Two issues is pushing it. I think it could have been done in 4 but I wouldn't say nothing happens.

-Old villain team, already long-missing any recognizable faces, gets replaced with kids.
-Quentin Quire comes back and...ends up doing nothing.
-One "innocent" character uses powers to kill.
-Cyclops and Wolverine fight for a couple of pages.
-Wolverine leaves, peacefully, with other characters.

That's pretty much the entire story in a nutshell.  It was handled poorly overall.  Awful pacing and the confrontation everyone was waiting for did not deliver.

Speaking of pacing, there were two tie-in issues of whatever the hell that new-new-new-new-mutants series is called, with Hope and her little team...all they do for TWO FUCKING ISSUES is decide if they are going to fight while the Sentinel lumbers towards the island.   

And what's even more hilarious is that none of the X books have caught up to schism yet, so in everything else you have Cyclops and Wolvie as buddies.

Marvel (at least in its main superhero series) loves to just slowly drag shit out.  I know that tends to be a comic book thing, but I mean good God, Marvel takes it to a whole new level.  A whole issue discussing if they should or shouldn't do something and then the issue ends on a cliffhanger of the fucking decision and then the next issue is a bunch of bullshitting and farting around before they actually do it in the following issue.  Yeesh.  I've never been much of a marvel superhero fan outside of Spiderman but all their other shit seems to be mostly this.

Will be interesting to see how the #2s pan out - I'd imagine a lot of people bought stuff because hey, New 52! and will quickly drop down to only what caught their interest. 5 months from now (after the first arcs) is gonna be a bloodbath.

- they seem to have abandoned the 'one and done' structure, boo hiss
- more slaughtered prostitutes than CSI: Rapeandkillville, USA. Not helping with the whole sexism thing
- Batman refs don't really ADD anything at this point

If you are not yet on the Prince Valiant bandwagon, now is a good time to start, as vol. 4 just hit. vol. 3 is really where it hits its stride artistically, so you could jump on there, or just go straight to vol. 4. We are in 'End of Year Best of List' territory now. All the art house stuff is hitting at once.

If we're on Moore, I like V for Vendetta and From Hell more. I have read a lot of graphic novels, and while Watchmen is a classic, one's expectations should be tempered when reading it for the first time due to hyperbolic fan frenzy.

"Temper your expectations" does not mean "it sucks". in this case, it means "Watchmen is a great comic, but the way comic geeks whack their nut all over it borders on hilarious, so don't go in with ridiculous high expectations or it may not meet them " to which you're proving my point to a tee, right fucking now.
