Isn't that called "labor laws" ?

Fun fact, for most of human history the weekend wasn't even a thing, for thousands of years the majority of the population of China worked almost every single day of the year growing rice. Much of Asia still does in fact. It's not even extraordinarily unhealthy to work that hard as long as you eat well, humans are designed to survive and thrive in the most extraordinarily punishing conditions. Our concept of the 8h day and the 40 hour week is an anachronism in the eyes of the majority of the world.
We also didn't have antibiotics, electricity and refrigeration for most of that time. Doesn't make those frivolous luxuries still...
I've done plenty of "free" overtime (never to the extent of 60-80h a week though) for low to average pay, but with age I tend to think the best worker is the one capable of completing a task within his normal hours (or capable, if needed, to know which corners to cut to get there). After all, keeping a deadline, delivering within alloted time and budget is the standard for companies, is it not ?
The "entertainement" industry was a mistake, it's nothing but trash.
