The FIFPro licence is really far more important (global players union thing that gives them likeness rights, not associated with FIFA itself).

EA have that and all the big leagues.

I do hope someone else joins the scene, with pro evo being free to play dog shit now (pes2020 was a pretty great playing if flawed game) and the last 5 or 6 FIFAs being kinda stale and samey.

Anyone who had even a slither of hope starfield was coming this year had to be a fool. I'd be amazed if it made 2023.

I'm very intrigued to see what it looks like tho graphically, It don't even trust Todd to drop something that looks remotely new gen, I'm expecting some thing that looks like an early PS4 pro era title.

Perfect Dark is in development hell and most other games like Hellblade II are 2023 or 2024 releases.
In some cases like Fable 'at the earliest'.

Maybe Machine Games shows up with Wolfenstein III or Indiana Jones?
Those have been cooking for a while.

My brother said to me it's worse than people think in the industry right now. COVID, the transition to UE5 and the war in Ukraine.

Lots of publishers outsource different things to Ukraine/Russia and most of those studios were already fully booked prior to the war.
The industry moving to UE5 (and additional studios dropping their own engines in favor of UE5) also means that experienced UE devs are in short supply.
Everyone also got spooked by what happened with CP2077 and a few sure bets like Battlefield 2042 and Avengers.

Not to mention the restructuring following the many acquisitions and #metoo situations.

From an outside perspective of someone that has no real skin in the videogame industry:

AAA behemoth Western publishers are struggling to promote growth when growth is the expectation. Bloating budgets, shitty contracts for contracted workers, if you aren't Epic, EA, Activision, or a mobile studio, games as a service is a nightmare undertaking that isn't sustainable.

Japanese studios seem more mixed or less predictable I guess? The issues and challenges faced are similar to Western studios, with differing flavors and measures of problems. Seems like Japanese devs focused on non AAA experiences are moderately successful due the Switch and PC.

Indie devs seem to be thriving in regards to potential exposure. If you're on Game Pass or you get decent word of mouth, there is a chance of success and a greater chance of people acknowledging what you made.

It tries to defend the pedophile character by saying he had a bad childhood. Also brought up the holocaust. Bloober is fucking amazing.

Embracer has announced there will be news on the KOTOR remake in the coming months.

They also intend to develop not just sequels but also remasters, remakes and spin-offs using the Eidos IP's (Deus Ex, Tomb Raider etc.)

Things are moving quickly as they expect to wrap up the acquisition as soon as July.

Reedus leaked Death Stranding 2 development just started. Yesssss.

That said, the timing sure gives a lot of credence to the rumors that DS didn't sell enough initially for Sony to greenlight a sequel. so Kojima went to MS to get his next project funded, which should be a year or so away from completion now (DS was made in 3 years), but over time DS sold enough with PC version and DC version they finally got a greenlight, so it'll be Team Kojima game after that in like 4 years.

Real curious to what Kojima's MS game is gonna be, I bet it's revealed this summer.

But I'll take some more DS, if that's what he wants to do and isn't forced to do it like Konami did with MGS... Although I'm glad they made so many till he perfected the gameplay with MGSV.

Well, his next IP before DS2 should be a new IP, so you'll get that too!

I think a gameplay sequel to DS makes sense. Kojima is really good at iterating his concepts and has hundreds of ideas for these things. Death Stranding already had so.many.ideas with all the gadgets and tools and gameplay systems. I'm pretty excited to see what more he can come up with for the formula.

Also DS was PS4. DS2 would be next-gen only which would free it up further for expanding in scope and complexity. Plus DS1 looked incredibly gorgeous, can't wait to see what they could do on PS5.

Imo there's still a chance that Reedus doesn't really know what he's talking about, i.e. referring to his next mocap gig with Kojimba as 'the next one' but not literally DS2.

Game was fine, I don't need another one either. Traversal needed to be much tougher in the first game, plus more climbing tools being available. On the other hand, much less/no shooting and no incomprehensible pretentious baby story.
