Also, in the clip above which is what apparently sparked this latest kerfluffle, Slavoj again says he mostly agrees with Peterson about "political correctness" being a bit out of control in academia and language policing being bad in general...he just disagrees that it's Marxism, Cultural or other. Also he thinks Peterson's book* sucks.

*He may mean Maps of Meaning because I heard him say this in the past before the 12 steps self-help book came out.

Zizek's explanations, even when he convolutes them, also shows how much more familiar with this part of the academic world than Peterson is, who is trying to break into it from the outside at age 50 or whatever. Peterson sees a Cultural Marxist plot with tentacles everywhere. Zizek basically will say it's a mostly silly trend in certain places sustained by a groupthink and so on and so on that you can pretty much ignore most of.

Which is more or less the argument we had here with etoliate and then Assi.

I forwarded this on to somebody else who loves the raccoon, and I started thinking, I wonder if Peterson has ever debated/discussed with a politics professor, or history, or etc.

Part of the problem with Zizek is that some of his politics stuff is more of a hobby than his formal work which is more around theory and ideology, in terms of Marxism there's probably easier people to debate and more specifically in terms of what Peterson wants to talk about there has to be far better choices. The problem would be of course than Peterson is a clinical psychologist dipping his toe into political theory because he has a Grand Theory of the Universe he's trying to put together. But you can tell that's what draws Zizek's attention in regards to Peterson, his Grand Theory blaming "Cultural Marxism" for all evils.

I guess I'd be more interested in seeing Peterson ram headlong into a political history wall.

So our boy Wank Dad made a couple of tweets saying that if you use the term "denier," in basically any context, to criticize someone, thus linking them to Holocaust denier, that shows that you are incapable of civilized discourse. Only problem is, he made a tweet a couple of years ago calling a college professor "biological sex denier." Of course tons of people called Daddy P on his apparent hypocrisy and he promptly deleted those tweets. Real intellectual bravery right there.

It recommends based on the subject, not on content. So if uou ever watched a video that is on the opposite ideological side of the spectrum from Molineux but covers some of the same topics he does, you might get a recommendation.
