Probably. Between Switch and PS4 there are a lot of surprising physical releases from either small publishers or regional releases. Almost feels like the PS2 days.

Could mean nothing, but one of the Limited Run Games guys tweeted out that he's looking to get all of Suda 51's games on every platform.  My guess is they're going to announce a No More Heroes 1+2 physical release.

Looks like marvel finally dropped to $45, anybody dip this?

https://www.amazon.com/Marvel-Ultimate-Alliance-Black-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B07L6WMT8Z?creative=9325&camp=1789&linkCode=ur2&ie=UTF8&tag=slickdeals&ascsubtag=d54b63c2231711ebbbecee2e757ac07b0INT

It's worth checking out if you want some generally mindless button-mashing beat-em-up-esque fun.  Note that it does have paid DLC with more characters and missions.

It's a good game. Story covers all the major characters and locations with a lot of cool villains. The expansion pass gets you an extra 13 characters, but there's only 1 new story chapter. I had a good time with it.

Man, $45 still feels like a lot considering it's old at this point.

I'll grab it at $20 whenever it gets there. It's not like this is a 1st party Nintendo game. It should drop.

Nintendo Published it and it's exclusive to the system, though.  Doesn't seem like it's going to drop any quicker than other titles from them.

It's already back up to $60 now from Amazon directly.

It's weird how they're cutting the legs off so many of their games like that. Nobody is spending 60 bux on MUA3, Yoshi or Astral Chain anymore. But it took until Black Friday 3 years later for them to discount Pokemon Let's Go  :lol

Maybe theoretically possible but they'd probably have to do something like port the Wii's Bluetooth stack to the Switch OS, or at least the drivers or something.

What's really exciting is that any improvements they're making to their GC emulator in the name of Sunshine will benefit other games too. Really excited for future Nintendo collections or digital releases of GC and Wii games. :D

Beat Breath of the wild for the first time after 90 hours. Its really easy to point out its shortcomings as a Zelda game, but in a general sense, it's a monumental game. Exploration and discovering new areas and sights started to get old after about 70 hours, which in a average open world game, is like 4-5.

Least favorite part are the dungeons, but I'm 99% sure BOTW2 is gonna get that a lot more right. Introduce gadgets and items that don't break after usage (hookshot, pickaxe, spike boots), while keeping weapon degradation. For as simple combat was, it was very satisfying and always fun. Just needed more enemy types.

The guardian abilities were neat, but could've been more meaningful. For example, doing the Zora guardian should've given you the ability to swim likes dolphin, fast as fuck, thru all water. Doing the Rito guardian should've given you the ability of limited free flight, ect.

Absolutely one of the best and most important games this gen. I think the majority of open world games age poorly over time, this will stand next to Rockstar's output as a GOAT open world game.

It’s absolutely nuts how great of a game BOTW is while still having so much room for growth/improvement in a sequel.

Breath of the Wild 2 is going to be off the fucking chain.

Was messing around with Switch just now and tried that Mario 35. Doesn't seem to work as well as Tetris 99 did for this battle royale style? Matches seem to take a lot longer.

help a dumb lamestream xbot dadcore gamer here: debating getting switch lites for four, yes four, kids... not really interested in a 'proper switch' as they don't need to game on the tv and i don't want removable parts as it seems like a vector for damage. so what's the best way to go about this?

are all games disc/carts or are there digi downloads too? what good kid-oriented multiplayer games are out there? animal crossing seems up their alley as do the mario-type games so that seems obvious enough.

edit: do you have to pay for local multiplayer or just the nintendo online thing? dumb q i know but nintendo is kinda dumb sometimes.

Yep, releases are dual format (physical/digital) since 3DS.

Overcooked 2 is a really fun indie focused on local multiplayer. Snipperclips is inexpensive and fun the first time through.

For first party, Smash/Kart/Animal Crossing of course. If you're looking into multiplayer Mario action, I'd recommend the 2D New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe over the upcoming Super Mario 3D World. But who knows, maybe your kids prefer 3D over 2D.

ARMS might be good but I can't vouch for it myself.

Nah just gotta pay for online. But you should consider springing for a Nintendo Switch Online family plan.

- Online multiplayer (obvs)
- Selection of 50+ NES games, some retrofitted with local/online multiplayer
- Selection of 30+ SNES games , some retrofitted with local/online multiplayer
- Tetris 99 for free (excluding DLC)
- Mario 99 for free (for a limited time)
- Cloud Saves in most games (including, finally, Animal Crossing)
- The iOS/Android app is starting to get some features, mostly for Animal Crossing (like catalogue search and reaction triggering)

IIRC, the Nintendo online family plan is $34.99 for one year, but there are (were?) deals to get it for $20 during Black Friday sales.

Yep, releases are dual format (physical/digital) since 3DS.

There are a lot of digital-only titles, but most big releases are both.  If you're going to be buying some of these games four times, it's probably a better choice to go with physical copies, since that way you can get away with buying four smaller (and cheaper!) micro SD cards for extra data storage. (The Switch does have some on-board storage, but it's fairly small.)  Plus physical games tend to get price reductions or lower sale prices than eShop titles.

One case for getting say, three Switch Lites and one regular Switch would be so that one console could be used on a TV with one copy of a game that they might all play multiplayer together, like Smash or Mario Kart.

Avoid New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe if you're getting each kid a system- it's local-only on ONE console.  There's a number of games like this, but a lot of these also offer online multiplayer which would work as long as you have their online plan.  You can check what multiplayer options are available on the eShop (should also be on the Nintendo website)- games might have different numbers of players available depending on whether or not it's on one console, local wireless, or online.

Some games with four player local (wireless) multiplayer:

Super Smash Bros
Super Mario Maker 2
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Animal Crossing New Horizons
Pokemon Sword/Shield
ARMS
Puyo Puyo Tetris
Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz
Rocket League
Mario Tennis Aces
Super Bomberman R
Splatoon 2
Fast RMX (digital only)
Dragonball FighterZ
Hotshot Racing

How old are the kids?  If any are young enough, expect for at least one or two games to end up lost.  The Switch's physical game carts aren't Vita small, but still pretty small.

That's true- might make a good case for going digital.  When my kid is old enough, I think I might go this route to not have to worry about it.

You can do 2 at a time. One account buys the game and gets set to primary and any other user on that Switch can play, then the other Switch can play only on the original buying account. I've used it to play Animal Crossing with my sister.

Nintendo's marketing sort of implied exactly what they wanted from it. To relive the fall of Hyrule 100 years ago and the demise of its champions as portrayed in Breath of the Wild.

It's very much a bait and switch but that's Nintendo for ya :lol

What Zelda storylines are: fairytale fantasy with some Japanese environment/spiritual worship with a bit of bittersweet and dark themes.

What some diehard Zelda fans want it to be: A cohesive fantasy universe that has a ton of lore and meaning and "deep" themes and exploration of greater themes.

Never understood the amount of attention people give to Zelda regarding story.

As a Zelda series fan, I generally enjoy the lore and timeline discussion, though you're not wrong with the fairytale fantasy description.  I think the mistake a lot of other Zelda fans make is the same dipshit obsession that seems to possess such a large amount in Star Wars and Star Trek fandom as well: taking the fiction of it far too seriously.  There's also this weird tendency of "NOT MY ZELDA" groups in the series fandom going back at least since the gamecube (but probably even back to Zelda 2) where any major changes in a game is met with derision and complaints.  *insert Miyamoto zelda post meme here*

That subset of wailing infants within the fandom that seemingly want the Zelda series to be as rote and formulaic as Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty are sad and pathetic, and should be rightly mocked.

Anyone playing diablo 3 season 22 on switch? I went crusader and am pretty much dialed in with a few exceptions. Gonna need some help getting 2 more conquests if anyone else is running this. Pissed off that the set you get for crusader doesn’t have a set dungeon, so that’s the other thing I need to do is assemble a different set to clear that part of the season. I mean, I probably have one in stash at this point, but I need to look at it and figure out which one will be easiest to master
