Here is how it works in era :
If the person with bad history is a person era worships or moderator or a shitposter who is very influential, the past history is not allowed to be posted, the discussion is not allowed, a thread is often locked because mods “don’t see value in the discussion of someone’s past” and people walk over themselves to justify the past history of the person
If the person with bad sentence once in their history is anyone else, even one minor infraction means you are a gamergater even if they are not, that they are alt right even if they are liberals and every apology is scrutinized for every word and nuance. Often the discussion goes on for 10s of pages and often folks defending the person are banned or warned for “excusing x , y and z and past history of doing the same(even if they don’t have a past history of doing anything) “ and this person eventually gets shitposted in every mentioned thread and eventually banned from being sourced or discussed
