Cold Souls
It tiptoes a fine line between religious film and science fiction, making for a rather unique film. It's closest cousins would be something like Synedoche, New York or The Fountain. The premise of the film is that the soul is a physical thing, something that can be removed and then re-implanted at will or you can even implanted someone else's soul into your body. At the same time, maybe there's a bit more to it than that. It asks a lot of questions and give some answers, but given the nature of the questions themselves not all of them are going to be fully answered. Also, Paul Giamatti really owns this movie. He plays it toned-down most of the time, but when he gets going it's really something to see. The movie's probably worth watching just for those scenes, actually, but it's nice that the rest of the movie is pretty good too.
