The Deadmines are easily my favorite place to level right now. Grinding can be rather uneventful, but grinding while making your way through the mines with a group is very fun. Basically if you stand around in Westfall long enough someone will run up to you, begging you to join. Which is what happened yesterday.

The first group I joined was very good. It was lead by a lv23 paladin who really knew how to play. We got through the enemies pretty easily; all our problems were with people not getting together lol. I admit, I was greedy. We kept finding these kickass swords (2), and I needed on both; I want to level my sword skills up, and I planned on doing it after I got out the mines. Then we found this even more kickass axe that was better than the one I had. I needed again, at which point the paladin got pissed.

Paladin: Why did you need there? You needed on the swords
Goinio: I just wanted them I'm sorry. My sword rating sucks
Paladin: You aren't using them
Goinio: I use them outside the cave; didn't want to have to buy swords
Paladin: wtf I think Goin is a niglit
Everyone: LOL
Goinio: I'm sorry. I will give you the axe if you want. I won't do it again
Paladin: This really makes me mad.

He said something like "niglit" I can't remember exactly what. It wasn't a play on the N word though.

I offered to give him the axe and he threatened to kick me out the group. He kept bitching for 5 more minutes, after which I checked his gear and found out he had a hammer that did twice as much damage as the weapon I took. For the rest of the night I passed everytime someone found a good item.

Anyway we got to VC and disposed of him quite easily, after which point we left the mines and disbanded. I made my way back to Westland to find another group. Worst decision of 2007 so far

So this lv19 mage asked me to help tank with his group. I agreed, and pretty soon the group was ready. We only had one healer but we made it to the underground ship quite easily. Then things went to shit, over and over again. Basically the ship is connected to a dock full of pirates. Once you kill them all you have to face VC's first minion, Mr Smide; that was easy enough. After that we made it to the highest part of the ship where we were quickly killed. Never got to fight VC either. Some dumbass arrgo'd the entire area.

This proceded to happen for the next two hours basically. We'd get all the way to the top of the ship and get killed due to some dumbass. Or two people would get killed after not listening to me and the mage, who'd tell everyone to jump on the canons (can't be attacked there). First we'd lose healers, then we got this level 22 paladin who didn't know how to rez and proceded to get us raped. Finally around 2am we killed VC. Wow

Level doesn't matter for joining a guild. I don't know if you can create a guild under level 10, though.

No official playing time, but most of us usually play at night. After 5 or so.

Yesterday me and whiteAcid (Zinla) quested together for a pretty long time; it's now very clear to me that the best and most entertaining way to grind is to do quests (especially kill quests) while killing creeps along the way. I got so much XP for every quest it wasn't funny, and plus lots of money. At one point I had 3 gold

I was eager to use some of my new tank skills while playing with her. I've improved, but I'm still not that great at it, but the guides I found (and cubicle provided) are helping. While playing with her my strategy consisted of:

Using Taunt to get the enemies attention and then Sundering their armor. After that I'd use Demoralizing Shout. With whiteAcid it was hard because she was doing so much damage to the enemies that they'd ignore me after awhile and run to her. But luckily we both never died during our quests, which had us doing everything from killing dinosaurs, murdering Orcs, and escorting NPCs. Very nice.

Later that night I joined a big group and started another Orc quest; this one required us to kill a certain Orc leader and bring back his head. We died a couple times in part because I wasn't tanking that well. But once I started using the Tab button to switch from enemy to enemy things got better.

We then set off to kill a human warlock named Margoth (or something like that). He was located at the top of this tower filled with enemies. Basically he was surrounded by around 4 minions. We decided to sheep them and solely attack him since he could summon this HUGE undead Abomination. Right before we killed him he summoned it. At that point my tanking became pretty easy as I taunted him and then used Demoralizing Shout; he only attacked me for the entire battle, which seemed to last forever due to his insane amount of HP. We had a very good paladin who healed me throughout the battle. Amazing.

I gained two levels yesterday and now I'm lv25

Often this isn't your fault - other players have to understand not to go in with "all guns blazing" straight away. When I group with my tank, I tell the group not to attack until after I do a thunderclap - that gives me enough time to build aggro, and stop them from stealing it from me in case they get a bit over-enthusiastic. Or just ask them not to use high damage attacks/spells until you've got at least 3 sunders on the beastie.

I try to save one of my taunts or shouts for after the ranged dps hits. You'll get more aggro drawing stuff as you level. So you could have like taunt, demoralizing, an aoe taunt shout, sunder, and intercept at a later level and be able to pull the stragglers back to you.

You're pretty much going to have to get the Burning Crusade expansion pack if you want to hit lvl 70 and play with your friend in the Outlands or even try out one of the new races.

Eventually I'll get it no doubt. But it's sort of like StarCraft. I bought StarCraft pretty late when everyone had the Brood War expansion. I decided to finish the game and get good at it before moving on to the expansion (which rocks btw).

I don't get Arathi resource point scoring. A team can hold 3 bases for most of the match, then lose 2 in the final minute and lose by 60-80 points? That is messed up.

I was like 5 levels higher than him dude, wtf you want me to do? I could have stood back and did pussy shots with my wand, but with my guns a blazin we downed the enemies about 5x faster.

Alright, I'm back up and running. I grabbed a windows media version copy from work that had the drivers I needed and did the install, then got network and video drivers, and am downloading the 1.12 and 2.0 patches. I should be in game a few hours after I get home.
