I could certainly see Obivion and FO4 being bland. I've always hated Fallout because it was always "Rust: The Color: The game" But I actually liked Skyrim. It's not Morrowind, but I wouldn't call it bland. Shivering Isles did OK as well.

I mean i am tempted tol because its been years, but i remember I put in like 15/20 hours max on the pc version.

That is probably double of what I put into oblivion and F4 combined... so hmmm maybe its not as bad?

Oblivion is so fucking bland. I can't recall ever falling asleep so much while playing another game. Granted, it was a busy time for me back then but still. Skyrim has a lot of atmosphere in the beginning but that feeling dissipates after ten, twenty hours or so and you realize it's the same bland shit as before.

All of this and then you have to pay 60 bucks for the port of a six year old game without access to mods? Not exactly a bargain unless you're new to Elder Scrolls.

That's all the Bethesda RPGs for me.  Bland and boring.  I've only ever messed around with them because of mods.

If I want to play Skyrim on the go, I can install it on my GPD WIN and play it with mods.  Which I already did last year, got bored after a few hours, and deleted.  This is a pass from me.

Not a fan of Skyrim either.
Or 30fps Doom.

Random gripe: Why did the Torchlight guys have to die for our sins... I'd have loved that on the switch.

Also, this MariO game... It is pretty spiffy.

I'm really not getting the timing down for that spin attack, though. Why'd that have to be a waggle input. :-\

Switch got a surprise Hulu release today.  Hulu before Netflix or Youtube is kinda weird, heh.

EDIT: It works well, but doesn't seem to have touch support.

Hulu as the first media app on switch? :lol
No touch support?  :lol

This is so Nintendo. Regardless of who's at fault here - no, actually, I'm commending the  Hulu team for getting something out of the door - but a late, half-assed, low-tier port of a third-party app in a comparatively simple but hugely in-demand category just fits perfectly. Wouldn't want to have it any other way on Nintendo hardware. ;)

I guess I just don’t care about Netflix or Hulu on switch.

I have tablets and phones and Rokus and TVs that all play Netflix and Hulu and hbo go and so on.

I really only need my switch to play games.

Though, Wii U was low key the best browser for watching porn.

Pretty much. I don't really care about video streaming on the Switch because I can do it on Chromecast, Xbox, tablet, phone, laptop, and desktop. It's good for the people that want it, but I just can't bring myself to care at this point.

Actually, it was Nico Nico Douga a few months back.  :)

Yeah, me too- I still like having the option to watch stuff on the Switch, though.  Ditto for all the other game systems.

DOOM is really impressive.  Yeah, it's running at 720P and 30 FPS (or sub 30 sometimes).  Yeah, it looks kind of ugly docked and is way better on the handheld.  It doesn't matter.  Still amazing as hell to see it looking and running this well on a handheld.   I was also impressed with the multiplayer (dedicated servers!), which not only played smoothly, but I tried docking it mid-game into my wired dock, and it still seamlessly kept the game going without a hiccup.

Part of me wants Xenoblade because I like JRPG's that are structured like MMO's, but that trailer where the big lizard whale thing turned around and spoke like it was a parody in South Park turned me off. I just can't get down with the artstyle and presentation.

I had mixed feelings for the first Xenoblade, mainly because of it's structure. Everyone likes different things I suppose but Xenoblade's cookie cutter npcs and sidequests and the big but boring maps didn't do it any favors, at least not for me. It just distracted me from enjoying the otherwise good plot and interesting world and atmosphere.

I don't like the presentation of this one here either, but if they managed to do better sidequests and maps, I'd be down for it.

Even tho it's far from being a Japanese Witcher 3, FF15 kinda proved that it's possible to do a decent open world JRPG with reasonably meaningful content.

I'd actually say that Skyrim is a bit too close to BOTW from a gameplay perspective. While they are clearly different games, the thematic and gameplay overlap is there. So rather, get an entirely different game like MariO, Mario&Rabbids, Doom, Disgaea, Splatoon 2 or Golf Story. That way, when you grow tired of one, you can switch to the other and still have fun. Playing two open world RPG-y games at the same time is a bit too draining, in comparison. I think.

Of course, be prepared to eventually get Skyrim.

Depends, have you played Witcher 3? If so, no.
From the little time I've had with Witcher 3 so far, I can already see it does everything Skyrim does better. If you've played Witcher 3, Skyrim will feel like a step backward.

IMO Skyrim was a great time and place sort of deal. It excelled in delivering a world to explore where you didn't know what you'd find over the next Hill or mountain. Other games have since surpassed it from different angles but I think it's still a game worth seeing if you can get over some of the jank.

I don't even remember what the difference between Budokai Tenkaichi and Budokai is.   :lol

Xenoverse is kind of like a fighting game/RPG hybrid.  It has versus modes (including online multiplayer), but the focus of the game is on creating your own character and leveling him/her up through fights and studying under a "master" (various DBZ characters) who you can learn techniques from.  The Switch version benefits from having the entire storyline campaign from Xenoverse 1 as free DLC (at least currently), so it's worth picking up on Switch for that alone.  It runs at 30 FPS but feels pretty smooth and plays well.
