I feel you on that but It's not that it's hopeless. It's just the solution is that white people on a cultural level have to recognize the indoctrination of white supremacy and willingly stop it. But they seem content to dance around the crux of the matter.
Which is why it's hopeless.

Either through an inherent empathy with racists because they look like friends and family ("if the blacks punish that guy, they'll come for my folks next") or an actual desire to maintain that power dynamic at whatever cost for whatever reason, white people as a whole are not going to do anything about white supremacy.

I was born in the wrong time to have a chance in hell for a post-white supremacist society. Oh well; I've got Overwatch at least.

Personally, I blame the 33 other types of white people who work at CDPR, not my type of white people.

Also the blacks, for not stopping black on black violence worldwide.

So...

I mean, recognizing and pushing back against white supremacy is super tangential to one dude being a racist... that aside however, wouldn't trying to find an understand of the root of this one dude's racism and then working to resolve his racist misconceptions and feelings be the ideal way for a white ally to help? If his struggles with racism stem from a mental illness or autism or if they stem from family or even his own dark heart, we still have to understand the problem before we can solve it.

Do they really think they can punch racism away?

WTF?  :lol

Pogi's last posts:

https://www.resetera.com/threads/this-communitys-way-of-handling-metacommentary-i-e-introspection-is-abysmal-but-it-doesnt-have-to-be.125541/
Quote from: PogiJones, member: 10542
A thread where the OP was concerned about this place making them feel for depressed: Closed for metacommentary.
A thread where the OP was praising this place: Left open.
A thread where the OP was concerned at the lack of empathy on this site regarding Etika's suicidal video: Closed for having "no purpose but metacommentary about the community."

The trend is clear, and this "metacommentary is okay only if it's praising us" policy is extremely toxic. There's a real concerted effort to keep underlying problems here as hidden as possible. A cancer loves nothing more than to be hidden away with make-up. This is becoming more and more apparent with each passing day.

"PM a mod" is the refrain. But when there's a cultural problem, the community as a whole needs to discuss it. Individual PMs that may or may not be answered just don't cut it.

The rule should not be to never discuss our community's problems. Discussing our community's problems is the only way to fix them. Burying them just makes it worse.

The rule should instead be to ensure sincerity and civility when discussing our problems. Not shutting down all community criticism in the most counter-productive ways.

Quote from: PogiJones, post: 22222091, member: 10542
I appreciate the introspection and attempt to be better. More bans is not the answer, though.

The reason people were so toxic and dismissive to Etika is because he'd been "cancelled." Being cancelled has come to mean that you deserve everything you get. The justification of treating other humans like garbage because you believe they're garbage for their mistakes is exacerbated by ostracizing people in the wrong instead of including and talking with them, like with Professor Beef.

The way you handled Professor Beef's screw-up was correct the first time: He realized he made a mistake, and apologized. Course corrected. Now you've punished him just to satiate people who want heads to roll. The reason this whole community is toxic is because people are always looking for heads to roll, and the staff usually chooses to oblige.

I'm not saying you should never ban, but the answer to this toxicity is not to appease people looking for more bans, but to encourage civility and course correction and forgiveness. The emphasis you guys put on punishing wrongdoers is exactly how we end up with a community that treats Wrongdoer Etika the way they did. Your "solution" to the community is the exact opposite of what it should be, and is counterproductive.

Quote from: PogiJones, post: 22226893, member: 10542
How does my saying "Your well-intentioned choice of action is counterproductive to the goal we'd all like to achieve" "reek of intolerance toward mods" as you put it? How are you seeing any iota of intolerance in there at all, let alone it "reeking" of it?

LOOK AT ALL THAT CROSS-FORUM DRAMA!

PogiJones getting permabanned because he has a bore account.  :lol
I love Pogi and he's my honorary kuya but he didn't get banned because he has a bore account, he got banned because he made multiple threads trying to sow dissent against the stasi staff, PM'd people to create an underground solidarity movement, posted those PMs here frequently, encouraged people to join a forum whose principle attraction besides heated culinary debate is a cross forum peanut gallery, and made extremely long careposts petitioning for "comprehensive deepening of reforms [...] and a rehabilitation of formerly purged [officials]." Vaguely messianic and commendable but it's really no surprise that what he was doing for MONTHS finally spurred FinaleFührer to decisive action once the constitutional limitations were removed and his emergency powers were fully activated.

Now, if you want an example of someone who got banned because they have a bore account, that would be 213372bu. #freemyphriend

There was no post it was attached to. My guess is someone sent mods a screenshot of me saying I deserved likes for my thread, and they interpreted that as me being insincere.

Yeah, I only posted in politics and sports threads, and the politics thread got kind of insane, and there's much better sports talk on reddit and Slaent.

I was done after Pigeon baited me into a ban in some argument and I realized how prevalent the meta-game was. I made a couple posts after coming back, but then said fuck it and asked B-Dubs to ban me.

I think I had some words with Lonewulfeus in that same argument, but that part is long forgotten.

I mean if they had banned him that same day, lots of people would have noticed in that thread and called them out. His death warrant was signed that day, but they didn't want to make him a martyr.

They waited for that thread to run its course, and then hit Pogi with that digital polonium tea.

Thats how Amirox banned me.

Heated discussion in thread. 2 days later, when the thread was dead, I was banned with a message like "lol fuck off".

I am not joking, but the topic wasabout pedophiles. I said they should get psychological treatment. He was arguing for prison.

After his arrest, I was motivated for about 7 seconds to find that thread, but I had like 20,000 posts so I said fuck it.

I hope you don't mean offenders.

I mean there should be nuance.

Someone raping little kids? Lock them away and chop off the hanging bits.

Someone like Amirox? Why the fuck are we paying for his room and board? When he gets out of jail, he will be craving kids more than ever. That helps fucking no one. They need mental treatment and should be paying back society in a productive way. Put him to work planting trees.

I just can’t believe the level of corruption.

The fact that they waited like 3 days to do it, when they knew no one would notice, is just insane. They know damn well how shady this was.
I think we'll able to look back at this month and see it as when ResetERA.com's active user count began to noticeably trend downward.

I can provide a burner e-mail if necessary.  :)

It really is like 1917, with a nazi sympathizer helping out the leader of the revolution. :ussrcry

The sales pedophiles are fuming that next Dragon Quest is being developed for next gen and might skipping their precious nintenyearold console
 :six:

XI released on 3DS as well as PS4 and PC, I would not be surprised if XII was like Switch/PS5/PC. The days of DQ going to the best selling console is over, Horii has said he wants the series to be released on as many platforms as possible going forward.
