Knowing
Had some really awesome moments [which were mostly spoiled by every single trailer that ran on TV/in theaters/online] and a lot of really "meh" moments. The main problem with the movie is that it spent way too much time on paranormal hoopty-doo and not enough time on awesome end-of-the-world action. It exists in this nebulous region between an episode of the X-Files and a less cheesy version of Independence Day, meaning that you're never really sure what it's supposed to be because it can't decide either.
Nicholas Cage blunders his way through the movie, the kids are kind of robotic, and everyone else is just kind of a throwaway. The prologue with the little girl was just painfully bad. Creepy kids, oooohhh! It's so overplayed at this point.
The two "accident" scenes are really well done with decent special effects, great sound effects, and some really awesome, if mostly bloodless, violence. This is what the whole movie should have been about. Lots of crazy accidents going on all over the city as the world falls apart. But no, we have to go back to Nicholas Cage running around, yelling at people, and then drowning his sorrows in booze. Oh, and sometimes he gets agitated and runs off into the woods.
I give it a 6 out of 10, but only because of how awesome the three best scenes were.
