I don't think a comic movie has ever offended me as a fan as much as Man of Steel. It completely forgoes any and every element that make Superman a compelling character and story, including his mythos and history in favor for a romance em up. Characterization is non existent. Clark doesn't really ever "walk amongst humans", he doesn't put on a mask or costume portraying human kind. He's only ever Superman and rescuing people, even as "Clark". His father sacrifices himself for his dream that Clark be a symbol for humanity and yet Clark travels the world saving random people so he can be easily traced by Lois Lane? So during the big fight, he blows up a gas station, decimates a town, and blows up a whole energy reactor to fight one GUY? I thought he was supposed to be a bridge between humanity and krypton, but he's destroying whole towns five minutes later? Where's Clark the reporter? Where's Superman and his intent on solving human injustice?
As a movie, it's a 5/10. As a Superman story, it's an easy 2/10. Holy Christ, whoever wrote this is a fucking HACK.
