My roommate yesterday had a Zoom call with a friend. And this friend told him something to the effect of "hey a person I knew from church is at the rally and actually speaking. Should I report him?" My roommate popped out of his room after the call with a look of bewilderment and wtf-ness. Not sure what the outcome was, but I guess if this was a dude being broadcasted, they wouldn't have to do anything anyways as I guess if authorities do want to get him that will be fairly easy.

I think the tone of extremist iconography has shifted in the past 30 years. In the past, it was more blatant and used as intimidation. Now it seems to be more subtle and used more to communicate to other like-minded individuals instead.

Why wave a nazi flag, when a trump hat or an iron cross tattoo on your neck has the same effect?

One of the biggest problems in recent US politics has been that throughout its history it always had an external threat to distract the psychopathic elements of the country.

Britain, communism, brown people, terrorists, Mexicans, etc. Politicians could always point to these external threats and tell the lunatics to hate them and fear them. That kept the crazies from focussing on internal issues too much.

When faced with no significant external threats over the past 10 years and the very big existential threat of climate change, the psychopaths decided to focus their hate internally and Trump and the lunacy of the last 4 years is the result.

All Biden needs to do is create an external threat to distract the mental cases and he can do whatever he wants domestically. It's what Trump tried to do with China when things started going to hell for him.
