Ok, so what the fuck do Amiibos do? Looking at stocking stuffer things for the kid, is there any reason to get them for Animal Crossing or Smash Bros?

the animal crossing amiibo cards let u move in that villager to your island. the smash bros figures make a custom cpu fighter that you can level up by fighting it.

My daughter has a bunch of Pokémon gashapon figures we got on our trip to Japan, maybe I’ll just get her more of those instead.

Or if you want all the digital benefits without the ridiculous prices for space wasting dust collectors, you can get off brand amiibo cards.  :jared

I haven't tried them myself, as even I who could care less for this junk, own 2 Zelda amiibos for BOTW... in which they give you a chest of items every 24 hours..

So, Nintendo should get rid of a console that's breaking sales records left, right and centre, and release a Fire Stick instead? Hmm.

We'll let you mull that thought over in the comments.

It's rare that I use my Switch as a handheld.

I know others who do the opposite and never use them docked- a lot of these people jumped on the Lites when they came out.  But that's the nice thing about the regular model- you can do whatever you want.  If anything, it would have made more sense for Pachter to have said something like they should make a dock for the Lite model or sell new Lite models that can connect directly up to TVs with USB-C (and adapters).

Might double dip on NMH 1&2 if they look/run better. Will wait for Digital Foundry breakdown.

Great games but already own them.

Bravely Default 2 in February

Yeah, gonna wait to see what reviews/word of mouth is on this one from the fanbase. Heard pretty bad things about the demo and the art style is a bit iffy. It's also not the original team that went on to make Octopath Traveler so who knows. I still haven't finished BD1 at like 30 hours in.

In portable mode it seems like it's mostly a locked 60 fps, only dropping when looking through the smoke effects.

No More Heroes 2 port has added back in the camera control from the first game. In the Wii version you couldn't control the camera, just focus it behind Travis.

I feel like it was also 30 FPS back on the Wii. Bumped up to 60 now, but the same drops when too many particles show up on the screen.

Edit: I'll get out the Wii to check.

The open world in the first No More Heroes still tanks the framerate. Listened to the games with monitor headphones and the audio quality seems pretty low as well sadly.

Betting this will happen later on, either as a release in Asia and/or a limited production run from one of the many small publishers doing that.

Unless it's a franchise I care about like Gundam/One Piece/Berserk, I get bored of musou games after 30 mins or so. Even Berserk I didn't finish but that was because it was a pretty sucky effort.

Will play Final Fantasy Musou whenever they make that one. DQ Heroes was pretty fun but not a big DQ character fan.

I gave Nintendo shit in the past for this, but this generation in general has horrible quality control for controllers and controller drift. My Xbone controllers typically get fucked up after a couple hundred hours of use. Specifically analog stick drift.

Both Nintendo and Microsoft have class action lawsuits over controller issues. Seems like console hardware failure is incredibly low or squashed, while controllers got the shit end of the stick this gen.

Chinese-language ports of the Crossbell games and the first 2 CS games are coming for Switch.
Let's see if they make their way over here...
If anything, this gives a bit more hope for an official English Crossbell release.

Bit of contact spray should get that working again. It's not like in the joycons where the entire mechanic they use is broken.

Berserk was OK play-wise, but just so generic.  I only got it on Vita and got so bored with it.  The Arslan game they did around the same time was much worse and my pick for worst Koei musou ever.

But they did a great job with One Piece after the 'eh' original.  Hyrule Warriors is also awesome.  Can't wait! :hyper

Yeah, my favorite licensed Musous in recent history are One Piece Musou 2/3, Gundam Musou 3 and DQ Heroes 2.

I wish I cared about Zelda lol, I like Zelda games for the dungeons/bosses, don't care about the characters/world at all. There's still a lot of licenses that would be good fits for musou so I'm hoping they start branching into some new ones.

Either that or make another Gundam Musou. Been a while and there's a lot of new Gundam mechs since then that they can add.

Wow, that framerate docked. It's been probably months since I played a Switch game and I always forget that after PS5/XSX are out it'll be almost 2 generations behind technology. Switch Pro needs to happen asap  :doge

Game seemed alright. I thought Link's moveset was pretty boring but Impa was solid musou fun. Kinda got bored of it by the end of stage 1 tho. Not my thing. I think the only way I'd stick with this if it was if the playable cast list was huge.
