Seems like the best way to do this is get rid of gender based sports and instead base it on their weight and other measurable attributes.

If you hit the certain criteria of physical attributes (muscle mass, bone desnsity, weight, etc) you go into the heavy or light leagues. Abolish the WNBA and make it the light, take the regular NBA and make it the heavy. Hell, just split the NBA and WNBA for example into a light and heavy for each if need be.

Then the third study isn't really a study but a literature review that cites the previous studies.

Now to be more serious about it, life is about what you want it to be, I personally enjoy the CRAP out of video-games and they genuinely make me happy. I finished KH3 earlier today and the feeling that game give me is out of this universe, I wouldn't change it for anything and I've been gaming for the last 27+ years of my life. I have met and bonded with most of my best friends thanks to videogames, and these bonds are what makes life worth living for me.

Now for some harsh reality: There is no purpose or objective in life, we're all going to die, just have fun and stop worrying about shit like "respecting a medium".

Games are the medium I respect the most after books, the interactivity is just too good.

I saw Haley Joel Osment at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I'm guessing you guys have never seen any movies beyond big budget and indie US/UK stuff, right? Because cinema was the intellectual art form of the 20th century, and although cinema has always been populist, it's also always been intellectual and art based, right from the start. Antonioni, Visconti, Bergman, Denis, Varda, Rohmer, Eisenstein, Fassbinder, Kieslowski, Ray, Ozu, Bresson, Vertov, Kobayashi- the list goes on and on and on.

You don't get any games on this level, because video games came of age at a different stage of capitalism, and therefore have never received the academic engagement or public funding required to make expensive, large scale intellectual media. When our economic system eventually changes dramatically, interactive media will certainly be a fascinating platform for intellectual expression.

That's like saying you don't acomplish anything by going to university (in order to study, rather than get a job). Or basically like saying that anything which has intellectual fulfilment, rather than material fulfilment, is pointless. Boring, right wing thinking.

Art films have been made since the birth of cinema, first as photographic experiments, and then as features as soon as it became viable (L'Inferno came out in 1911). From the late 1910s and the 1920s you had Vertov, Eisenstein (both able to work because of the Russian revolution), Dreyer, Gance, Lang, Wiene, the rise of Dadaism, Surrealism and German Expressionism as artistic movements which also included film, and then you're into cinema's mature period. Cinema has always been an intellectual art form because it began just as photography, long dismissed as novelty, was itself becoming a respected artistic form. Cinema is particularly fascinating, because early shorts, which were shown mainly for pure popular spectacle, were themselves grounds for huge amounts of experimentation with photography and form, which allowed art cinema to really develop in the 1910s.

And I never said that art cinema doesn't exist now. But if cinema had come of age in the 1980s, art cinema wouldn't exist now. It's not about the will to make work like that, it's about the practical aspects of training, intellectual reflectivity, and state funding. They just don't exist for contemporary art forms (and barely for cinema anymore in the US and UK).

It seems like USA powerlifting is either too lazy or unwilling to do the research like the IOC and realize that (assuming hormone levels are in the correct range) there should be no difference in athletic prowess.

We had people talking about the reason for the ban being "common sense" and talking about how a ban prevents men from posing as women to sneak into women's divisions. I'm going to play the world's smallest violin for the people who can't make those arguments anymore, as well as the people who willfully or stupidly didn't read the mod post.

The point is to prevent bigoted ignorance from being propagated. This isn't a classroom, and they even got an exhaustive list of resources that demonstrate the evidence that suggests the ban is without basis. A drive-by agreement with unfounded claims only spreads dangerous misinformation.

The people being banned either didn't read the educational material offered to them in the very first post, or they decided that learning was stupid.

Most forums use a word filter to enforce standards of conduct, because you can avoid having to drop a heavy handed punishment on someone for using a word that is deemed unacceptable and its not actually a big deal if you use it (or even continue to use it) because it replaces it with something inoffensive and you don't need to worry about user intention, whether it was a typo, whether they just have different standards of offensive where they're from, whatever.

This is in sharp contrast to era where there absolutely is a list of verboten words and phrases, but its not listed anywhere and if you use one you'll get banned (even if you edit it out, because someone will have quoted you and said NUH UH after hitting report).
