Re-reading some Sandman, since Cormacaroni sent me a heap of them. It holds up surprisingly well.
Also finished Allred's The Atomics. Started off dry and stilted, but I was into it by the end of the first hardcover. It's charming. A twee comic about superheroes with trans-species sex, murder, acne, and heart-torn teenagers.
Also enjoyed a couple more TPBs of The Authority, my first not by Uncle Warren. Transfer of Power (#22-29) and Harsh Realities (vol. 2, issues #0-5). It was OK, but I think I'm done. I'll re-read Ellis' stuff if I want more. It felt like the other guys were aping the form.
I've read the first five TPBs of Invincible as well. Nothing as surprising as the first major plot twist, which is more the central pillar on which the story's built, but the way Kirkman plays with comic tropes while maintaining some nods to believable human behavior is quite skillful. The art's great, too.
