Far from Generic, friend. The fact that is practically zero issues is what makes it amazing. It's a straight up, solid superhero (technically Bat isnt one but) game.

i played it for like an hour and tought it was a pretty generic action game... you know the one where there is a huge gap in the room but CASUALY the wall on your left has a spot that you can climb and do all those shit you do in like every action game ever

The whole game is like this. I mean, I like it a lot, but some variety would be nice.

I thought Batman was great but there is also a level of identifying with the character that takes it to another level. But I think that's the point. It's best batman game ever and its a great realization of that property. If that property means somewhat less to you I think you may find it less interesting. But even divorcing the Batman element away from it I thought it was a well designed game. You feel like Batman. And that's a rare achievement for a comic book game.

How many good Batman games are there?

There this and...Batman nes? Batman nes was one of the first games I played and I'm shocked it still holds up. I went to Toys R' Us with my aunt when it came out to get it. :heartbeat

Batman: AA, aside from the disappointing final boss battle, is great and slowly carving up a mob of baddies while being all stealthy is ACE.

It's a better metal gear than metal gear solid 4.

My favorite thing is to sneak in, use some explosive gel on a landmark, get caught, make and them follow me to the landmark and let a rip. If that doesn't knock them out, I just do ground takedowns until they're all ko'd.

Playing Death Smiles again, I think I'm gonna try to get the 200 million achievement until Akai Katana comes out, but that's probably gonna be tough. It's hard to find any good replays on the NA leaderboard, since I'm somehow still ranked #7 with only 141m points. Americans need to stop sucking at shooters.

Mass Effect 2 is awesome.

I've got my team all together and did Jack, Miranda, and Samara's loyalty mission. Sided with Morinth because I'm a dick (Bioware, Y U NO GIVE ME RENEGADE POINTS FOR THIS?) Picked up all the quest DLC and did Lair of the Shadow Broker. Stayed faithful to mah waifu Liara so I can get the Mass Effect 3 TRUE ENDING.

Medal of Honor Airborne is kinda kick ass

I played the demo years ago and the unique structure is really pronounced compared with other shooters (especially Metro 2033, which is one of the most scripted games ever).  When the theme kicks in and gunshots from yer boys and screams of nazi, it's chilling.  You drop in and get shit DONE.  Biggest problem is how empty the world feels.  It's almost like a reaenactment of a world war 2 battle than an actual battle.  If they kept with the theme, it would be cool to have civilians, interactive environments, destruction, vehicles, etc.  Actually, thee structure would fit a Battlefield single player; Bad Company 1 was kinda similar but BC2 and BF3 were/look full on linear shooter.

I'm hoping one of the later levels is like arnhem knights from frontline.  And it sounds totally dipshitty to complain about all those modern war shooters, but I honestly liked the WW2 setting and didn't think it was played out.  WW2 has a nice vibe for games.  Would be nice if one of the dozen or so series from last gen would continue.  They've all converted to modern war or ended.  Well, except Wolfenstein and The Saboteur but both were loose with the WW2 theme.

Growing weary of Dead Rising 2, the gas zombies are un-fun. I only just realized that they do some damage even if they don't get ahold of me. I've died twice with health on me. I hate that. The UI should flash when health is down to 3 pips. Just ANYTHING that says, hey, you're in rough shape.

Playing ILO MILO now. It's a lot of fun. That "aha!" moment when I figure out how to get the various pieces where they need to be is pretty great. The game is really charming, too.

Beat my old Death Smiles score by 4-5m points after just a few tries. yay? Still pretty far from 200m. That's going to be tough to hit without going into Death Mode or going to the EX stage. I wish I could watch some replays from the JP leaderboards. :(

Was playing Mortal Kombat online, and fought someone who just kinda stood there and jumped around.  Turns out it was a little kid; I could hear his parents/family in the background, commenting on the game.  When I did a fatality on him, his father was like "what the hell was that?!" and his mother yelled "THAT'S IT!!  THAT'S ENOUGH OF THIS GAME.  NO MORE!!  NO.  MORE." and then the kid started wailing and disconnected.   :rofl

I think it has gotten to point where 90% of the matches I play in Mortal Kombat result in rage quits.  The best ones are where the guys stay in the lobby afterwards and go "ALL U DID WAS FIREBALLS NOOB!!" and then get jumped on when everyone else goes "you got beat by just fireballs?  lmao"  :lol :lol :lol

Ok, finished Case Zero.  It was fun but yeah, run speed = 0 and shitty framerate + long load times were annoying.  Case West should be better since you'll have run 3 and the framerate should be better since it was made after the DR2 final build.  Makes me want to replay DR2 again on PC.

Although I wonder, is Case West annoying to play 1p since it's a co-op game?

Woo, got the 'score 200m' achievement in Death Smiles on my first credit today (scored 215m). Used Follet in a mixed rank run, so I didn't have to worry about bullshit suicide bullets. No missed the entire game up to Tyrannosatan, where I bombed too early and got clipped by one of his bullets before he died. Eh, whatever. I got my achievement so I'm happy. I also uploaded my replay to the Arcade mode leaderboards, if anyone wants to check it out. Probably won't learn too much from it, but it could show some strategies for scoring 200m.

I'm surprised I knocked this achievement out with only a day or two of practice. I've been on a huge roll over the last couple weeks. :D

no, it's fine. The partner AI is fine and he can't die if the CPU is controlling him. Case West > Case Zero, play it now!

btw - you don't start with run 3 in CW. It uses completely independent save files and leveling from Case Zero and DR2. But you'll gain a couple of levels and run fast in no time

Since I'm waiting for Witcher 2 next week, I've been going back and trying to beat some recent games that I never finished. Up right now is Red Faction: Guerilla, one of the most fun open-world games ever. The ability to just level entire buildings is such a great addition and it never seems to get old. As for the story, I don't really know what going on except that there's bad guys and I'm a terrorist or something, doesn't really matter anyway.

Enemies gobble bullets while you die in 5 shots

Giant T-Rex section that doesnt work for shit

Partner AI dumb as bricks, enemy AI pinpoit accurate

Cover worthless for shit, you have to fucking hold the stick to crouch, enemies can still shoot you through and above cover.

Script not as "funny" as I thought.

Graphically not even as good looking as Gears - very blurry

okay, I played the game on normal and didn't experience this. Probably bad difficulty scaling.

Quote
Giant T-Rex section that doesnt work for shit

yes this part was the weakest point of the game, but was still novel. when was the last time you remote controlled a t-rex to do your bidding.

Quote

partner is there just for narrative purposes. If you're relying on him to do any sort of work, you're doing it wrong.

Quote
Script not as "funny" as I thought.

the jokes do get samey and drag the further you get, I agree. but it's still a refreshing change of pace from the pseudo-military lingo we get in most fpses these days.

played it on PC and it looked amazing, destroys Gears

I think the game feels cheap to you because they possibly did a bad job at scaling difficulty levels appropriately (I'm assuming you're playin on the highest difficulty), which is a fair complaint.

yeah, I've had that a couple of times with the AI, really annoying.

and I can see how running around trying to pull off skill shots would be a pain in the ass on high difficulty and wouldn't work the way it should.

I can definitely see your grievances with the game.

There was only one part near the end of Bulletstorm that pissed me off on the hardest difficulty. It was a big foyer with doors all around that big enemies would constantly emerge from.

Rest of the game was easy, you aren't even supposed to be using bullets to kill most of the enemies.
