Huh, don't you have a set rent written down on your lease? That should protect you from that shit, unless it's specifically says they're allowed to raise it at any time they'd like.

I got my apartment back in 2010. I honestly don't remember what the terms of the lease were. I just know that they held it in place for the first 5-6 years, then started raising it. But I THINK this apartment is rent controlled since each raise hasn't been much more than 3%/yr.

Ask for a copy of your lease. But you're probably on month to month if you haven't had to sign a new one each year or something. So that means that yes, they can basically raise it whenever they want barring any local/state laws that limit it outside of the terms of the contract. Sign a long term lease and lock yourself in for a while.

I want to switch fields but i have too much debt so i have to work for a couple of years cause i picked a degree i ended up not liking. I am 33, i want to get a phd in another semi related field, ill be in my 40s when im done with school if i live that long. I pretty much need to give up on the wife kids shit to make up for my mistake. And i have a poor retired parent to balance in the act and shitty genetics to deal with.

One of the few things that keeps me going is my 22 year old cousin. Love the kid , he is my role model. Got in at google after grad in dev lol.

Leases around here auto-renew unless you give them like a two months' heads-up. Month-to-month is super uncommon (and should honestly be the norm, but whatever...)

Yeah, you're right. It's been month to month after like the second year I think. But yeah, I should definitely check out the agreement and sign a long term lease since I don't foresee moving out any time soon (my place is pretty great).

This has to be a little vague, but: I've been working with a family member on something for the last month, earlier in the month I severely fucked it up, and then I lied to him for the entire month hoping he wouldn't find out. He found out and chewed me out for over an hour on the phone.

Sucks. Had to cancel my date tonight with the cute guy I met last night just cause of how awful I feel right now. And this will probably fuck some things up for the foreseeable future too.

Only thing to do is move forward I guess.

As a silver lining, I've been terrified of him finding out all month, to the point my heart felt a little stressed when I'd think about it, and I guess I don't have to worry about that anymore.

Beginning jaundice again, just like I had September last year, still without being much wiser to what is actually doing this to me. Liver enzymes spiking up and down, and worst of all, the intense itching that makes me unable to get any rest at all. Back to medication and phenobarbitals in the slight hope of it calming me down enough at night to sleep. If it isn't the itching, it's the thoughts of what it can be. They tested me for everything in the fucking world at this point, scanned me with everything they got, and I am still nervous it is some kind of cancer or whatever. I can barely go out shopping some food as it is right now, so thankful I got my mother living close by. But also sucks to be dependent on her as much as I have been, especially last year when she took a month off work just to take care of me.

Been struggling with chronic pain the past few months, and the medicine I’ve been using to manage the pain is becoming ineffective. From what I understand, the only other drug for my situation is an opiate drug that they probably won’t prescribe me/insurance won’t pay for.

Talking to a doctor about it tomorrow, but his preliminary email response to my initial question wasn’t very promising.

My grandma was like that towards the end and it drove my sister and mom apart a bit. My sister couldn't understand why mom was treating it like she was basically already gone but it was like dealing with an entirely different person already, a stranger. Just be sure to be there for both of them, you have to be patient with her and your mother but don't forget to seek support for yourself as well. It hurts to see now but you'll be grateful for the small moments you guys share now, later.

It really helps that I live a 3 minutes walk from their house, so I can help them with cleaning, cooking and grocery shopping when I have time. We're applying for at-home help for them a couple times a week, which should be good because they can't keep their place clean anymore, and my grandma has problems showering by herself etc. I just try to spend as much time with them as I can tbh.

My grandma is really stubborn, she got a walker but she refuses to use it, which doesn't make things better. She always pride herself in her athletic past, and will hide the walker in a room whenever she has guests over.

That sucks, Val. My grandma was misdiagnosed with schizophrenia her whole life (she was actually bi-polar) and my mom had to take care of her since an early age. We've had some crazy situations to deal with, so I know what you're going through.

Was having a drink with friends in the fenced-off outside area of my fave bar. Sun went down beautifully, but after it got dark some jackass drunk came around threatening to burn down our "cigarillo bar." Bartenders called the cops, there was a pair of plaincloth cops across the street that decided to do jack shit and watch "the fireworks" so to speak.

Drunk eventually fucked off after an hour of this shit.

Well this pregnancy didnt work out

Went for a scan and it was a bit too little to tell, but then my wofe started bleeding last night so guess thats it.

So far were on 3 pregnancies and 1 kid. Hope next one is kid 2.

Edit: apparently bleeding stopped so who knows whats going on
