You're treading some interesting ground. Assuming the worst of your colleagues here, I could be wrong: Presenting it during sex week is immediately going to strengthen the connotation that every single furry has a kink in fursuits or vore or whatever else unless you are willing to put a bunch of asterisks on the presentation, at which point you will start inherently undermining the premise.

I'm that kind of furry that likes to present the subculture in a benign context, but I also wouldn't stop someone denying the LGBT aspects of the fandom since the openness and acceptance is inherently part of the deal. My best advice to you would be to choose a very specific premise regarding LGBT expression within furry and go from there. The more broad you get, the more you risk leveling stereotypes, even unintentionally.

This doesn't make any sense to me.  What "LGBT" aspects of the fandom?  It's a fursuit.  It's dressing up like a stuffed animal.  What does this have to do with being gay?  I thought these people always try to slink away from the claim that it's a sex thing.

There is a huge gay/bi base in furry fandom.

It's the release schedule. Going to be like a year for all the episodes when it's all said and done. I bought the season pass right away since the first one was amazing IMO but I can see people looking at the release schedule and deciding to wait for all episodes.

But I guess going with the ACAB excuse is easier for ERA.

Okay, then it's just weird that it's kosher to celebrate the lgbt furries and say they're the non-creepy, non-kink participants of the community and then shy away from the hetero pervert furries.  There's always this pushback and deep insecurity around admitting their 'fandom' is actually a fetish.

TBH: Both sides (gay/breeders) are fucking weirdo perverts in that fandom, in my experience with folks that are into that shit.

And as much as they "#NotAllFurries" the sexualization: It is a fucking huge aspect of the fandom. I can't speak for them, but I feel it's partially them wanting to be seen as a "legitimate" community, but at the same time trying to be "kid friendly" since they're just people that wear these big fursuits that could be taken as a Mascot thing. So having the sexualizied "stink" on them doesn't help them be friendly to "normal" society.

Note: This staff message has been posted in both the PoliEra and Socialism OTs, but they will be enforced across the site.

Fighting between communities has been getting worse lately, and that ends now. It's ruined too many threads at this point and it's been a constant breach of the terms of service. It's unfair to everyone else who uses this site that a small minority has been turning large swaths of EtcetEra toxic. Many users have complained about this to us and we believe they are right to do so.

In that past we've relied on ordinary bans with gradual escalation, in the hopes that this would be enough to ensure that everyone can coexist. It hasn’t been enough. Users have instead resorted to trolling in subtler ways, hoping that the staff won't notice or mind. To deter this, we will now be issuing much longer bans and rapidly escalate them as hard as necessary.

There have been a handful of recurring offenders on both sides in this – you know who you are. The following goes for everyone but especially for you: The pejoratives, nicknames, turns of phrase and other creative aggressions will no longer be tolerated. Attempts to provoke one another, to gatekeep, to deliberately keep the fighting going, will no longer be tolerated. Going back to your respective OTs to whine and complain about each other will no longer be tolerated.

It all stops now. Do not complain that you were not warned.

The racist bots had more personality than most of the cast. The scene with John Leguizamo [sp?] seeing the one Transformers' balls is more well written than...most of the movie.

Moving forward does not have to mean "straight into a tree and taking the franchise with it".

In the interests of consistency, mods have decided to take the side of the insane communities and will be banning the fuck out of anyone who points out the insanity of the prominent members and hypocritical mods. I think you misunderstand. Sometimes, and this is especially true with the late night threads, we point out stuff that is more of a curiosity than anything else. Like "wow, look at that shit."

In his defense I did use the insane emoji but only cause I don’t see it used often.  Though I agree with Vom that it seems more performative than actually serious.  For example, I wouldn’t link to the almost daily LexingtonKruger posts because that dude seems legitimately hurting and I just feel bad for him.

 :aweshum :sabu :neogaf :point :woooo

This is what happens when you let posters define opposition to their views as facism, nazism, the worst, most evil thing ever. It bleeds into everything.
I find it HIGH-larious that a message like that will only enflame that 'handful of recurring offenders' because they don't do self-awareness or ratcheting down very well at all.

on a forum wouldn't it be a bigger conspiracy if someone getting banned was an outside job

As with all depression threads on resetera, my question remains. How can 1 video game forum produce /attract so many broken people?

Do it.

But do your fucking research.

Talk to people who have been doing the research on this for years. I'd recommend contacting @dogpatchpress on twitter, they're a good collator of furry subculture history, and can send you to the right people to talk to for your research, and may even be able to provide content themselves for your talk.

Does the fact that Winnie the Pooh's fur is yellow mean that the Xi Jinping meme is racist.

The funniest furry happening is still when someone tried to gas them at one of their conventions. Fucking chlorine gas :lol
