He's going to finish out his contract even if we end up not qualifying for the CL these next couple years breh. I do feel sort of bad for him though, people have been harassing him face to face and even if he isn't getting the most out of the club that a manager could he's still a legend. disgraceful.
he def. needs to splash the cash on a CB and DM soon. Preferably one with the atmosphere of a leader. Getting pathetic watching Flamini do his le petit dictateur act :ufup

Didn't know spielverlagerung has a separate page for their english texts now, wanted to post this http://spielverlagerung.com/2014/11/21/the-problem-with-english-football/ article for a while. Their writing is not the best, but they write very deep tactical analyses. Obsessed in a positive way. 11tegen11 is also great, liking his expG over 90 minutes charts.

I noticed some of that. What's the deal with Big Sam and his thing for Nolan and Carroll? Feels like whenever i see them in the mix your midfield play doesn't look nearly as quality as it did earlier on.
Yeah, seems a bit of an odd, super dated target man type focus. And it's frankly a little bizarre considering how well you guys were working before, you had options and some good linkups in the final third.
you guys could use a sort of all arounder in your midfield. something like an oxlade-chamberlain (but with an actual end product :snoop )

What a beautiful man Coutinho is.
a strange one isn't he
shows a couple flashes of world-classiness a few times here, vanishes into the pitch other times. i don't ever really think he'll be good enough to get plucked away from liverpool, but probably a good solid squadman for years to come.

Yep, even kicking off the weekend kinda tight with Schalke and other Borussia too.
I caught a little bit of Ajax and PSV yesterday btw. Man like Aron Johansson won it :rejoice it america

Few footballers since Diego Maradona have had the fusion of bronca and brilliance that can make for a one-man team: Steven Gerrard occasionally, Cristiano Ronaldo maybe, Rivaldo certainly. At times around the turn of the century he was impossible to play against, and never more so than here. The quality of the goals was outstanding, but the context made his performance legendary.

Like I said...I'm no pro level soccer fan....I saw Ronaldo break the USA's hearts with a 65' cross pass that curved damn near 90° and hit his dude in stride.
:ohhh
I saw Zidane headbutt the shit out some dude....I loved that shit
:lawd
In my limited sample size of two world cups and a couple of YouTube videos I have realized;
1) I really fucking like futbol
2) Ronaldo passes the eye test. I dig that on pitch "I'm the best dude out here" swagger he has.
i will be absolutely thrilled if we get top 4. i don't have anymore confidence in LVG to get this right.
nobody can shine because of LVGs baffling lineups & substitutions. minimal effort until we go behind. just one crap performance after another that isn't worth waking up early on the weekends to watch.
Esch, does the world greatest dipshit, Randy Lerner Jr, still own Aston Villa?
I believe so lol
as for PL vs. La Liga, tbh the PL is a lot easier to follow for you just because it's all in english. the fuckery, cultural stuff and journalism is all easy to follow. It might be true that La liga teams seem to have had a lot of success in the big european competitions but hey. And every single game gets play on NBSCN, especially if you have AT&T, they'll play it on the alternate channels.
Being a la liga fan is pretty bleak unless you're a fan of Barcelona, Madrid, or Atletico Madrid honestly. Sevilla or Villareal might be lined up for europa league glory from time to time or win the league but that feels like about it. Also you need BeIn sports to follow it in the US.
Whatever you do, don't watch Serie A. I suffer so y'all don't have to.

I think it's a balance.
obviously we've seen really amazing punching above their weight from Atletico and Dortmund in the last few years. On some level it does prove that yes, organization and tactics and players groomed for a real system can trump mass financial / 'talent' disparities. On the other hand look at who actually went home with those CL trophies. But yeah if you don't have the cash you should really just triple down on youth development. Its something I think Serie A squads really need to start prioritizing.

So thinking about purchasing football manager for my droid tablet.
Can you guys answer two things;
Is it any good?
How does transfer seasons and selling players work? Seems complicated to an outsider.
Big Sam talked so much shit recently and let WBA put 4 up on him :dead

Lots to learn.
A little bit on the Internazionale academy, for my dude wrath :aah

Double edged sword right there. We always develop great young players or at least find them, but when they are about to reach their peak they go on to some of the more prestigious or richer clubs.
Watched that Bayern (SP?) game last night. Playing with 10 dudes = bad I learned today.
I kinda like that though. Fuck off and get 2 yellows? Bounce. Get a red? Bounce. Have an injury and already used your 3 subs? You fucked.
<<<<<<Is starting to learn.
It makes for the best fuckery but on one hand it makes matches low key easy as fuck to fix. Like the Liga MX (mexico) final this year basically had paid refs hand out reds for some minor shit. Occasionally though it'll all snowball and end in a giant fuck pile of ejections, yellows and reds. Great post game shit talking.
Wait till you see your first goalkeeper red card. That is some funny funny shit after the fact.
The obvious fact that Qatar shouldn't host to begin with aside, why move it to winter? More "bearable" weather? Fuck that shit. WC has been hosted at hot places before, never was an issue until recent years. Tournaments are played during the hottest days of summer all the time are, so why not keep it in the summer.
Again, what a bunch of pussies.

We've been really flabby lately, defensively and offensively. Barely getting wins with mid-low table teams and now we tied with those Feyenoord cunts. RIP Tottis last hope for silverware.
Yeah, what's been going on there? Thought you guys might have a chance to get at juve when the season started.
What's everybody think of Van Persie? Is he the savior I keep hearing he is?
Go ahead and read that book i recommended you, A_I_A (inverting the pyramid). You'll learn a lot about how the game changed in all the major ways throughout the years. it's not 100% holistic, but it will help to start paint a picture of how things were.

2) They aren't the best team in the division and will have to work to stay on the top four of the table.
:rejoice
Damn, there isn't even really a single good match today :yeshrug .
Soton vs. Liverpool the only quality entertainment this weekend. I'll keep a tab on City and Newcastle later just in case of a meltdown, suppose.
:heh i'll DVR you and spurs but they're on a real hot streak and you're out in the snow right now (6AM watch over here)
as for us and Palace, I don't see much coming out of that. unless we completely implode that's a pretty set 2-1 win for me. I suppose there's always the chance that United get pooped on by Swans again but I doubt it.
edit: having said that, i'm sure Gayle is going to burn Chambers over and over again today :snoop

We won but I'm fairly certain we looked rather ordinary.By any normal standards, we played bad. And fairly conservatively. Usually we like to flood our midfield and push everyone up near the opponent's penalty box but I'm guessing Wenger wanted to spare some energy for our CL game against Monaco this week.
Either way a win's a win and now we're firmly in 3rd place since United fucked up, so (http://i.imgur.com/TxRcqGw.png)
Edit; until Southampton put us in smelly 4th
No doubt. Also I don't know if it's just me but I've seen a lot of 'unintentional' handballs come from defenders using their body while turning to clear a shot /pass.

Joey Barton is a moron. there are some teams you feel bad about being in the relegation zone like Burnley cause they try hard but I'll be damned if QPR aren't full of bone heads.

just saying. Dude had an assist and a goal, yet given what he was presented with he still put out like a 5-6/10 performance. He makes Giroud look like Aguero. Hopefully toffees transfer him to FC Chlamydia Krakow.
This year's FIFA is one of the worst sports games I've played. It's fundamentally broken with zero balance. If you hit a finesse shot from a certain angle and with certain power , it will always go in, regardless of the goalkeeper. Terrible game.
Liverpool is getting outplayed. Don't see how they'll be able to hold on to this lead.
Yeah it's a little weird now that I think about it. We typically say is instead of are when we talk about the team's location. It doesn't make much sense in football since there are no real mascot names for the teams like there are in american sports.Liverpool is getting outplayed. Don't see how they'll be able to hold on to this lead.
weird how you say is instead of are, is that an american thing?

Can Esch or somebody give me a 10,000 ft view of the MLS.....like who are the best team and what is the format utilized to determine the champion? Thanks.
Best teams are going to be Seattle, LA Galaxy, Revs, DC United, and maybe NYC FC. I think Toronto might be good too since they have some actual stars on that team. They determine the champion American style, best teams go into the playoffs and they play two games one home and one away and the winner is who has the best aggregate score.
MLS style is obviously a lower level then all the European teams, and they can attack decently but they are all shitty at defending. I just watch for my local team and to see budding US national team stars and hope they get sold to Europe :yeshrug.
Got FIFA14 (I heard 15 is trash) on my xboner for free with that EA access shit. Scored a goal in my first game in my career, then proceeded to get called off sides about 15 times in a game. Score a goal and have an assist at get a 6.0 form rating brehs...

The 'problem' with MLS fan culture is the same problem with what's affecting the atmosphere at the Emirates and Stamford bridge though; educated, affluent, cultured fanbases make for shit atmosphere and fan drama.
And now you're starting to get it. Football's problem here in the states is that to a lot of people over the age of 15 it's still a hoity toity librul euro snob game that's unamurrican. It's the sport of choice for people who read Salon.com articles and eat at 5 star restaurants on Yelp and work in app development (see: Seattle Sounders fanbase). The unwashed, dumbshit prole of America simply hasn't embraced the game yet. Probably explains why Liga MX is still a better league at the moment.
Anyway, I feel pretty good about Monaco today. Now watch Berbatov drop a brace on us at home, fuck.
I just don't see Neverkusen putting up much of a fight against Best Madrid. Maybe they'll get an opportunity for Free Kick Hakan to do his thing.
why isnt there an wenger emoticon, wed use it so often
Yea, like I said earlier, not surprised. This same thing happens pretty much every time Arsenal play Chelsea, just in more humiliating fashion and frequently.
The Premier League is fun to watch but :heh no team has any chance in europe. Spurs and Liverpool probably going to fall out of Europa too. Only team that has a chance is Chelsea, if they park the bus and get lucky.
There's a reason I call Giroud the king of donkeys. Dude can't produce or make runs. Occasionally he'll make a header or donkey one in clumsily but he's just not very good beside that. The one thing that he does excel at is size and being a little more physical, I think we can all agree arsenal are tiny and technical and he adds a little diversity there.
he's above average, that's it.
Say A_I_A, when I was saying you shouldn't be an Arsenal fan, this is exactly why.

All joking aside lads, van gaal is 2 points away of being second after all the flak hes been getting.
ugggggggggggh football.
Ipswich were on a run of 1 defeat out of 20 games and were knocking on the door of promotion in a top 2 finish at the end of 2014.
Now? ugh.
we've won 4 out of 13 in 2015 and have lost 7. We've dropped out of the play offs and now it looks like we can't buy a win.
Given next season sees the start of -stupid- parachute payments this really is the last big chance to get out of this division - still time to recover but we look shot.
Carlisle have managed to dig their way out of relegation at least - albeit by 3 points and still have an awful goal difference.

BTW, got to spend more time with PES this weekend:
For a breh who likes tactics, PES let you have 3 different tactics in a game with each tactic having a defensive, attacking and neutral side. I was :whew when I was able to defend deep 442 and explode in a 433 to counter just like that. I could even choose between the 3 different tactics dynamically in game without pausing. And the game is fluid and really feels natural. I was having fun just defending while the AI was passing around my team-block trying to break my lines

it's the yank mentality that i can't process. was watching the denmark game and there's this unerring belief that america being a jobber footballing nation is some great act of injustice that will inevitably be put right.
It's because we know we haven't given football our all, or really even more than a few cursory glances in the long scheme of things. you guys are disillusioned because it rules your nation and yet you can't pull home glory.
We're a bunch of ragtag mercenaries cobbled together from dual national castaways that couldn't cut it in various nations, the descendents of immigrants with weird names, and 18 year old academy boys that don't really know what they want out of their careers. The shitty cut and paste nature of the USMNT is kind of like a metaphor for america itself; a weird semi garbage mix that we hope punches for the heavens.

Serious question, if this is true why does Germany seem to pound the shit out of Italy and Greece every time they play competitions?
:dead
Okay okay okay but I'm not seeing how Greece beat England more than the other way around. Pretty bland team right now, they'd park the bus and maybe eke out a 1-1 or 1-0 here and there.
Russia is a better shout but I don't really expect them to consistently beat England either. Switzerland sure, maybe even over a long series.
But I guess we'll have to see when they play Italy soon, who I think are pretty flabby themselves. Starting El Shaarawy :flabbypd

You guys just straight up need an offense.
I'm middling on SKC right now because we put up a real real great show against the Timbers but I want to win, not put on 0-0 clinic. Problem is still the same as before. Need one high profile attacker, and for Zusi to come off DP money.
The arsenal 15/16 looks great imo:

love those collars. still hate puma tho.
Youre greek?
I'm not sure if I should be shouting HIDDINK OUT or lamenting the fact that, following Robben's retirement, we're gonna be in for some bad times. Probably both.

and here we go
We should sell him to United and then snatch up Depay if we're going to sell him to another English club, but selling to Man U is never going to happen.120k a week? fuck that shit lol.https://twitter.com/JZarif/status/583672737194999808

Hoping Liverpool have similar diplomatic success with Raheem Sterling.
He'll end up at citeh anyway.

Slump definitely busted but it *is* a defeated relegation ready Granada. It's a bit like coming off a dry streak by fucking a girl that's really into opiates or is a couple pounds overweight.
I am surprised he scored from distance though. Haven't seen him do that in a while :obama

The more I watch him, the more I understand Vincent Tans insanity.
When that is all said though, the rest of the team sure aren't doing much better and he's getting nothing to work with. Only Ludwig and Amartey are really showing quality, and if I hear that "but the whole team is so young" bullshit one more time, I'm going to throw up.
Ronaldo hit 300 goals w/ RM today. 288 games man.
By comparison it took Raul 741 and Di Stefano 396.
We can potentially kick City while they're down, but I foresee a tie for that one.
They know they're in for a clearout. How much they get for all these dudes is going to determine their next couple seasons. In all fairness, who wants to pay top dollar for a Jesus Navas given his terrible play all season? Or a Dzeko who has one of the worst chance conversion rates in the league? Or their entire fraudulent back line? For someone who was called the 'best CB in the Premier League' Kompany commits damn near a goal scoring error a game.
even for Arsenal, I wouldn't want my hands on any of these dudes except Silva, Aguero, or Milner. The rest have been massively underperforming and don't look like they give a shit. Look at Yaya out there, basically has terrible games and makes up for it with one goal scoring strike.
:kobeyuck
for the other top 4 teams, the recent City melt down is likely to backfire - for a start, Pella is gone gone gone.
And a few of the misfiring stars will likely get the boot as well. Once they have cash in, then i expect a whole load of big name signings - which, ironically, will possibly hurt United more than anything because if you are going to go live in Manchester , you might as well be getting paid utterly stupid money rather than the regular stupid money.
Anyways, onto real football :
Ipswich are giving me an ulcer. Back in the playoffs - and the top of the championship is an utter nightmare.
nathaniel clyne sounds like a lock.
kind of sad to see the breh chicharito go for real this time.. i was fond of him even though he was a 1 trick pony.
Klopp is leaving Dortmund.
Wow
Klopp is leaving Dortmund.
Wow
no carrick probably = no points today :goty2
If United could get Lewy for next season they will do really well

I highly doubt that'll happen.

Rvp and Falcao just wont cut it. I know Lewy doesnt want to leave Bayern though.
Ill admit not knowing who that is
Sounds like someone for Arsene

Falcao is definitely leaving (he's been subpar plus his buyout clause is ridiculous), and I personally hope we sell RVP. I still don't think Lewi is possible, I'd be happy with Lacazette however.
i worry that Lacazette is too light to be the man up top in the EPL.
if Cavani wasn't already 28 i'd be all for getting him.
there's a number of guys out there that'd definitely put us over the top though.
“On another day we would score three or four goals. We knew we had the players who could dominate. We are proud of the performance.”
-Wayne Rooney.
“In my opinion it was the best performance we have had this season. We were not effective because we have created, despite the defensive organisation of Chelsea, three chances in the first half and eight in the second half.”
-Louis van Gaal.
If we were warming up for the big game next weekend at the Emirates, we couldn't have had much better practice opposition than Manchester United today. The play was Arsenal in a nutshell, mistaking possession in the middle third for threat and then being surprised when mistakes in possession were seized upon and punished. We got a bad impression of the Gunners after the match as well, with both Rooney and Louis van Gaal jumping straight into the magical realm of Wengerland in order to pretend that a loss was actually a win.
we played really well, put them on the back foot and narrowly lost by a single goal" - every manager who's paved the way to chelsea's title.
Looks like Tuchel will be taking control of Dortmund. Should be a nice fit, he is Klopps protege or summat?
When I saw that Klopp was leaving I thought "favre" immediately, wonder where that one will end up.
ehhh
he's a pretty good manager but i don't really care overmuch to see the boys play a mostly defensive 4-4-2. I don't have anything against playing like that occasionally but he does it a loooot. ofc maybe he'd be different at Arsenal...
:yeshrug
nah, i dont really care if it's pep. all i care is if they play attacking football, can win, give youth chances, and are tactically flexible from game to game.
:yeshrug
Barca will still beat them IMO
Fuck this weekend mang. Gonna lose to Chelsea and there ain't that much gud besides Gladbach and Wolfsburg :fbm

I'm not a man of hate brehs. I don't really hate any footballer (not even Ashley Cole or van Persie tbh - I pity the latter, the type of coward who would've been a mild threat away from defecting in the 1940s), and only heavily dislike a few teams. Spurs with their annoying delusions, and United have been the bane of my existence since I learned how to walk, but Chelsea, Chelsea physically repulse me. An utterly disgusting club right down their odious spine. A billionaire owner who's probably killed hundreds to gain his wealth, a manager who gauges the eyes of other coaches then plays victim, a captain who needs no description, all supported by (statistically, empirically, objectively) the most racist fans in Britain. What a horrible, disgusting, repugnant, vile little club. Scum in the purest sense of the word.
And fuck the thundercunts who swallow Mourinho's balls after every dickhead quote. I hope you never know the respect of your sons.

:whoo MSN gonna win everything.
A Real Madrid fan in class said he hates van Gaal cause he is arogant
A Madrid fan
Has he ever tried Wilshere out wide? Dude obviously has the dribbling skills and pace, maybe he'd fare better there.
He's played him as a winger, and in a more advanced position. I don't think he's that great in either. I see his best position as a sort of regista like Alonso is doing now.
hate this sport.
hate rvp and di maria.
hate this pussy ass sideways passing.
hate that folks barely ever try and beat a man or dribble through the midfield.
pretty much expecting Ls to Palace and Arsenal at this point. Hull on the last day might fuck us too.
Uuh lol you guys dont know shit
Rvp is usually crap yeah but this was a good game despite the penalty, he had good on target shots etc
Man U played amazing btw
:snoop Sporting
Getting married killed Dwyers drive. Just need a new midfield, throw these DPs in the trash. Zusi doesn't deserve his spot on the team or on the USMNT.
You know you're shite when you can't dominate Chicago :holeup
Neuer really letting himself get beat near post :hitler
Boateng :umad
Fuuuck we are so shit today.
It's time for the Aaron Ramsey winger experiment to end.

i thought this been known? or did they just finally confirm it.
Back in October, Abby Wambach and a group of international soccer players filed a suit against FIFA and the Canadian Soccer Association claiming gender discrimination in their decision to play the 2015 Women's World Cup on artificial turf.
"It's a gender issue through and through," Wambach said, noting that the men's World Cup would never be played on artificial turf.
In a recent interview with ESPN's Julie Foudy, Wambach stated, "There is no footballer on the planet that would prefer to play on artificial turf than natural grass."
Other than the greater perceived risk of injury, the game changes when played on an artificial surface. The ball moves quicker, long balls are more apt to roll out of bounds and the flow of the game is often interrupted.
Wambach also noted that the game is less physical as players are hesitant to slide on artificial turf.
How much of this supposed change in the game is perception and how much is reality?
...
Teams that play a more direct, attacking style of play, like the United States and Canada, will be hurt most by the turf fields.
Japan, on the other hand, is known for its technical, possession style of play. In the 2011 World Cup, the Japanese had the highest possession percentage (57.2 percent) and most passes per game (647.5) of any team. Because many of their passes are short, they should conceivably be helped by the change in playing surfaces.
The MLS data also showed that there are more chances created and slightly more goals per game on grass surfaces than on turf. That could lead to a more defensive, less exciting product on the field in Canada.

Just announced they are being charged for Racketeering under the RICO act. Also, evidence has been found that the 2016 Copa America had $110 Million worth of bribes and the 2010 World Cup voting process was particularly influenced by bribes. Tons of dirty money between CONCACAF and CONMEBOL including bribes from executives of a "Major American Sportswear company"
This is pretty tasty :whew

Sky Sources: Swiss nationals working for Fifa including Sepp Blatter told by investigators they can't leave Switzerland until further notice
http://www.tsn.ca/uefa-calls-for-fifa-elections-postponement-may-boycott-1.293027Platini and Blatter are going to come out of this just fine. There'll be an endless gang of people to fall under the bus before either (http://i.imgur.com/vzOriTo.png)
UEFA is now calling for a postponement of the presidential election and holding an emergency meeting tomorrow. They may boycott the election if it goes ahead.
Wonder how far Platini will go to save his own skin when people start asking about how things like Euro 2012 happened
what's the international reaction to the fact that its America's criminal enforcement going after FIFA?
I mean, the dirty shit aint exactly new, anybody could have pulled the trigger on this before, right? Is this an unwanted or welcomed action by the USA or is it something else?
WWC in 8 days
Anyone gonna watch?
I read something about the Dutch thinking of leaving the fifa with a few others (and thus the world cup) and starting something new
Hopefully we crush them in the 2nd.
What a time friends
If you're gonna boycott a world cup, probably makes sense to boycott the one where probably somewhere in the five figures of people will have died to build stadiums and infrastructure, so might as well wait until 2022.

Not to dismiss the human rights abuses involved in the Qatar World Cup, but you're off by a magnitude of ten. About two thousand migrant workers have died so far with double that projected by 2022.
And Russia isn't exactly a shining beacon of moral righteousness these days. There have been over 6,000 deaths in the Ukrainian conflict so far.

As harsh as I can be on him, that season was legit and he was our best player. It just makes this past season's performance that much more tragic. :'(

LFC cycle complete.
ZURICH — Swiss authorities began a new series of pre-dawn arrests Thursday in the broad investigation, led by United States officials, into corruption in international soccer. Sixteen people were expected to be charged by day’s end, law enforcement officials said, nearly doubling the size of an already huge case that has upended FIFA, soccer’s multibillion-dollar governing body.
Some of the arrests took place at the same luxury hotel where other FIFA officials were arrested in May. Swiss police entered the hotel, the Baur au Lac, through a side door at 6 a.m. local time. A hotel manager told visitors in the lobby they had to leave the property because of “an extreme situation.”
The police were targeting current and former senior soccer officials on charges that include racketeering, money laundering and fraud, authorities said. The new charges were expected to hit South and Central American soccer leaders particularly hard, the officials said.
Everyone in the world must be rooting for Leicester now, except Spurs fans.
No, Moyes also didn't hack it in Spain, United needs someone that can carry the burden like LvG.

I think Chelsea still might stumble. Arsenal will win the league.spoiler (click to show/hide):doge[close]
And sorry but it's really hard to care about the MLS since it seems its where players go to die and its so far away.

FA cup 90-91 :lol
Verge of collapse is winning more then you did in the past 60 years within the last 5?
Maybe one day you will be on such a verge too.
You've had 2-3 okay years where you punched above your weight but still nothing to show for, and soon when everyone leaves you will be back to where you belong, in the gutter.
No one claimed that ever, Aubameyang though...
I'll have you know we won the League cup in 2008.you sound like a liverfool, reflect upon that
The trophy talk is so boring and narrow sighted, also screams of insecurity from you gooners.
We're a club on the up while you lot are clearly on the verge of collapse.
Besides you had a period of like 10 years without winning anything when you were meant to be 'good'.
We've had 2-3 years of being good, it'll come.
