It wasn't slander (nor, more accurately, libel) because it was "true" until he got exonerated over 20 years after her book came out. Even if her lawyers allowed her to "admit to that part" it wouldn't be like he could sue her.

I'm not sure why they're demanding a standard of this rape victim that they would never demand in any other instance. To the best of her knowledge, which was false because the police and prosecutors lied to her, her rapist had been caught, served his time and had spent the last 23 years free.
