As an unbearable stan of anything I happen to even mildly enjoy, I signed up for AMC™ Stubs© A-List® today. I was already paying $12/year for AMC® Stubs© Premium™, but I guess this supercedes it.
This is AMC's "official" version of MoviePass. You pay $20/month to get 3 movies/week, so basically $20 for 12 movies if you maximize your usage. Is it as good a deal as MoviePass? No, but I always viewed MoviePass as the Grooveshark of the movie ticket world. Like, you're debatably legal, but no one in the industry likes you and your time is clearly limited so what's the point?
And even though AMC owns like 97% of US theaters I still feel some kind emotion supporting theaters in general, where as it felt like MoviePass was designed to subvert that.
Will report back how it is. Not having to use a janky extra credit card and being able to order online days ahead of time is a great start. I've got Incredibles 2, then Jurassic World 2, then maybe Solo this week. I only have until Friday to see three movies! (After seeing two movies in a single month, A-List has paid for itself. It also worked on IMAX and 3D shows, which MoviePass doesn't IRC.)
