It's not like we need any more evidence of the efficacy of vaccines, but here is some pretty interesting data from my home state:
Total deaths: 1034
Triple vaccinated (with booster): 286
Fully vaccinated (two doses): 400
Partially vaccinated (one dose): 73
Unvaccinated: 268
Deaths prior to vaccines: 7
While it might be argued that the majority of people who died were vaccinated, once you start factoring in the total number of people vaccinated or not vaccinated, then things become very clear.
Number of people vaccinated (single, double or triple) is 4.8 million people (92.36 per cent of the population over 16 years). i.e. 759/4,800,000=0.00015
Number of people unvaccinated is around 367,000 i.e. 268/367,000=7.3
I am sure there are other variables involved, but considering the majority of the unvaccinated population skews younger, then I am pretty happy to say that the vaccines work.
The whole country is pretty much under zero restrictions outside of mask wearing on planes and public transport with only restrictions remaining in hospitals and aged care facilities.
The next time someone says COVID vaccines don't work, just tell them to shut the fuck up.
