I don't necessarily think a PMP outclasses an IE....I think it would depend on the company and their collective technology requirements.

I work with a guy on large projects for a hospitals that calls himself a "Pimp" because he's a PMP...please don't be that guy.

i know what you mean, i've never met a network admin making 150k.  network engineer, or consultant sure, but they don't often have CCNA's or CCIE's,

the perk of Net Admin is getting to do nothing most of the time, because most people don't understand what it is that you do in the first place, and i think they earn that by answering questions like these for years

However the problem for an IE unlike a PMP is there are only going to be a few companies that want one of those and are willing to pay for them...such as Large Hospital, F500's, and Tech companies like Amazon. If you think your CCIE is getting your 120k to work for Walmart corporate you have another thing coming.
