also who loves powered up? BECAUSE I FUCKING LOVED POWERED UP. fuck Capcom for not keeping that series going

I've never gotten to play it cause I could not find it when it first came out, and Capcom never released it digitally. Still bums me out.

We were actually gonna get a whole line of remakes on the same vein as Powered up and MHX, but they spent way too much money on the latter and not enough people bought it. Who knew that giving the whole game voice acting and even commissioning an OVA for it was prohibitively expensive?  :yuck

I love MM1.  :'( Makes me sad to see it catch so much flak. I'd rather replay it than MM2 any day of the week (and have!). Feel way more accomplished when i beat it compared to MM2, which is super ez mode even on Hard mode.

The only ones in the main series i can say i dislike are 7 and 9. Have no idea how I forced myself to do Mr, Perfect in 9.

lmao at least they had the decency to do a palette swap, even if they still kept in his stupid jig.

it's amazing how high nes games go for nowadays. I guess a lot of copies moved into collectors houses or trash cans.

Let me bitch and whine about what a proper collection should have in this day and age:

-Mega Man 1-6 NES
-Mega Man 1-5 Gameboy
-Mega Man The Wiley Wars Genesis
-Mega Man 7 SNES
-Mega Man 8 Saturn
-Mega Man & Bass SFC
-Mega Man 9
-Mega Man 10
-Mega Man The Power Battle 1&2
-Mega Man Powered Up PSP
-Mega Man X Street Fighter (why not?)

Am I missing anything?  (Leaving out that bad Game Gear version)  I don't really think that's asking for too much for a collection.

The collection on the PS2 is better than what they're gonna put out  :heyman

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Man_Anniversary_Collection

Should've gone balls deep and have all the NES and SNES Mega Man games, all of the Megaman X series, Megaman Legends 1&2, along with other bonus stuff, for $30 digital and $49.99 physical. Sell different eras of Megaman separately if people want specific games in the franchise.

OH!

From what I can tell, the point of the legacy collection is going for perfect recreations of the games they're doing, on top of tons of extras (aka stuff they're prob gonna rip out of perfect works) rather than just a ROM dump like the Anniversary collection was.

I'd still rather have the ROM dump just for the value of it.

On Xbox 360 this was the only way to play mega man 9 due to bad dpad. It is a concession one must make for mega man. It's the honorable sacrifice. Plus you have to be pretty bad to not play mega man with a stick. Classic mega man, you're mostly ever only going right. You never use up or down and rarely diagonals. Just left and right. Man up.

Any other 2d game, especially fighters, and it'd be a problem, but mega man? Ain't no problem.

I enjoyed most Mega Man games, even Battle Network (except 4). I didn't like Mega Man 5 (NES) and 8 for some reason though. And MM1 (GB) was really frustratingly slow.

I love the Mega Man X games, except for the ones after X4. They've ranged from mediocre to shit. X8 is probably the least mediocre Post-X4 game. It has great gameplay but the difficulty design was trial and error bullshit.

Mega Man Zero is a fantastic series, even the worst one is really good. The combat/controls were godlike, especially when Zero is upgraded with a lot of cool shit. ZX was okay though.. not sure what it exactly is, but they never really to be that great. Definitely feels less fun than the Zero series.

It's mega man. You only ever go left or right. You can play it with a stick.
Analog sticks are okay until the more intense or precise moments. IDK, I found D-Pads far more easier to use than Analogs for 2D Platformers.

Stick is fine for me with MM. :yeshrug Much more reliable than using 360's d-pad. Beat the game multiple times with that stick. Ain't shit to me. Now, I definitely wouldn't be able to play how I play Mega Man 2 with a stick, that's for sure.

For the record, I don't think its unplayable with the stick, just not very ideal to me. I did manage to beat the NES games on the GC anniversary though, wasn't too bad, but I think that might have to do with the GC sticks having octagon gates which helped the precision. (However, the button swap is a hold different story, fuck that swap. Why was that a thing?)

For the life of me I cannot use the 360 analog stick for any 2D games though, but yeah I guess it's better than using its D-Pad though.

Buying Mega Man 9 on 360 is one of the worst gaming mistakes I made last gen. Shit is damn near unplayable.

Mega Man 9 with an analog stick was fine. I'm not saying a dpad wouldn't have been hugely preferable, but let's not go overboard calling it unplayable. I beat it multiple times just fine.

Thanks! I didn't think you were being pedantic. I seriously have reading problems some days. Usually when allergy meds are involved.

I'm sad for the backers, but I'm also sad for the team. It's so weird when you get a revered developer to go back to something it seems like they could do in their sleep, but it turns out they have trouble organizing the project without oversight. I mean, there's NO WAY this stuff about networking should have just crept up on them. And of course it could be about everything else, with networking as an excuse.

It's been a mess for the longest time. And they keep kicking it further and further down the road. Maybe it makes the May 31st release and ends up being a decently fun game, but I've seen little to convince me that either are likely at this point.

That actually doesn't mean anything one way or another. The tutorial should always be the last level a developer creates.
