Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” Commences Principal Photography In Preparation for April 4, 2014 Film Release

BURBANK, Calif. (April 8, 2013) – Following in the footsteps of the record-breaking Marvel Studios’ release, “Marvel’s The Avengers,” production on the highly anticipated release, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” has commenced in Los Angeles, Calif., with production also including locations in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington D.C. Directing the film is the team of Anthony and Joe Russo (“Welcome to Collinwood”) from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) & Stephen McFeely (“Captain America: The First Avenger”). Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” returns Chris Evans (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”) as the iconic Super Hero character Steve Rogers/Captain America, along with Scarlett Johansson (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Iron Man 2”) as Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Iron Man 2”) as Nick Fury. In addition, film icon Robert Redford has joined the all-star cast as Agent Alexander Pierce, a senior leader within the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release in the U.S. on April 4, 2014.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” features an outstanding supporting cast that includes Sebastian Stan (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Black Swan”) as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie (“The Hurt Locker,” “Million Dollar Baby”) as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Cobie Smulders (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “How I Met Your Mother”) as Agent Maria Hill, Frank Grillo (“Zero Dark Thirty”) as Brock Rumlow and Georges St-Pierre (“Death Warrior”) as Georges Batroc. Rounding out the talented cast are Hayley Atwell (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Peggy Carter, Toby Jones (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “The Hunger Games”) as Arnim Zola, Emily VanCamp (“The Ring 2,” “Revenge”) as Agent 13 and Maximiliano Hernández (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Thor”) as Agent Jasper Sitwell.

So Cap 2 will have these characters:

Cap
Black Widow
Nick Fury
Winter Soldier
Falcon
Maria Hill
CROSSBONES
BATROC THE MOTHERFUCKING LEAPER

Importantly, Batroc is being played by a French Canadian, so he should still have his accent.

As if they're going to let GSP speak on screen. :P

Man, I am actually hyped for another Cap'n America movie. I enjoyed the first one quite a bit more than I'd expected. Also happy they're bringing back the same writers. The way they handled the WW II period was appropriate to the comic book material, and I'm curious to see how they'll write that Captain into our modern day period. Hopefully it's not as dry as Millar's Ultimates.

The Bay

This is a movie with a message, and that message is "This movie fucking sucks." If you've seen the trailers, you've witnessed a lie. The trailers are cut in such a fashion that you'd think this is a suspenseful ecological horror film about people being infested with parasites which eat them from the inside, driving them crazy and turning them into killers. Lie. This happens exactly once in the film, and you can see it coming a mile away. What happens for the rest of the film is a whole lot of nothing. It's like Jaws, if the Chief Brody character didn't exist and Mayor Vaughn was a lead character. And the shark was a bunch of parasites that look like roly-polies. This movie scrapes the very bottom of the "found footage" horror movie bucket. Terrible acting, with a "lead" actress who narrates the movie like this:

"This is Tom. He's a fisherman. He died around 9:30."

and then five minutes later you see Tom die. She does this numerous times, destroying what little suspense the movie might have had. We started laughing around the third time she did this.

Barry Levinson directed this, apparently while in the midst of a stroke. There are shots in the film which are obviously the work of professional cameramen interspersed with "amateur" handheld footage, and the end result is pretty jarring. A lot of times, whenever there's about to be something really gruesome, the footage is conveniently "corrupted" or the death takes place off-camera, so it doesn't even have that going for it. They also layer a soundtrack over it, complete with stinger cues for shock moments. The "message" is so goddamned ham-fisted I thought my eyes were infested with some kind of rolling parasite. It's one of those movies where you know what caused everything ahead of time, so the whole movie is you watching people scramble around trying to figure out what you already knew. Stop trying to teach me a lesson, Hollywood. You are really, really fucking bad at it.

Just saw End of Watch. One of the best cop movies ever!

I saw this a couple weeks ago.  I liked it, but nowhere near enough to say it's one of the best cop movies ever.  Felt off in places.  Weird pacing with the time jumps.

I think Southland does the "handheld camera style following the daily adventures and mishaps of a few LAPD officers" better as a TV show.  You might want to check it out.  First couple seasons are a little uneven, but seasons 3 through 6 (so far) are gold.

Hopefully he's just auditioning for the role or something. Seems like a pretty odd decision to cast him, this isn't 1999 anymore lol. I'd imagine it won't be a film that makes a lot of money regardless, but having a more...relevant lead would obviously help.

Looks fabulous. Can't wait to see what that director can do with a Hollywood budget.

It also looks like more, good SF, in that it's commenting handily on current society more than speculating "IN THE FUTCHAR, RICH PEOPLE WILL BE IN SPACE."

in other words, deconstructing another adolescent fantasy
Well, I guess; or it's compelling adolescent fantasy, similar to the way Spider-Man is a great character because of his flaws, Batman is interesting for his flaws, and Superman is boring because he has none.

Goldeneye was also attempting something like this by way of 006.

Nope.

But I enjoyed your post powersalve.

Guys, I really need sex. I've been trying the anonymous sex forums, and met with a MASSIVE black female traffic warden at a Pizza Hut, the black bit I could prob. deal with with calm retrospection and expensive therapy, but the fat part was an instant turnoff.

I then met a girl who was into collecting bricks. She was also on the wrong side of plump.

Where do you find decent anon sex, but without the ugly people. I'm basically worried about beating off to too much porn, it's basically conditioning the mind in a seriously bad way. It's all mostly about abuse, which is seriously fucked up.

There are some delicious grapes on the table, maybe on a plate.

But I'm not allowed the delicious grapes. Instead I have to find some grapejuice to drink.

Grapejuice is actually disgusting. But I eventually found a carton in the fridge. It's just too sweet.

The Promised Land.

I like damon in just about everything he does, and this is no exception. Just the movie overall was kinda a dud. There were too many characters, so there wasn't enough interaction and development to be satisfying. The wasn't any real conclusions or consequences to the story.

Silver Linings Playbook

I know they tried to go deep with the mental illness issues and how it runs in the family, but I don't think it worked for me. Need to reflect on it more.
