Hokuto Musou has individual story modes for five characters (Ken, Rei, Mamiya, Toki, and Raoh), although Ken's is way, way bigger than the others'.
I think Kaizoku Musou may be the first Musou game to have a single story mode where you play as this small an amount of characters, but it's okay, because as Bebpo said they all seem to have a nice amount of moves.
Bebpo, Hokuto Musou isn't slow...it's Kenshiro. He plays that way for whatever reason...other characters do not. As you level him up, Ken does get better. I ended up liking Mamiya the best in that game...found her crossbow to be the most effective. You can just keep blasting enemies from long range before they even get to you!
