Honestly Section 230 is probably done for sure now.
But the repercussions of that are going to be even worse for Republicans so it's hard to care
no...no this would have a massive effect on pretty much everything and everyone
this isn't just about social media
"no provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider"
students are working on a collaborative document, or have a small group chat, or freakin email each other, and someone says something another person doesn't like...suddenly the site hosting the document or email is liable
youtube suddenly gutted of billions of videos since they have no idea what blurb buried inside a random video is going to offend someone
redlettermedia has shit on all kinds of people for all kinds of reasons over the years, and now it's as if youtube itself is endorsing those statements as true
someone uploads a picture to imgur that says "dominion voting machines were rigged" and the caption at the top says "can you believe the audacity of these people to make these claims?" guess what...the image
itself can be hotlinked without the context of the caption, and imgur is hosting that image with false information on it
the internet would be utterly fucked sideways in every conceivable way
