Mine's very wrong, I know my last one was a little longer than normal because of a Windows update but it says the last startup time was 2.5 hours.

In Windows 10 you can check the boot up time by going to the task manager (ctrl + shift + esc), select the Startup tab, and you have it in the top right corner. For me it's 17.2 seconds.

It's probably there in Windows 11 as well. It seems like they've kept most of the old systems.

Says last Bios time was 8.1 seconds.

I have a feeling the 1-2 min delay at start up is something with the bios pre-Windows boot? No idea what that could be.

Just ran a stopwatch test.

From cold boot, I hit power and my monitor is a completely black screen for 30 full seconds.
Then windows splash screen pops up, and then takes 10-15 seconds from there.

This seems variable because I know a lot of times it takes longer, but yeah there's a full 30 seconds even here at the start. Feels like I should look into my bios menu and see wtf it is doing. If it's trying to wake up all the HDDs or something that would cause a delay.

I built a stupid cat shitting house and it literally was harder to assemble and worse on my back than my sim-driving rig. I hate assembling furniture so much. Just wish stuff came pre-assembled damnit.

Because the interface has a lot of stupid shit that hides the ball. Especially when you right click and half the options are missing. Really dislike the trend of just getting rid of useful things for simplicity.

today google finally forced me off the old hangouts app on my phone and into the shitty new one, I hate the extra click separating "chat" from "spaces" (groups)

Got a Mechnical Keyboard for this setup.

Mostly got one out of curiousity because they are all the hype these days. Had to surf through a whole ton to just to find a non GAMERZ RGB FLASHING COLORS one. After using it for a day, I don't understand why this is popular?

It feels like I'm typing on a 1950s typewriter. Like I hate laptop keys that are super thin with no good physical feedback, but coming from like pack-in $20 keyboards and like $40-50 logitech wifi dongle keyboards my whole life (including on my main desktop), I do not get why this $160+ mechanical keyboard is so much better. Yeah the keys are raised up so it looks fancy and you press deeper, but idk, doesn't feel much different than my 1/2 depth normal keyboard on my desktop?

Also now I have two setups with 2 keyboards where a few buttons are in different places which is gonna fuck me up. Mostly Delete. My desktop one is sorta tenkey compact size but it has the full numbers on the right? Seems like they don't make keyboards this size anymore. So I got a full CLICKY one for my mechanical.

I don't need programmable keys or LEDs or anything. Just wanted a bluetooth keyboard that feels good to type with. It's solid and I don't dislike it. I just don't feel it's any better than my $20 keyboard after a day.

Ok, moved it to my main desktop to mess around with it some more and get used to the layout and it's growing on me. The backlit thing at night in a dark room is kinda neat. The way all the keys just light up when you brush against them. Also some useful shortcut buttons and being able to be bluetooth sync'd to three devices at once and switch using buttons is helpful for moving between my two stations without having to re-sync the bluetooth.

Linears are like Sanwa buttons for arcade sticks, only most don't have such a low actuation force that you accidentally press them by brushing against the keys. The rest is all about the sound (and collecting what's fashionable atm ). The thing most MK enthusiasts are after these days (besides funky layouts) is a deep 'thock', which they achieve with milled aluminium cases, brass inserts, foam dampening, lubing, and PBT keycaps. People pay upwards of 300$ for a custom and then keep doing it, because they're crazy.
I don't understand that side of the hobby, because most switches are clones or derivatives of Cherry MX switches, so there's not actually all that much actual variety. And yet people rave about material compositions and spring weights and whatnot.

After using this mechanical clicky keyboard for a few days, weirdly enough I'd actually describe it as "mushy" and while I like the feel and am typing pretty fast, I make a few constant typos because my fingers too easily slip over a key while moving to the next key and it registers a press too easily.

I kinda wish the keys are actually tougher to press down so less chance of inadvertent presses. Wonder if that's one of the mechanical keyboard types you can get.

You might adjust to it with a bit more time. Otherwise you could try browns. Most people seem to prefer tactile switches for typing. It's what everyone's used to after all, since rubber domes are all tactile (even if the bump in the force graph is too low and wide for the connoisseurs).

If that's not enough, you're looking at a completely different keyboard and a possible odyssey.

In fairness, it's probably not the browser- I had similar problems when I used Brave browser on an iPad Mini.

...I sold that jelly-scrolling piece of crap off and got another Chrome OS tablet instead.  No more problems.

Today was day 1 with new kittens Dream (boy) and Ren (girl).



Most exhausting day in decades. But eventually things went well and they're doing great now. Already have pretty strong personalities. They're brother/sister litter siblings and Ren is the adventerous one. She hasn't whined once and is super chill and takes her time going to eat or playing with toys. She's already at the top of the cat tree looking down. She marked both litterboxes right away as hers and even though there's two litterboxes neither of them uses one of them.

Dream is a scaredy cat and bolts everywhere when he wants to go somewhere. He's doing good but he whines that he's temporarily restricted to the living room for week 1 to adjust and keeps wanting to explore the rest of the house. Ren doesn't seem to care at all about that and is happy looking at the window, eating good food and taking naps.

They both were super afraid of me at first, but by the end of the night they don't mind me, though I wouldn't say they wanna hang out yet. Will take some time making friends with them.

And they play fight a lot and then nap together.
