WWE shitting all over Maroon 5.  Did they refuse to provide a theme song for them or something?

Why didn't they show the angle setting up Half-Team Heat on the NXT Takeover show last night?  WTF?  :lol

The men's rumble is pretty garbo so far.  I wonder if they're rushing it?  It feels way faster than the women's.

Nakamura's ring gear makes me think "90's Kane" every time I see it.

shins out already  ::)

At least he wasn't relegated to just the pre-show.   :-\

This year in both Rumble matches they did a really good job of highlighting developmental talent (or course, some of those people are "developmental" in name only- Garganno, Black, Pete Dunne, Kairi and Io, etc are better in ring performers than a lot of main roster people) instead of bringing back nostalgia acts for a cheap pop. (other than Jeff Jarrett and bastard McMahon son Hornswoggle, obviously) I very much preferred that tactic to what they did in last year's women's rumble, although I understand why they went that route and enjoyed a lot of the entrants.

It was a weird ppv in a lot of ways- just about the only non-rumble match that I thought was genuinely good was Becky vs Asuka. Gotta question the booking in the Bryan/AJ match- wtf was going on there? That match also had the misfortune to have to follow the women's rumble match, and the crowd was pretty much spent by that point.

God bless Dolph Ziggler for not being afraid to kick Nia Jax, btw. He's the big winner of the night.

We need a ruling from Jack Tunney on these rumble matches.

Glad Asuka won.

And excited to see Shane McMahon win another title. Nothing says you're the boss' son like being a tag team champ and also the world's greatest wrestler.

The Rumble itself has been pretty  :huh for like...a good 5 or 6 years straight, but even by those standards I was pretty baffled at the last ten minutes or so. Nia Jax's involvement at all was  ???, but then she gets in the ring and has dudes bumping around for her, but they're all hesitant to even touch her despite her being bigger than almost everyone still involved and throwing dudes around. She then eliminates Mustafa Ali, a guy who eliminated Joe and Nakamura and recently pinned Daniel Bryan, with ease. Then when Orton hits her with the RKO it's treated like the most devious thing he's ever done and Rey is having a crisis of faith by hitting her with the 619. In the end it took a super kick/619/RKO rush and Orton/Rey double teaming her to eliminate her....but for what? They're obviously not going to book her against men, she's already double the size of everyone in the women's division and regularly gets big spots where she dominates half the roster at the same time.

Then there was the shit where for what seems like the 6th year in a row Dog Ziggler swears he's not going to be at the show and is on a hiatus or leaving the company and is in the Rumble as usually and nothing about that shit is mentioned again. Legit I'm pretty sure he's done this every year since 2014. But then there was the big table spot so you'd forget about Seth and whatever happened to Braun that had him missing for a while leading to Andrade/Ziggler being the "final" 2 men and the crowd was not buying that shit in the least  :lol :lol :lol Seth winning is whatever, they should have done this LAST year when he was red hot again and had all the juice instead of killing his will to live by booking him with Ziggler for 6 months and then Ambrose for the rest of the year.

Both women's matches were really good, their Rumble I thought was fine, nothing really stood out to me besides how they had Rhea Ripley and Charlotte in the match together for a significant chunk of time and they never interacted at all. Ripley's entire gimmick and look right now is because people kept comparing her to Charlotte, so she butched it up, started power lifting, and got mean as hell. Instead we got what felt like 5 instances of Charlotte and Liberty Bell having their "epic" stand off.

AJ/Bryan had a match that wasn't right for the venue or show of that length. That same match in an arena in Chicago not 4 hours into a show could have been :rejoice but that type of methodical, slow, ugly, psychology based match in front of a already worn out crowd in a stadium just didn't gel.  :lol at Erik Rowan being Danny's big vegan heavy. I swear he was wearing a Sabu shirt, too.

Brock/Balor was pretty good for what it was. I'd like to think there's a background story of all these smaller guys starting to crack the Brock code, finally culminating with Seth being able to put together what AJ/Bryan/Balor have done and dethrone him at WM, but I'm sure that's not intentional storytelling from WWE. Whatever the case, get the title off of Brock and if he's going to stick around, just have him pop in for "dream matches" every few months. There's a reason why Andre was never champion. Much like Brock, he was the special attraction and didn't NEED the belt. In an attempt to also make the Universal Championship a special attraction, all Brock having the belt has done is hold the entire Raw roster hostage and no one being able to break out or move up for 2 years. Just throw him on the big 4 against someone who is hot but not in a title match and call it a day with him.

More Nia Jax being unsafe or a work? :thinking

Quote
ORIGINAL: After being attacked and replaced by Nia Jax as the 30th entrant in the men's Royal Rumble, R-Truth had to be held back by agents - Brian "Road Dogg" James being specifically named as one - in the backstage area.  Truth was reportedly "hot" at Nia Jax claiming that she hurt his "ankle and face" during the spot where he was taken out.    Sources add that James had to "hold (Truth) back" from going to "hunt" Jax.

UPDATE: Some readers have pointed out that WWE.com has posted a video of R-Truth looking for Nia Jax seeking an apology for stealing his spot, but there is no footage of people holding him back or any sort of real aggression described above.   At this point, I'm unsure if Truth's reaction away from the cameras was legit, a work or some combination of the two.   I'm just passing along what observers saw backstage and relayed to me.

Ember Moon injured and out for a while.

Quote
WWE conducted a quick interview with Ember Moon, who revealed that she messed up her elbow "really bad" and that the injury will require "immediate surgery." Ember said she doesn't know how long she will be sidelined but that it will be "a while." It appears the injury may have happened after a spot with Alexa Bliss executed a standing moonsault onto Moon but that's just a guess.

I know this isn't the point behind the title belt change, but it's kinda funny to me that the new belt reportedly cost $4k more to have made than the regular belt did.  :lol

Are any of those even an actual loss other than Ambrose? :lol
:whatsthedeal

I read that The Revival weren't allowed out of their contracts and Maria was on Twitter or whatever denying everything.  Ronda too.  Itami is apparently already done and gone from the company as of today.

Watched part of 205 Live for the first time ever on Tuesday night.  Mike Kanellis vs...uh...I forget already- one of the Lucha Underground dudes.  It didn't even matter because the focus was entirely on Maria and what she was saying on commentary.  Mike was boring as hell and I stopped watching after a few minutes.  Interesting that Drake Maverick is still the 205 GM when they got rid of that on Raw and SD, but I guess no1curr.  Saw some faces in the intro montage who I forgot were still with the WWE like Brian Kendrick and TJ Perkins.

They should end 205 Live and replace it with a women's-only show or something.  :doge

Ronda isn't even leaving, she wants to start a family and will come back after that, and if she doesn't get pregnant she'll back sooner.

The rest....no, not really. No single talent is going to be an actual loss for WWE. They've gone out of their way in the past like 8 years to make the brand of WWE the draw, not any individual talent specifically to avoid situations of a top guy going down tanking everything. The Revival and tag wrestling hasn't meant SHIT to main line WWE, so any team leaving beyond the merch money that wouldn't be made with New Day leaving means nothing. Itami's entire run has been a disaster, of course no cruiserweight leaving will mean shit either. Ambrose is trash and has been trash his entire singles run, WWE didn't miss a beat without him when he was out hurt and people were tired of him a month after he returned. The only guy that's been involved in more all time worst trash in the past 5 years is Bray Wyatt, and when they had a 6 month feud....  :yuck :yuck :yuck

TLDR: No

EDIT: I guess it is worth nothing that "Maria and Mike Kanellis request their releases" was also reported a bunch, yet here they are on TV. Anyway, 205 usually has genuinely great main events every other week, but their undercard stuff is almost always dreadfully boring and drawn out in front of dead as can be crowds to make it seem even worse. If there's a gimmick match in the main event, expect shit that should be on a Takeover event.

Honestly WWE has too many fucking people on the roster; they could shed a good portion of it and use people that are languishing doing nothing (assuming they're not the ones leaving) better. They're kind of trying to involve people that have been underutilized lately- Hawkins, Ryder, Mojo Rawley promo, etc.
