I got my Series X yesterday only to find the situation there is somehow EVEN WORSE. No USB DAC support whatsoever. My only option to use my good headphones is to go through the headphone port on the controller, using an XLR to 3.5mm adapter, and the quality is a noticeable step down. The DAC in those controllers is cheap and tinny. It barely has enough power for my 300 ohm headphones, I have to completely max the volume for anything even remotely acceptable.

Neither consoles have optical out ports.

How is this acceptable?

Why are we forced to buy garbage chinese plastic gamer headset crap to have a seamless headphone audio experience on €500 consoles in 2021?
