So a guy came out and wet-vac'd the carpet, then brought it a special fan to dry it. The fan is huge and pretty noisy. My wife is pissed because she can barely hear the TV with it on. But the guy promised he'd be out again tomorrow and re-assess the damage.
Then about 40 minutes ago, we found
another leak.
Nice ceiling bulge in the kitchen.

You can't see it in the photo, but water is leaking out of the tip, dripping all over the microwave and range below.
We called it in again and were told it was just the effects of the earlier leak that they stopped. Apparently the kitchen in the unit above us was flooded. The maintenance guy said he checked the apartment up there and someone really fucked up badly. The first leak was caused by someone yanking the washer out of the wall (they were told not to mess with it) and the second and third were from someone fucking around under the sink.
My wife noticed a wet spot on the carpet near the entrance. I notice a trickle of water coming from the ceiling on the wall to the right and a bulge in the wall. Just touching it makes the wallpaper break and water bursts out all over the place.
It's not so bad, but there's enough water gathering now that I had to put in an emergency call.
Those fuckin' workers...man. I want to know what company it is doing such awful work renovating the place upstairs.
When they fix it, make sure they get it all out of there, otherwise you're going to have a mold/mildew problem.
I heard they're pretty good about taking care of stuff like this here- we know two other tenants who had their places flooded completely-- they were put up in hotels free of charge until the work was done. One couple found a mold/mildew problem after that and were moved into a larger apartment and given a (much) lower rent for a year. I was jealous when I heard how cheap...it was like a $1600 a month three bedroom place, with garage, for $1000 a month.
