The economy is more about sentiment than anything.
The message that everything is going to be fucking great is very powerful for consumer confidence.
When COVID hit hard, Kudlow came up with the V-shaped recovery. Which was fucking genius because that's what the graph looks like, when things go down fast and then eventually up again.
Once people see that line going up they don't want to lose out on it so they jump along for the ride.
I think the inflation scare is overblown but they've done it themselves by first denying there was going to be inflation, then saying they didn't see it coming and finally saying it was transitionary (until it wasn't).
The inflation to me seems to be the result of everything being frozen for 2 years, we basically get a backlog of 2 years of inflation, plus this years inflation. If you take the average of 2% - 3% you now end up at 10%/11%.
Prior to that we also had record lows on inflation (1% or less, as opposed to the usual 2% - 3%).
The problem the Democrats have now is that they have talked the economy into the dumps with their doomsday predictions and self-flaggelation so wages aren't going up either.
