there was a way, way, way better version of the mountainside cliff fight in another 2013 sequel to a goofy arse blockbuster.
Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon is a prequel to the earlier (and also awesome) Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame. Here's what's cool about them, you'll better understand the original film if you watch the prequel first. Its a prequel that actually works better as a first installment, and not as a belated pre follow up to a later film, even though it came out later.
Enough explanations, you wanna see a florid, period piece mystery adventure with lots of cheerful derring do and some good comedy, you're at the right place. Wanna see some very imaginative special effects and action setpieces, this is where you'll find them. Want to see Tsui Hark making movies worth watching again after pretty much the whole decade of the aughts, this a great place to start. The films are somewhat analogous to the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes films, but I'd say they're a fair bit better, they're certainly more fun to watch.
and yeah, that cliff side fight in this one is pretty damn cool.
