Some of us have memories. Like when the game was first announced, and all we had was a short clip of the character saying a single sentence, and it spawned a huge thread full of people arguing that the MC and her utterance of the word “fuck” were trashy, and inappropriate, and didnt belong in a fantasy JRPG.

And it’s been the same ever since then. Seriously had a bunch of people outraged that the MC’s actress was being interviewed too often. We’ve had people complaining that the game has nails and jewelry as equipment instead of “traditional” RPG equipment. And who could forget the anger when the cover art was revealed and a bunch of posters decided that it featured the MC too prominently, and should instead have a nice landscape or something on it.

There’s no good explanation for this kind of shit happening over and over again with this game that doesn’t involve race and gender.

I'm a huge Pony...but this does sorta sound like Sony is just arguing this hurts their market position and isn't fair cuz MS is too rich. lol...It's a lot deeper than that but that's the premise I got. We can't make a gamepass equivalent because AAA isn't sustainable that way for our pockets. COD can't be replaced because a competitor to it costs too much, won't be as popular and again, that's too much money for our pockets and it could fail. etc...

Eh...I don't really care for MS owning this many valuable IP, but I would just be trying to work out deals that keep COD on the platform at this point. It sucks the richest company in the world is on your turf and doing things you can't compete with, but it also shouldn't put you out of business if you pivot and gain valuable IP back in response.

I do get the worry though. Subscriptions already kinda suck, all the IP are broken up and fragmented, and rate increases once service gets popular is inevitable. But, you just have to fight for your business model. If Sony wants AAA to always be a thing, then they are gonna have to become the second Nintendo.

Yes, the Aztecs are some of the first people we have records of who played a team sport involving a ball. What this however doesn't mean is that this sport was exported to ancient greece, who also had ball games, or ancient china, who also had ball games, or that those sports are actually a precursor of the english football we know today.

Its also pretty fucking  to think growing and eating food or using herbs and plants for medicinal reasons is something unique to any particular culture when its fucking hunter gatherer 101 and literally every culture on earth went through that step

Overall though I think all platform holders have enough fans, studios, content^TM and partnerships to sustain their platforms.

That said, funny how things changed
The year is 2010. I got a ps3 as birthday gift from my mother, bought another later because the first died.
I bought an 360 and Wii later but PS3 was my main console.
I bought almost every single exclusive possible for ps3 and signed PS+ at launch. Did you know that ps+ had DLC and PS1 games at the beginning? Instant game collection was so cool, free multiplayer too of course.

Then the Xbox One launch happened and I laughed so hard seeing some crazy folks trying to defend MS blocking used games and the always online

I even created a PlayStation focused fan page on Facebook and had close to 20.000 followers at time. Far from being big but it wasn't small either.

I bought a ps4 one year after launch, played a couple of exclusives and sold it to buy my PC. Games were so much cheaper on steam that I couldn't ignore.

Then everything that I liked about Sony's approach started to disappear. Two things that bothered me:
Ps+ became a shadow of it's early days, less games, more expensive.
Where were my PS1 games Sony? Why cant I play the ones I bought in the previous console? I could accept no ps3 emulation, but why couldn't I play ps1 and ps2 games on my ps4?

The only thing they didn't lose was the power of their first party studios. I bought a ps4 Pro to be able to play Spider-Man, GOW, Ghost of Tsushima, Lost legacy, Days gone (this one I never finished).

But almost every day some Sony executive gave an statement that made me disappointed or borderline angry. It reached a point where I sold my ps4Pro because I couldn't stand the "arrogant Sony". Being market leader is a hell of a drug. I was thinking about buying TLOUS 2 but never played because of that.

Now it's 2022
I bought a RTX 3060, last year I upgraded my CPU, SSD, ram, Mobo. A few months ago I signed for 3 years of gamepass. I use steam every day or at least week. I get games on GOG, EGS, Prime gaming...

Maybe it was the freedom that PC gaming offered but I just couldn't see myself investing more money on a service that gave me less and less benefits over time like ps+ (or it's tiers now).

On PC I can play almost any game from any generation, I have free online and tons of options

I don't see myself buying a ps5 and I literally don't need to buy a Xbox to have MS games.

Probably better not to speculate until there’s some basis for it. While he may have suffered abuse as a child, the instant association between abuse victims -> abusers is a bit of a slap in the face to the many abuse victims who do not go on to abuse anyone else.
