Here's the key: Some shit is serious and I am serious when I talk about it because it requires the ability to be serious.

Now the news can write about the bipartisan consensus
Manchin can suck my dickNow the news can write about the bipartisan consensus and the fucktard from Montana doesn't even have to show up
Damn what happened to Manchin voting with us when we need him? All those lectures about how it was dumb to criticize him for the garbage he spouts all the time because he's there when it counts? I know he wasn't the deciding vote but there really should not have been any Dem yes votes on this. Republicans will absolutely try to use that to their advantage for November.

how do you figure? we're going to have a hard-leaning conservative justice system through local and federal courts, who will potentially reverse course on many landmark cases like Roe v Wade and the ACA case. There's nothing the legislative branch can do considering how gridlocked it has become.
Court cases are rarely overturned and judges are not legislators with political agendas (although I think Kavanaugh isn't impartial). The most significant decisions, politically, still hinge on technical details and good faith interpretations of the law. Think Justice Robert's majority decision on the ACA.
even voting this november seems meaningless (don't worry, I still will vote).
I am saying I have more... guarded optimism in my hope for the ideal outcome that everything that makes BrandNew upset and angry comes to pass. To be clear, optimism because those things should happen, because they are good things that literate people with a functional moral compass should want, not just because they trigger him, though that can be regarded as an incidental bonus, I suppose.
Replace the supreme court with a revolutionary tribunal imo. I've got some bore posters I'm ready to denounce.
I have trouble understanding this perspective but I would probably be as depressed as you are if the most significant forces in this country were undemocratically elected lifetime magistrates. Court cases are rarely overturned and judges are not legislators with political agendas (although I think Kavanaugh isn't impartial). The most significant decisions, politically, still hinge on technical details and good faith interpretations of the law. Think Justice Robert's majority decision on the ACA.Roe v. Wade is settled. What's up to interpretation is how far states can go to make an abortion difficult or long it remains a legal option for the mother, but abortion will never be illegal in this country, ever, and even if it is it won't be because of some guy whose best friend was named Squee in highschool. It'll be because of some kind of second great awakening and widespread abandonment of modern, liberal human rights, at which point you have more problems than the courts.
really fucking depressed over this shiteven voting this november seems meaningless (don't worry, I still will vote). Even if the Dems take back the House and Senate, we still have a conservative court that will fuck up this country for decades, potentially for ever. I hate this country
jaydubya doesn't care about abortions cause it'll never affect him. his own wife won't even fuck him so it'll never be a concern

embryos aren't objectively humans
I swear to god filler coordinates it so that as soon as one doofus leaves another shows up

It would be *ideal.*

Legislative branch and executive branch are more important than the courts in the overall scheme of things.

Thank you, you have now adequately confirmed that you are or have become a wretched person not worth talking to, devoid of merit or character, regardless of whatever odious views you hold. You are a barbarian, and there is no point in talking to a barbarian.

That's true, I've been smart enough to leave ideologies at the door and just pick the winning side.
Quote from: Shostakovich on October 05, 2018, 05:20:35 PMLegislative branch and executive branch are more important than the courts in the overall scheme of things.TBH, I feel like the supreme court shouldn't wield this much power. When both sides are trying to push their own agenda trojan horses into the mix, something is very, very wrong. The fact that Republicans think,"we can use Kavanaugh to turn around Roe v Wade" or whatever and the fact that Democrats fear that would happen is ridiculous. This calls for an endless game of replacing justices every few decades at the perils of generations that potentially don't even agree with them politically. Most American's support abortion in some form, for instance. Yet we have justices that are clearly anti-abortion that represent religions that want to make it illegal. The court wields too much power, is used overwhelmingly for partisan interests rather than those of the American people.
which is a reformulation of the old buddhist saying that it doesn't matter what shape a pot is as long as the water boils
