Taken off amazon wishlist.

Either way, it's not like it's the core of the story and could easily just be edited out.

the not character stuff of guardians was pretty bland however the character stuff was excellent
i'd watch a tv show of guardians, but as a movie, eh.  It's kind of Marvel Flat in that Thor 2 way.  There's really no build up of the stakes and the villain design is that techno-goth Marvel stuff we've thus far seen in all of the "cosmic" elements of the Marvel films.

Haters got owner hard, GotG was hella fun and I will definitely go watch the sequel. It's basically what the Star War Prequel Trilogy should have been but wasn't because Lucas is a giant butt.

That wasn't recent. Didn't that come out in 2006? I think they hit a bump with Cars, but their quality went down with Up and it's been downspiraling since. Cars 2, Planes, Planes: Fire and Rescue, Brave, Monsters University were all mediocre or really bad. Only Toy Story 3 has been okay-ish in their time since Up.

Notice all of those sequels. What are they working on now? The Incredibles 2.

Pixar used to be must watch for me. Now they're lucky I even rent their movies at Redbox these days. :trash

Up had a great intro and little else.

It was a casuality of American cartoons always needing to be some fucking goddamn comedy.

A heart breaking story about a widower who comes to grips with he and his wife's unfulfilled dream turns into a story with talking dogs, comical super villains, asian boy scouts. Great premise; awful execution.

Up felt like a wannabe Ghibli film. The intro was on point and contained a lot of humanism and charm in its writing and animation. The Ghbli inspiration is off the charts. I certainly feel like they tried that with the rest of the film, but did so while implementing an American cartoon style, which doesn't really mesh with me.

Up is straight up emotionally manipulative porn. Those first 20 minutes feel like Pixar is just proving they can make you take an existential kick in the nuts and still sit there and swallow their sentimentally drenched load. Fuck that movie's cutesy characters, fuck it's invasive pathos, and fuck it's critical acclaim.

My favorite is Ratatouille.  Also really enjoy Toy Story 2.  Incredibles is really good but there's a kind of icky Randian Objectivist current running through the whole thing.

I thought TS1 was only OK, but I also dug TS2. Haven't seen 3.

Didn't pick up on that during my watch of Incredibles, I just really liked the idea, writing, and characters.

I really liked that they didn't try to cram a bunch of Earth stuff into GotG. I really hate that about pretty much every superhero movie that has space stuff, especially Green Lantern [which was excruciatingly awful regardless] and Thor. I want to see more of the cool space stuff, not boring buildings in some generic Earth city getting blasted by aliens.

I'm not as crazy about Guardians as a lot of people but that was a really fun movie. I'm genuinely impressed by the director's / script writer's ability to turn a movie about a of shit comic book vomit no one has ever heard about into a genuinely compelling and interesting two and half hours of film.

Avengers had more impressive action sequences with characters I recognize and like but GotG is more consistent movie with no real dull points.

Bug's Life is a pretty ordinary kid's version of Seven Samurai mashed with Three Amigos.  It's far from Pixar's best, but I don't think it's that bad at all.

Yeah, I was a dumb kid that thought "HOW COULD A MOVIE ABOUT INSECTS BE GOOD?" yet happily watched a film about talking toys, lol.

Seven Samurai + Three Amigos sounds incredible though. I need to totally watch it with the family.

Guardians of the Galaxy is the best Marvel movie since the original Iron Man, in my eyes.  Great characters, light-hearted fun, and awesome ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  Exodus nailed it for me--this felt like the best Star Wars movie since ROTJ.

Pratt, Cooper, and especially Batista were great.  Saldana was by-the-book, but obviously dayum-looking.  This is coming from someone unfamiliar with the comics, but I'm definitely picking up some issues now.  They're dirt cheap right now.

I really hope some aspects and characters of Guardians makes their way into Avengers 2.  Pratt with RDJ would be comedy gold.

No GoG in Avengers 2 I believe.  But GoG2 is going the be a prequel to AV3, which means there may or may not be Pratt with RDJ depending on how much RDJ likes money.

I think a lot of avenger's quality can be owed to Whedon. Whedon knows comics, and has written for marvel many times. He's also a seasoned director. He was a perfect fit and as such, managed to craft - pre-GOTG I guess - one of if not the most traditionally comic book adaptations on film, a feat many claimed was impossible prior to the Avengers.

Who do you want to replace Whedon with? A non-comic book fan director? Fuck that.
