The only option where you won’t have a “c stick” is split up joycons, huh? I’m gonna go have some coffee

Even though I got an official GameCube Smash controller I heard the third party Hori and PDP ones are pretty good as well.
The PDP one allows you to swap out the C-Stick for a normal second analog stick. Plus both the Hori and PDP controllers have home buttons and such, which the offiical controller lacks.

I finally finished World of Light last night, but didn't get a 100%. I don't know what I'm missing, but there are 615 fights/events. I have 613 completed. I don't wanna run around this big ass map again. :'(

Nvm, found them pretty easily. They were a few fights on the main map that were too hard for me early on.

I'm having fun playing as Mega Man. He's got some cool moves but not a lot of moves that can finish people off.

Also, I think they might nerf Snake's missile in the next patch. That thing's crazy  :lol

I'm alright with Marth, I just need more practice with him. I still struggle to kill with Zero Suit Samus, but she's fun as ever to use. Out of all the new characters, I play the best with Incineroar and Inkling so far. I also like King K. Rool, Ridley, and Simon, but I need to spend more time with them.

I keep coming back to Villager. His fair/bair are just so fun to ledge guard and juggle with. Amazing recovery and Smash attacks too.

Only drawbacks are a slow speed (but not too slow, like BJr levels.)

Shame since I wanted to pick up a new main with this game. Richter is close but I'm still wrapping my head around his playstyle.

Been spending more time with Lucas and I'm happy that my effort is yielding results. Recovery is still tricky but I'm more consistently pulling off his advanced skillset. He's actually probably my main after Villager at this point.

I wear the Claus outfit since my lone Lucas Amiibo/FP is default outfit and named "Lucas," so it's like they're reunited when we play together. :heart

One of the easy advantages for low level play are projectiles. They are much more useful in this game than before and one of the few advantages that not-Fire Emblem characters have.

I'm also thinking about remapping the C-Stick to tilt moves instead of smash moves. It opens up a lot of more combo's.

Tilt stick is the way to go. Tap jump off too.

Been having a lot of trouble re-learning how to short hop and so been thinking about mapping jump to Z (or L/R on Pro Controller.)

Short hop is easy in this. Jump button + attack at the same time. I have them right next to each other. I was having trouble trying to do it how I did in previous games, but this way is much easier in Ultimate.

Also, this is the first Smash where I mapped tilt to the C-stick. Don't know why I didn't do this sooner.

Tilt stick is a revelation. Did it with Smash 3DS and haven't turned back since.

Didn't know that about jump+attack but I deliberately have been trying to avoid meta-related stuff for at least a month.

Any good guides for beginners? I had Melee back in the day but didn't really like it back then - partially because I never really got the hang of it.

In my experience Smash is best learned just playing the game. It's fairly easy to learn but difficult to master.
Once you're good enough to clear out a few classic runs without dying and figuring out which character you like you can dive into the more advanced techniques.

A good character to start with his Kirby. He can fly like he does in the Kirby games so his recovery is good. Mario is also a good starter.
They have very distinct moves so you get a hang of all the different types of moves a character can do.

The Fire Emblem characters and characters introduced later are a bit harder to pick up and play because there's certain combo's or characteristics you need to find out about first.
Marth for example deals the most damage with the tip of his blade.

X vs. Zero plays in the background
Midgar as stage
Sigma = Ganondorf with Laser sword
Me = Marth

Reward = Mega Man

and another Lucas dressed with a Masked Man shirt. This was on the Yoshi's Island sunflower stage, since the sunflower field is where really sad part of Mother 3 takes place

I have a question that's only like 20% Ninthingery and 80% curiosity: how many other games have put *this* level of effort into not only creating a massive ton of content, but making sure it's all well-researched and reflects 40+ years of video game history?

There's references in other games, Mario Oddessey for example had a ton of winks to previous Mario game and BOTW referenced different Zelda games.
But nothing quite as crazy as they do with Smash Bros. .

I love the character animations in this game. Every character moves and behaves exactly the way they should.

My worst online losses last night came from a Chrom player and an Inkling player. I could barely touch either of them with Lucas. I don't know if they were doing some advanced movement shit that I haven't learned about or if they simply were just better than me.

Rumored DLC list. Mostly used as cross promotions

- Edrick from Dragon Quest
- DOOM Guy (DOOM Eternal)
- Ryu Hayabusha (Ninja Gaiden 30th Anniversary)
- Steve from Minecraft

Additional rumor: due to the success of the game Nintendo is thinking about a season 2 fighter pass with another batch of fighters.

I seem to be gravitating towards Bowser and Zero Suit Samus but I'd like to learn Bayonetta, Bowser Jr., Villager, Duck Hunt, and Isabelle.  I think Bowser's probably my best but I suck at Smash and need to learn a lot.  Forgot how much I enjoyed using Jr. in the last Smash.

Might pick up Ryu and Ken too.  It's fun doing SF stuff.   :)  Thought I'd love Simon and Richter but I dunno.  And I like Pokemon Trainer too.  Three characters in one!

Haven't played villager but isabelle seems like you should be as campy as possible. Put down your rocket, hide behind it, use slingshot and fishingrod to harass from a distance. Run away when necessary and be so annoying that your opponent loses the will to go on.
