optimo, Suikoden 1 is good but it's overshadowed by its successors. The graphics and art are really bad but there's some interesting storytelling that laid down the basics of Suikoden lore.

Suikoden II is a classic. As a huge FF6 fan you should play it.

There IS no run button in Suiko 1. However, if you recruit Stallion, Tir can walk faster.

first game I got destroyed but after a while it mostly came back.  Surf maps are still a lot of fun.

bunch of games to try out my new upgrade:

Mafia 2
Force Unleashed 2
Hot Pursuit
Dead Rising 2
Medal of Honor
NBA 2K11
Prince of Persia

It's amazing how much better they look and play at >1080P, 60fps, and ridiculous amount of anti-aliasing.

Radical Dreamers and Bahamut Lagoon. I also tried a little bit of Dragon Quest VI, but just couldn't get into it.

I've got Emerald Dragon downloaded, but haven't tried it yet. Is it any good?

Are there 3 console games released in the last 6 months worth getting in B2G1 deals?  Vanquish was the only one I could think of and that one will probably be $20 in two months.

Rumbler: I haven't played much of Emerald Dragon, aside from a bit of the import cart (playing some random savegame left on there, I bought it used off Ebay). I remember Aeana from GAF seemed to really like it. The game has a nice retro anime aesthetic, and a battle system very reminiscent of the early Ultima games, where you move characters in turn across a grid, and each character has kind of like an "AP bar" that runs out as you move around/attack/use magic.

Darksiders. Pretty fun but playing it with KB&M is just, ugh. Why doesn't my PS2 pad work? It works under plain Windows!

Darksiders might be one of those games that uses the Xbox 360 controller as the only controller support (I believe it's called 'xinput'; old generic game pads are 'directinput')

You can trick your computer into thinking your ps2 pad is a 360 one using software.  Quickly found through google (might be something better out there): http://code.google.com/p/x360ce/

Beat the story in Naruto UNS2. Pretty good overall, but hopefully CC2 starts doing some actual level design in their next games. The story mode is basically running down corridors, clicking through dialog boxes, and fighting. Just gotta do the side missions and post-game stuff now, which looks pretty tedious. Been playing online a lot too - the game's still broken as fuck, but at least I have a gameplan now and I'm winning more than I'm losing (I think I'm 32-25 at the moment). Been using Kabuto with Hidan/Sakura assists, but I might switch over to Sage Naruto now that I've unlocked him. I love catching someone with Hidan and hitting them with my ultimate attack as they're getting combo'd by him. Lately, most of my losses are against distinguished effete fellows who use turbo controllers, since that means they're pretty much invincible if they play smart. But thankfully most of them don't play smart, which is not at all surprising.

Been playing Forza 3 a lot too. It is the ultimate podcast game. When I get tired of Naruto (or whatever my 'main' game is), I switch over to Forza, turn on a podcast for a couple hours and race. Been pretty fun so far. I'm up to level 38 and I'm currently in season 5, so I don't have too much more to play through I guess. I love it when I get a new high-grade car with good handling, speed, braking, etc. Ferrari FXX :bow I guess I'm starting to take a liking towards sim racing. Maybe I'll pick up GT5 after I 1000 Forza 3 and Forza 2.

Been playing a lot of Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu.  Pretty cool.  The route changes are great, music is great, scoring is ok.  I wish the 3 combat types had combined leaderboard because I don't know which one to concentrate on.  Keep switching between all 3 and using them all.  I like Power the best if I'm doing a pure score run and don't care about survival.  Plus since it doesn't have auto-bomb it feels more like a traditional 3 live shmup with an overpowered ship.

Arrange B is really awesome too.  Switching between runs on that and 1.5 X360 mode.  Not touching Arrange A at all.  Tried it once and didn't care for it.  Looking forward to Ketsui mode in Black Label.

At least the scoring in DFK is way better than DOJ and DDP. Still big on memorization, but it's way more forgiving. But then again, getting 4000+ hits on stage 1 and activating the Ura bosses is a pain in the ass.

Arrange A is awesome though. I love how you have to keep tons of bullets on screen in order to crank your hit counter. Great risk/reward system to it. I wish the bees weren't worth so many points though (getting both extends on stage 1 lol). Scoring in 1.51 and Arrange B seem pretty broken, at least until the patch.

I like it. It's really fun. There's a shitty world map that adds NOTHING AT ALL TO THE GAME, but the level design is good and it has a bit to do and see.

I can't play 3d platformers on PSP or DS with no 2nd analogue.  I mean they are playable but having to deal with the camera makes them a lot less fun.  Never made it very far in Daxter because of it.

My problem with the single player career mode in Blur is that I'm ~60-70% in the campaign and I still finish ever race half a lap in front of the other cars and less fun.  When you're in the pack and fighting back and forth and using defense items to keep the lead the game is awesome (aka, online mode), but if you get past the pack in the first 30 seconds and never see them again it's basically a time trial.

It's weird because every other arcade racer I've played lately has had horrible shitfest rubberbanding that keeps the AI cars on your ass or in front of you and cheating like hell to piss you off.  Then I finally get a game without rubberbanding (Blur) and it's boring because they're all a joke.  This is why you need no rubberbanding + difficulty select so you can just choose the difficulty that is around your level.

I mean I expected to lap cars for the first 1-2 opponents in Blur campaign, but I shouldn't be still doing it at the A class car level.

Otherwise I really dig the game.  Could use a few more tracks and the way you have to unlock boss fights is dumb, but it's still a pretty fun 1p arcade racer.  I think I like it slightly less than Dirt 2 SP and more than Split/Second or Motorstorm PR SP.  Going to move on to NFS HP once I finish Blur's career mode.  Then I'm good on arcade racers until Motorstorm 3/Dirt 3.

Started playing Kane & Lynch 2, holy crap the first level is AWESOME.  The presentation is just soooooo good.  Feels like you're playing a movie.  I think it's a good direction for the franchise since the first game was going for the same "you're watching a michael mann film" feel but this just takes it to the next level.  Shooting is still crap, but I don't really care.  I'm playing this game for the Call of Duty scripted rollercoaster ride experience, gameplay doesn't have to be anything above non-frustrating.  Hope it keeps it up for the whole 3 hours I hear it lasts.  Would be nice if it can pull off what the first game almost did.  It's already worth the $5 I paid.  Engine runs really good too.  Looks pretty nice and constant 60fps.

I really should get around to playing the last couple Hitman games.  Despite their flaws I like IO Interactive games a lot.  Last one I played of theirs before K&L1 was probably Hitman 2.

there is also Mini Ninja which is supposed to be good.  I still need to play that one myself.

Ok, started the 2nd level, kept dying game is frustrating as hell and not fun.  There's no safe spot since you can get shot through cover and all the enemies only drop SMG which has the worst accuracy ever.  Plus they like to flank you and all the sudden some guy is behind you and you die in 2 seconds and restart 5 mins back.  Ugh.  I just want to run through this game enjoying it for the story and scripted levels.  Will restart on easy tomorrow.

I stopped playing Kane and Lynch 2 after the 2nd or 3rd level.  I agree with most of your points.  The visual style is quite pleasing despite the inconsistent details.  At times, the game almost looks real. However, that style of presentation is also what makes the game frustrating to play.  Everytime you get hit, it's very hard to recover because of all the blurring and shaking.   In addition, the controls just don't feel right.  Whenever you die, it almost always feels like a failure of the game instead of the player's fault.  I'll get back to it eventually but it's going back to the bottom of the list.

I started playing Mirror's Edge again on the PC. I bought it in January 2009 I believe for about $15, played one chapter and haven't touched it since. I'm having a much more enjoyable experience than last time but I just really dislike the combat in this game, to the point that I wish it wasn't in the game at all.
Yeah, it's best to completely avoid it. There's only a couple of occasions where you can't. It also helps with speedrunning.

15 years ago I would have coded that myself.
10 years ago I would have looked around TechGuru, nVnews.net etc. sites.
5 years ago I would have looked around gaming forums.

Now I am not even bothered to google a solution.

The older I am the more lazier I get, damn.

That worked, thanks Linkzg!

Mini Ninjas is okay, but I think "good" is pushing it. It's like, babby's first stealth game with pretty average action game combat mixed in. I kinda hated it while playing through it, but looking back I'd say it's a 6/10 game maybe. I think it was searching for all the collectibles that made me hate the game.

Yeah, having an extra person with extra firepower would probably help a lot.  Hopefully easy mode remedies that a bit in SP.

I really like that the K&L games feel fresh from a story/setting/character perspective.  It's hard to explain but you have all these games that are trying to be real world realistic like Call of Duty or Splinter Cell, yet when you play them you feel like you're playing a videogame with videogame characters.  But with K&L it feels like you're playing a movie with movie characters.  I'm not going to say the writing is great or anything, but it manages to feel really different than almost every game out there and that's incredibly refreshing and exciting and what drives me to play it despite the shooting being about as good as Alpha Protocol.

I liked Kane and Lynch 1 (sans later parts) because you were bad dudes having shoot outs in cool locations you don't see much in games.

I remember some podcast (I think it was giantbomb) was hating on the games because you were playing as such terrible people and I didn't understand that.  I'm someone who plays rpgs as a saintly good guy but it was still cool to play as dudes who were shooting down civilians in a nightclub and didn't give a fuck.  And yeah, you're shooting people in a nightclub.  It isn't an emptied out nightclub like some games might have had, but one with people dancing and music blasting.

Yeah, I don't like Kane or Lynch, but I find them to be very interesting characters and I'm glued to the screen watching their story play out.  If you do it right, you can make games about unlikeable people just like you can make movies about unlikeable people that are still engaging.

i played zelda 1 to completion a while ago and to this day i can't understand how people can say it's amazing... combat mostly revolve hitting enemies that move at random with your sword and unless you upgrade ASAP,it's incredibly frustating because otherwise everything takes forever to die,the dungeon are all the same and there are 2 piece of music played in the whole game... so meh

megaman 2 is much more awesomer

I like that the game doesn't tell you what to do. A lot of the content is hidden, like the second sword, or the magic shield. It has an exploration focus and it's just fun exploring. Nothing takes forever to die in Zelda 1 unless you're using the wooden sword.

I also enjoy how much damage a lot of the enemies can do on you. It's not as puzzle based as other Zelda's but its simplicity is appealing and refreshing.
