yep.

and regardless of the story shit happening around them, both supermen were pretty good casting.

I liked Routh a lot.  Bummer he hasn't had a big role since, I like him a lot.

I like him too. He did a pretty good job in Dylan Dog as well, though that wasn't exactly a huge movie.

What. How on earth? The show stuck around for way too many seasons. Should have ended at S2.

I do miss Adam Baldwin though

I like to think there's a race to re-cast as many Supermen and Hulks as possible.  Sort of the opposite of the lifetime appointments that Hugh Jackman and Robert Downey, Jr. have.

I hope Ruffalo sticks around for a while.  I'm not a big Hulk fan, but I really enjoyed him in Avengers.
I never ever want another solo Hulk movie again. (Unless World War Hulk since he will have sidekicks and popular Marvel heroes as antagonists)

I think Superman has just about enough to do solo movies, as long as the writers focus on his struggles and not portray him as the boyscout.

I disagree.  I mean, shit, they've done all of two movies in the last 25 years and they've already ran out of decent villains again.  The next movie seems to be open acknowledgment that Superman doesn't work well on his own.
Can't even take a stab at Brainiac? Darkseid?

So both Avengers 2 and the new X-Men movie are going to have Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch? How is that going to work?
Different companies, different universes.

Oh well yeah, Superman's villains are kinda shit, one or two apart. They can do Doomsday, Luthor, SuperBoy Prime (which will confuse the fuck out of audiences) and Brainiac then ... yeah. I wouldnt mind if they stole villains from the greater DC universe for him tho, I mean shit, smallville managed to drag a villain out their ass every week for what feels like a thousand years.

I dont see Darkseid as a Superman villain anymore, he's just a bit more than that.

the superman movie that will never happen but I want the most is basically a full movie based on hereafter from the justice league cartoon.  he's in the future where there's now a red sun making him 'normal,' ends up working with vandal savage to get back.  and then he can punch someone through a denny's in the last half hour whatever.

I hope Ruffalo sticks around for a while.  I'm not a big Hulk fan, but I really enjoyed him in Avengers.

he seems to be.  if there's a problem it's that he's not much of an asshole.  in ang lee's hulk banner was a passive aggressive asshole.  in some...guy's incredible hulk banner was an asshole-asshole.

so hopefully they don't try and make hulk the bad guy in one of these movies

Richard Ayoade's new film The Double is hard to sum up.  On the one hand, it's an excellent little horror film with elements of comedy (or is that comedy with elements of horror?) that captures on screen the tone and mood of what i think of when I think "Russian Urban Novel", but on the other hand aloooooooooot of the film hinges on our sympathizing with Eisenberg as a Reddit Nice Guy / creeper / stalker.  I'm still processing it after seeing it last night.  Bonus cameos in the film from Chris O'Dowd and Christopher Morris (and J Mascis?! apparently Ayoade is a Dinosaur Jr fan).

This is a film that throws its artifice in your face.  Think Brazil and other highly stylized films of that ilk.  It's very well put together, but it was hard to enjoy, if that makes any sense?

The 2008 Hulk was a pretty fun movie. The Ang Lee one, God bless him, was pretty awful. I wouldn't mind a sequel in the vein of Hulk 2008, but I don't trust Ruffalo to carry a whole film like Edward Norton did. Really wish I could see an alternate universe version of The Avengers where Norton didn't drop out of the franchise.

Why did Norton bail, anyway? I am going to guess schedule conflict, but the guy is also infamous for wanting to rewrite his parts, and I don't see Joss Whedon being excited about that, especially in a balanced ensemble piece.

$$$ and racial diversity (  :lol :lol :lol ) from what I remember on the commentary of Avengers, Yeah... I liked both Hulk movies and would love another one, but it won't happen.

edit: Xmen is coming out and it's not even in IMAX??? wtf come on the only reason I see movies in theaters anymore is because of IMAX and D-box. Might as well just wait till I can watch that shit at home on my theater system.

it's fun that we can have this talk and pretend like warner has even the slightest clue on how to capitalize on their rich comic book IP beyond Batman.

Smallville is the longest running scifi show.

I would love to see Allstar superman done as a one-off epic movie.

I think they'd work pretty well, as long as their screentime was kept to a bare minimum. Wasn't there a rumor that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were going to be Inhumans?

Probably, but then again people have been thinking that thanks to the combination of Marvel trying to push the Inhumans again and the fact that they don't have the mutant movie license. That they would attempt to use the Inhumans as thier movie mutant stand in.

I'm glad it's spread out a bit but it would be nice if the different studios played nice with each other.

mutants in a world with all these other super powered and cosmic people was always a little weird.  but stuff like keeping dr. doom and galactus to the fantastic four is a shame.  and I can't imagine disney putting out an r rated punisher movie (not that other studios' attempts were great).

hey

HEY

Whedon's making Agents of Shield.

Which means that, Firefly notwithstanding, the first season is going to be somewhat lame and then the show is going to get really awesome really quickly.

And I have to say, the first season so far hasn't been bad. I've missed the last two episodes cause I can't be asked but there IS some compelling stuff so far.

Smallville always seemed stupid to me but if I had to be honest, I never gave it a fair shot either. And I probably wouldn't watch Shield if Whedon wasn't behind it.

But that just goes to show that Marvel can recognize talent more than Warner can (Snyder being the most fucking obvious example.)

AoS isn't bad it's just super super bland.  It has absolutely no character of it's own.  Smallville didn't get good until after they stopped the monster of the week BS in season 4.
