It's time for your irregular French workplace romcom (it's as slow paced and vapid as the real one !) :

As France is in a state of Virus Wars™ and rumors of a mandatory 45 days curfew enforced by the military are brimming through rebellious Paris & with the uncertainties of ever seeing her again for over a month...

She accepted my invite on LinkedIn a few days ago. No messages exchanged though. She knows my first name now. We chit chatted a bit while she was working and my coffee break got super long (not that I think anyone will notice amidst Corona chaos, my supervisors were long gone when I took my shift...).
She lives alone and was considering moving back to her parents (elsewhere in France) in case of a strict lockdown. It's not a hard confirm she's single but there's a good chance still.

As I said she's super social so I can't really extrapolate too much on that but she certainly doesn't mind talking to me.

French lockdown not as stringent as feared so maybe another episode of this excruciating drama tomorrow.

James, take this with a grain of salt because I don't have all the details down, and you're probably playing it up for us, but it really comes across as you grasping at straws and trying too hard with her. It's awkward being stuck with an ex in a flat, I get that. But if she wants you, she'll let you know (especially if you've been transparent about how you feel). I agree with shosta that some space would be good, provided it's ok in that Coronavirus crisis. If not and she stays here, don't game ulterior motives.

Indeed we are doin pretty well. We’ve had some spouts of general annoyance but there is always some friction when you move in together. I was finally starting to build the kindling of a social circle here in the new town and getting out of the house (out of her hair too) but that’s fucked up for now.

The only really rough night so far was when she had a couple friends over which I used as an excuse to drink until I started spilling out my hot takes on Bernie, Biden and the state of our nation. Who knows what I actually said but I was drunk enough that I may have caused irreparable embarrassment lol

But all in all, we’re doing really good. I just remind myself to not take shit for granted. I used to get super bummed thinking about all of the day to day things we were missing out on. Now we just get to slow it down and chill. No more rushed itineraries during a visit, no more “wish you were here” texts throughout the day, we just get to kick it and enjoy the moment.

I just gotta keep my shit together while she is in this last year of med school and I think everything might fall into place. Who knows though I have unexplainable skill in fucking up good things.

I appreciate that, but:

I knew opening an account on Grin-"No Fats, No Femmes, No Blacks"-dr was gonna be trying. But it still hurts everytime it happens. I thought the date went well, but in retrospective I can definitely see the discomfort.

I mean the gay community has a real bad able-bodied (and white race) problem in regards to desires. So I'm playing on Super Dark Souls Hard Mode when it comes to sex and relationships, but it sucks everytime.

I'm not saying this person is that way (Able-bodied only) they stuck out the date (when I gave them an out on their surprise/assumptions being wrong out of the gate: "You don't have to stick around. You can leave if you want..." "I already ordered my food, so..." [You could just change it to go...?]). So they're a good person. They were very nice, and at least they were upfront and honest about it when they said they'd follow up with me when the date was over. So I appreciate them being honest. I'm just hurt/crying a little because this is something I face even in non-relationships/job interviews and the like when the disability pops-up/questions things and it sucks.

I held off on dating after recovering from the flu because of all this covid stuff.

But then I saw a meme about how if you want to date a girl now you gotta be ready to be penpals for months first before the sex.

And unironically I thought, hey, that'd actually be really nice to meet someone and just talk to them for now and maybe some facetime and stuff and see if there's a real connection to build up before meeting and fucking.
Because of stuff, been working A LOT right now, but once things calm down a little I think I'm gonna get back active on the dating sites and be straight up in my profile that I'm just looking to talk and make a connection for now given the situation,

will see how it goes. Was hoping to meet someone this year and get married next year or two by 40, but was thinking Covid basically put off dating for 12-18 months so I wouldn't be able to get back into dating until I was almost 40. But maybe not. Maybe it's the best time to find true love
