Dear lord. I'm not sure I'll ever have the patience for a film like that.
Watch it in pieces if you must.  It's a great movie.

Vertigo is easily a movie where you can watch one half one session and the second half the next.

Do we have a consensus on Psycho 1998? I really like it. Not as much as the original movie but still pretty damn good. I want to read the book. My problem with the remake is that it probably stays TOO close to the original, even as far as biting Hitchcock's camera work and editing.

I saw Dark City Director's Cut yesterday. Really liked it. Rufus Sewell should be a bigger name.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/film/3786936/Indy-5-going-back-to-its-roots
Quote
Harrison Ford's final outing as Indiana Jones will be "emotional and exciting" as the franchise heads back to its roots after a badly received fourth instalment.

Ford is well-known for his portrayal of the archaeologist and adventurer, and has agreed to reprise the role one last time.

Indiana Jones 5 will begin shooting next year, and much of the plot line will be centred around the Bermuda Triangle, an area over the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of aircraft are said to have disappeared.

"George (Lucas) and Steven (Spielberg) have been working on a script and it's almost there," a source explained.

"Harrison is on stand-by for filming next year. This looks like being an emotional and exciting conclusion to the franchise, with Indy facing his biggest challenge yet."

The last film in the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was released in 2008 and performed well at the box office, but was savaged by critics.

Shia LaBeouf played Indiana's son Mutt Williams, and he will also appear in the new instalment.

Movie bosses have assured fans the film will stay true to the series' roots, and won't contain lots of state-of-the-art special effects.

"Shia LaBeouf has a central role again as Indy's son but this will be a blockbuster made in the old fashioned way rather than the CGI efforts of the last movie," the source added.

While the trailer made it seem as though Greenberg was just a neurotic slacker going through a rough patch, the character is more or less completely alienating and unlikeable to everyone around him.  Some of his interactions manage to overthrow The Office UK in making its audience cringe.  I have a weird relationship with Baumbach because I appreciate the work he does but I often just feel depressed and empty after watching his movies.  Greenberg is well realized just like the father in The Squid in the Whale is well realized, but I'm not sure I want to spend an hour and a half in their company.  If you've liked Baumbachs previous work you'll like Greenberg, too.

He's introduced as having just had a nervous breakdown and spending some time in a mental hospital.  He does bring some of the worst elements of internet forum behavior in to real life social interaction though.  While the film never brands him with anything clinical, I could easily see him being diagnosed as an asspie.

As long as Lucas and Spielberg are behind the creative process, Indiana Jones will be shit. I initially blamed Skull on Lucas, but clearly Spielberg went along with it so he's just as culpable.

Such a great movie

I remember when I saw The Matrix and remember thinking "Hey I saw this movie last year and it was called Dark City."

Watched Burton's Alice in Wonderland. I loved the look of Wonderland when she first gets there. Even more impressive than Avatard. But then it goes completely downhill and is forgettable. Crispin Glover is wasted and Christopher Lee gets one line. The tone reminded me of an attempt to make a modern Labyrinth, but failing.

A Hollywood movie about rugby and South African politics?  Seriously? Who was this movie for?
There were a lot of older people in the audience.  I thought it was an all right movie though.

I saw Dark City a long time ago and remember being in love with it, then Patel bought it for me like 3 years ago for my birthday when it first came out on Blu Ray.  Then I was like "holy shit.  it's like a non shitty Matrix!"

And I agree about Alice in Wonderland.  It's like they blew their budget on the introduction of Wonderland because after that the world just seems empty.  And my god, the entire third act is just pointless.

That's how I felt after watching it.  It didn't really feel like it fleshed out anything enough for it to be interesting.  It didn't get into Mandela's legacy enough to be entertaining and about him.  There wasn't enough emphasis on the actual rugby games to make me give a shit if they won or not and fuck, we all already know the story there is no suspense really.  It seemed like a by the books, non offensive movie.

It was just so focused. I didn't think it was very accessible to people unfamiliar with rugby or Mandela.  (me and most of America)
It implied you already knew about Mandela's past and the basics of rugby.  It also felt like there was no climax.  Even when

Ah.  I didn't think of that.  Definitely makes sense now that you put it that way though.

I just remembered what I told my wife as soon as I left.  For some reason it felt like I was watching Cool Runnings.  Movie about sport that Americans know nothing about, small non offensive racial undertones and feel good ending.

Both me and my girlfriend really liked it, though neither of us knows anything about rugby. Hardly anybody in the audience when we saw it, but then again it was FREEZING out that night and the heat was broken in that particular theater.

I saw Tekkonkinkreet last night. Wasn't bad, loved the look of the backgrounds even though character design was very uggo.

Young Indy IS out on DVD. All three seasons. They retail for about $150 each, but you can get all three for that on Amazon. The extras they put on them are INSANE.

And they won't kill him due to Young Indy. Young Indy is 100% canon and even referenced in the last movie.

True Romance

I liked it, but I didn't love it.

It seemed like all the best actors and characters have a very short screen time, and everything goes by way too fast. It was pretty obvious that Tarantino wrote it, and if he directed it like he wanted I'm sure it would have been slower and better considering all the writing in the movie. Tony Scott decided to blaze through the script I guess. I still enjoyed it, the action was good and really violent. The comedic moments were meh but thats mostly due to execution. Overall I really liked it and thought it was good, but it isn't as great as a lot of people say it is.

8/10

Gary Oldman absolutely kills it in this. You have to mention that, always!
