Damn.

Machida got owned. The two punches to the temple. Too much, the guy was finished as soon as hit the floor.

Well, Shogun is just bad match for Machida.

Hope Anderson Silva moves up and cleans the division with break dancing skills

This ain't no fight.

One day UFC really has to start score fights as fights and not as wrestling matches.

Oh, stuff it.  How does "scoring it as a fight" change the outcome compared with "scoring it as a wrestling match"?

When you can have your way with an opponent like Kos did in this fight, you win.

Or put it another way, when the only way that Daley can land a punch is to chase Kos after the fight is over and throw a sucker punch, then in no conceivable way can you say that Kos didn't deserve to win.

I'm hearing Daly also kneed Kos in the head getting up from a ground position. What's with that?

He didn't. Kos faked an over-reaction to what looked like a knee on the ground but wasn't. He has a history of phony reactions.

All i'm saying is, just taking people down without doing damage is the most boring shit ever. Rashad Evans did it, Fitch did it, Kos did it.

It's not what it's supposed to be about. It's like anti fighting.

I don't think Evans got past Thiago Silva's half guard a single time throughout the fight, and Fitch is only a few notches above him when it comes to looking for a finish on the ground. Koscheck was constantly improving his position and attempted a submission or two as well; moreover, that was his first decision win in nearly 2 years, and Lytle got his ass beat in that fight. I don't think Koscheck has looked that boring since his TUF days. It's absolutely not exciting, but you can just as easily blame Daley's inability to do anything on the ground other than hang on for dear life and stall.

Not in that video, that video was more to show Shogun happy face. In the countdown, in other interviews, the guy is too full of himself.

Not an especially great slate of fights but there is a Strikeforce on Showtime card tonight.

Quote
Heavyweight Championship bout:  Alistair Overeem (c) vs.  Brett Rogers
Heavyweight bout:  Andrei Arlovski vs.  Antonio Silva
Middleweight bout:  Ronaldo Souza vs.  Joey Villaseñor
Light Heavyweight bout:  Roger Gracie vs.  Kevin Randleman
Light Heavyweight bout:  Rafael Cavalcante vs.  Antwain Britt

I will be absolutely shocked if Rogers doesn't leave the cage on a stretcher, but nothing would make me happier than to see Rogers somehow win and walk away with the title, meaning Strikeforce would be stuck with Fedor vs Rogers 2 -- and it would serve them right for letting the Russians bend them over like they have.

Couldn't be any less interested in Arlovski vs Antonio Silva.

Randleman is gonna get choked out, probably in under 3 minutes

edit: I forgot that Jacare is on the card as well!

Just watched the Strikeforce Card. Arlovski as usual disappoints. Dude has a lot of talent but very rarely shows it.

Overeem versus Rogers was a mauling as I expected. It's weird that we have to wait for a Werdum/Fedor fight which will be a foregone conclusion instead of Overeem/Fedor right away but whatever I guess.

Meh. Oh well. Barring 5 rounds of LNP, Shogun should annihilate him.

At least Rampage had an excuse for looking shitty. Did Big Nog fill in for his little brother? Because that's the only logical explanation I can think of for that performance.

The sad bit for chuck is that he was actually looking pretty good until then. He did a takedown. He was using his kicks. I was kinda impressed.

But his chin is just gone. That didn't even look like an especially hard punch from Franklin but once it connected it was like Chuck had been hit with dynamite.

Despite all of Rogan's talk I doubt he is retiring. I still see a Chuck/Tito fight somewhere down the road.

Yeah, this ended up being a pretty good PPV. All the fights went to the third round (didn't watch the preliminaries) except for Franklin and Chuck, but that still was a good fight. Chuck looked good, he even broke Rich Franklin's arm with one of those kicks. Still, about the only other fight I would want to see from Chuck would be against Tito one more time.

Someone on Sherdog just brought up the possibility of Mirko vs Nogueira 2. I would actually want to see that.

I'd have no problem with the UFC keeping their over-the-hill legends around to fight each other if they didn't constantly make them the main events on PPV. They should do UFC: Senior Circuit cards on Spike

The UFC is in a slightly weird position in that they have a lot of old ass fighters who can't contend for titles anymore but who are fan favorites from the "good old days" and people still like to see them fight. They almost could run a seniors circuit at least for the LHW and HW division.

Yeah, I never know if I'm cheering for Rich because he's a self-made talent, or because he's a smart, nice guy. Getting knocked out by The Spider isn't much of a knock against him, looking back now across Silva's record.
