Should I play FFX-2? I have it lying around here and it's never been in my disc tray.

Tomb Raider Anniversary on the 360 - just exploring and jumping, awesome

playing on hard mode and the enemies are still suprisingly easy to bring down with your pistols.

Uhhhh.  You're going to get wildly varying responses, but in my opinion, it's not very good.  The story and characters are nearly intolerable, the graphic assets are almost entirely repeated from FFX, and the gameplay is the worst kind of "HOPE YOU HAVE A GUIDE DURR" crap I've seen from Square ever.  It has an excellent combat system, but I'm not sure that means much when everything else around it is so fucking grating.

I was hoping to skip/ignore everything rlated to plot, because I thought the mission structure looked kind of cool and I heart the combat was awesome. Is it possible to enjoy these aspects without poring over a guide? That's news to me, I hate that shit

50 Cent >>>>>>>> Gears 2

Its basically the same game without all the filler poseur bullshit. The locales/gfx arent as detailed but you can blow away a baddie on Hard Difficulty with a couple of rounds to the dome as opposed to Gears where you need to unload 4 clips worth of ammo on the lowliest foot soldier to kill him. The points/bonuses are flying all over the place and the music is all "the guns come out bich nukka fuck fuck". Most fun 3d action game Ive played in 09. Chronovore, we have to rock this co-op pretty soon! I'll print out the collectible guide so we can grab them Gold medals on the levels  :-*

Excellent. I was touring hotsprings and ropeways while taking care of my kids the entire weekend; don't think I even turned on my 360 except to see who was on. I'll probably be up this coming weekend though.

On topic: My RB2 disc is getting some nasty DISC IS DIRTY messages, possibly due to some outer edge "sanded" appearance. I'll be taking it to the professional game polishing machine, and hoping for the best. Don't want to have to buy another copy of this.

DQIX - going soooo slow so far.  I'm like 2 hours in after a week of playing lol.  Really enjoy it though.
Blazblu - haven't touched it since launch week but I still wanna get through all the story modes/arcade modes :x

cool, I was gonna flick you a PM but this thread sorta works. Im actually going through solo now on hard and getting all the gold medals. Im under the impression that we should just blow through co-op twice on easy and not worry about collecting shit. On easy we'll never die too (its not hard on hard) so It should take like 2 hours a play through. We need to mop up my Mercs 2 co-op stuff as well, should only take like 30 mins tops.

Yeah man Ive been pretty busy socialising and stuff too but Saturday daytime is looking very good for me.

Other games Im playing are:

Monkey Island SE: good game, shame about the updated graphics and voices: theyre shit

Garou: omg so awesome. Once I master this I'll move onto KOF98. Also wanna get SFIV.

Picking away at M:TG and Phantasy Star 2 also on XBLA. Man I gotta stop buying XBLA games until I complete all the ones Im playing already!

Just ordered Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. Thought I'd better give it a go as I played and loved all the other GBA/DS Metrodvanias to completion.

It's fun, although it's aged compared to similar, more recent games like Merc 2. The controls are floaty, especially vehicles, although maybe some of that is because I'm playing the PC version with a mouse and keyboard. Graphics still hold up okay. Haven't really played it enough to give any deeper impressions than that really.

Legend of the Mystical Ninja for the N64 is still fun but it feels like an early 3D platformer prototype. All the basic functions are there but everything is incredibly rough and missing a lot of the design and control subtlety that made Mario 64 such a masterpiece. Environment design feels the same way with the levels pretty much amounting to barely there aesthetics with just enough texture and layout variety from keeping it all from feeling the same.
What do you think of the music?

I've been on an Id software kick of late, playing Wolfenstein Classic on my iPhone during my commute time and putting some time on DOOM XBLA.  Forgot how fun these games were.  It's not mice and keyboard, which I prefer, but the iPhone touch controls and the 360 controller are decent analogs.

Midi-tastic and goofy. Sounds like a Saturday morning cartoon so I guess it's very appropriate.

I'm probably enjoying this game more than it deserves but I just found Sasuke and I'll be damned if the Peach Mountain Shogun Gang gets away with their dastardly deeds.
:lol

I guess the music is a bit goofy, but it fits the game perfectly. One of my favs:

Does this game work well on emulators? I wanna replay it sometime this summer.

I LOVE saying "Ebisumaru".  If I get a Japanese baby I'm naming it that.

Sounds like ZELDA OOT. Don't discriminate because you are a NINFAN

Admittedly, it does sound a description of OOT.  Yet OOT was awesome because it's injected with super-special Shiggy magic (I wish we had some sort of shiny-doe-eyed smiley).

it's a free mod for HL2 Episode 2

only a few hours long (maybe two or three) and it's really good.  One of the best single player mods, maybe, ever.  Most of the game (except the last bit) is like an adventure game; basically puzzle similar to what HL2 games had, but a lot more complex and better.  There is almost no combat at all in the game, and when there is, none of it involves you shooting a gun.

I just got Punch-Out for the Wii (it finally came out in Japan).  Seems like a pretty fun update to the original; nothing new in terms of design, but a good modern take on a classic series.  Blew through the minor circuit with ease; hope it gets more challenging from here on out.  I also like that the arenas change in each circuit.

And it is a really good thing they included a non-waggle control scheme.  I wouldn't have bought it if it was Wiimote/Nunchuk only.
