On one hand, 1 billion has been my goal in Daioujou BL for 8+ months now, so I'm glad I finally cracked ten digits. :)

On the other hand, this run was awful and I can do so much better, so I'm not at all satisfied. God damn this game. :'(

Playing a woman is the best. At the start of the game the Vaergis king is all like "I ain't giving no woman any castles or nothin" but now like 15 hours later they just hand me fiefs on a platter and I'm like "fuck yes, I am woman hear me roar."  :punch :punch I crush armies with troop counts that triple mine. I'm the fucking queen bitch of Caldaria and it feels sooooooooooo good.

Just finished Asura's Wrath the first time... game is so enjoyable.

Need to run through like 3 more times though, but thankfully all the non-gameplay scenes are skippable.

Going to buy the DLC right now.

Arkham City Harley Quinn DLC is baaaad.  Might be the most worthless DLCs I've played.

When I heard it's short and reusing content, I thought it'd be like FEAR 2's DLC; a 1 to 2 hour remix of the main game for veterans.  This Batman DLC is an hour of really easy brawls.  No puzzles, real stealth sections, or anything interesting.  It's not like you're playing as Robin for most of it either.  What a lazy product.  Feel ripped off at $3.50.  And they charged $10 for this initially.

Started to play Gunman's Proof for SFC.
Pretty interesting game, at first appearance, it looks like a LttP clone, even using a similar art style. But instead of an open-world puzzle game, it's a score-based action game. You get scored on how fast you finish a dungeon, how much damage you took, and how many of the hidden treasures you were able to find. I'm not huge on scoring aspects in games, but it's an interesting take on the top down action RPG genre.

Plus you fight semi-blackface-looking enemies.

Time Travelers

This is pretty much for Oscar since no one else is aware of what's going on with non-translated Visual Novels.  But I'm about 33% through Time Travelers and while I'm enjoying it I don't understand why it exists as a "videogame".  By taking a visual novel and making it non-stop cutscenes that you watch and occasionally hit O, they've kind of removed the barrier that separated a VN from a j-drama or anime series.  There's no difference between me sitting and playing Time Travelers on my Vita and me sitting and watching the hypothetical Time Travelers anime on my couch between the screen size.

Just seems kind of pointless.

I enjoyed it but, yeah, it's not $10 worth of content. It was a neat little epilogue, and playing through with Bats' and Robin's differed abilities was enjoyable. Overall, very short.

Just started up Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The augment system is daunting as fuck seeing as a good amount of them seem like they'd be useful. And I'm the type that takes years to choose an upgrade path and then second guesses myself. Great game so far though, I went with Deus Ex difficulty and its tough as fuck but I'm ok with that.

Also, the game allows you to change the FoV in the game menu. Every fucking non-competitive FPS should do this holy fuck. The default FoV of 70 is awful.

Got sick of Fortune Summoners.  The clunky gameplay and overly uguu story did it no favors.  I got about 4 hours of play out of it, so it wasn't too bad.

Now I'm trying to decide if I should invest time in Last Remnant or not.  I've dabbled in it several times for an hour or so, but I always seem to get distracted.

Also trying to participate in a GAF Dota 2 league and there is a shit ton of drama after one day.  :piss2

Space Marine

Game doesn't help you acclimate to the warhammer universe at all.  Enough cool shit happens and overconfident orcs yell "MOAH SPACE MARINES TA KILL!" that it works without all the knowledge.  I imagine it's like playing the Ghostbusters game without knowledge of the other media.  Not a knock against the game or anything, because the plot is simple enough, but other times I'm watching a cutscene where
spoiler (click to show/hide)
a magic portal opens and another ultramarine comes out, only he's not a good guy.  Something called Warp power opens a portal to allow Chaos forces to enter this dimension.  And I guess Warp power is space magic and Chaos is space hell.  And the Chaos characters are like Black Lanterns; dead ultramarines resurrected to be evil.  And then there are Inquisitor Space Marines, who are the scientists and/or psychic power uses.  And there's something called a Codex, which I assume is the Bible.  And and the main character holds the Warp energy source and that means he might be corrupted by Chaos or something?  I dunno.  There's a rad ass giant mech and you smash demons with a huge hammer
[close]

I just came away more intrigued by the universe and wanting to know more.  I have those warhammer rts games on steam so maybe those do a better job.

Anyway, the game is really fun.  It's awesome how you regain health by playing aggressively.  No need to hide behind cover.  You can focus on smashing space orcs.  Best parts are when you get the jetpack and do the ground pound attack that takes out a dozen enemies at once.   Weapons are also really satisfying and powerful.  If you get a crowd of orcs rushing you, one shot can take them all out.  The visual and auditory feedback makes the game.  An example is the sprinting since it's slow and pointless.  But I do it anyway because the MC lumbers along and each footstep sounds like he's slamming down an enormous amount of weight.

Space Marine

Have you tried the online stuff yet? I picked up 20 games in the steam sale and the only thing I've touched so far is Space Marine and most of that has been in multiplayer. Only thing I haven't liked is exterminatus mode as it kinda drags on too long and most the time your teammates think they're John fucking Rambo and end up wasting most your lives. Also, I swear the bonus round of Chaos Unleashed is impossible. Bunch of sadists must have come up with that.

Hell yeah, and it's fun too, if you can find a game without serious lag.

One thing I didn't bother springing for was the dreadnought dlc. Looks like it'd be pretty dull having to be the one to face off against the dreadnought. That thing is completely broken.

Starting to play Hard Corps: Uprising again. I used to be able to beat this game with 1 death at most, but in my first run I had to continue 5 or 6 times. :lol I think I'll just play casually until I relearn the solutions to everything, and then I'll start going for another 1-life clear with Sayuri and Bahamut.

Still an amazing game. One of the best run and guns ever.

I've also been playing Space Marine. Except I don't follow any of the Warhammer stuff at all so its all just incoherent hilarity to me.

ULTRA marines who are SPACE KNIGHTS who still use their SPACE SWORDS to kill SPACE ORKS?  :lol

It would help if they bothered to explain the plot at all or even what I'm doing but it seems they've cribbed storytelling techniques from Gears of War as well.

I played ~10 minutes of a few games yesterday just to get them running because that steam start up redist shit is annoying when I actually want to play:

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit starts with an unskippable tutorial on how to use the gotdamn menu.  shit's ridiculous.  the game looks great and it's fun in free drive.

Alan Wake American Nightmare
runs great with everything maxed (~50 fps when I opened fraps).  The arcade mode is pretty fun.  The 360 gamepad controls are as excellent as they were on the 360 and this is a rare case where I prefer to play with it.

Trine 2
saved my demo progress and automatically unlocked 5 trophies and 3 levels.  cool.

Ys Origin I've played before, but this Steam version has true wide screen.  good stuff.

Alice Madness Returns
has nice hair physics.  You have a triple jump.

Dear Esther
I ended up playing this 60 more than 10 minutes.  Definitely not a game but still enjoyable.  Very nice looking and sounding.  It all comes together by the end nicely.

it took me to 10 minutes to get from loading up NFS: HP to actually playing it between the shitty logging in to EA servers, forgetting my pw, forcing to me reset my pw, using gmail cellphone code so I can log in to my gmail account to retrieve said email, changing my actual password, logging into NFS: HP EA servers, and finally having to sit through that awful tutorial.

And the game isn't that great anyways.

Got Persona 4 Arena.  Brief impressions after a few hours of messing around, mostly-online:

-I'm not normally one to talk about this, but wow- this game has some great presentation.  It really keeps the feel of the recent Persona games and has some familiar P3/P4 music on the menu screen.

-Lesson mode is a great tutorial for new players and there is ZERO load time going from one lesson to the next!

-There's not as much going on when playing on certain stages, but P4 Arena is easily Arc's best-looking 2D fighter to date- beautiful, clean sprites and bright, detailed backgrounds.  I love the P4 main character's theme music, too.  Wish more stage BGMs had vocals!

-Still not too sure what to make of the game play just yet.  It almost feels too simplistic at times, especially compared to BlazBlue.  It's fun, but it also feels too "easy" when you can just press the light attack button and watch your character do an auto-combo-into-super automatically if you have the meter available.  But there's plenty of game play features and obviously if this game didn't have real depth, it wouldn't be so popular in J-arcades.

-That said, I think this game is going to be much, much easier for people to get into than some of the other Arc fighting games.  Most of the characters' moves are also just quarter-circle motions and charge moves...nothing really more complex than that.

-I've only played against Japanese players online, so that's left me kind of locked into playing ranked matches-- almost every player match room was set to not accept lower-bar connections and everyone shows up with 0 bars, as I'm sure I show to them.  Most of the matches I've played have been on the same level as BlazBlue and Arcana Heart 3...very, very good connection quality, and again that's with the connection bar showing as ZERO!  There's no pre-fight sync-slowdown that I'm seeing though...you pretty much know right away if the connection quality is going to be good or not.

-Arcade mode has some brief story and dialogue sequences between the characters.  Tried Story Mode briefly and it really feels like a different game.  Very much like a visual novel...if it's true that this mode has 30-40 hours of content,  I can definitely see it appealing to non-fighting game playing Persona 4 fans.  It really is a direct-sequel to P4, taking place two months later.  I'm staying away from this mode until I play P4 on Vita.

And this guy is my favorite character:

Teddie is just fun as hell to play as!

Just beat the fire boss as the axe girl in Ys Origins. I'm hooked. I might actually play as the boy afterward before moving on to Oath.
