THe movie wasn't that bad.
THe movie wasn't that bad.
It's not good either. That scene where they are hiding behind lab tables in 10 x 20 room is hilariously awful. It was straight out of the 80's.
I kinda assumed they'd given up on the show's narrative and were just going to keep casually mentioning the upcoming wedding forever.I was hoping they would drop it completely as if it never happen. Then a few months later towards the end of one of their normal episodes, have Mike casually ask "Hey Jay, remember that time you fell in love with and almost married Mr. Plinkett"?
I feel like they've done stuff like that so much already. Them actually following through is a good change-up. :PYou're right, but it also never gets old watching them troll their audience. :lol
Are these movies good?

God that whole series. At the end of #2 they repel an attack from the bad guys who have to run away, and then stay in the same place. I'm like, any bad organization that isn't COMPLETELY incompetent would just send reinforcements as the dumb fucks decided to stay in the same place.I was really confused during that entire fight. But then I wouldn't be able to live my Jay marriage fantasy through Mr. Plinkett's eye's in that case.

Okay Jay/Rich this is the rough edit. Insert the final trailer after it's uploaded this Sunday or Monday (You'll see the spot for it) This way we can have the reaction video out before everyone else. Our reactions will probably match up to the trailer as these SW trailers are pretty boilerplate and predictable at this point. Remember DO NOT POST THIS anytime before the official release of the trailer. We'll look really stupid. Also, Rich - a collection agency keeps calling my phone looking for you. They sounded pretty mad. Made some comments about "breaking your legs" - which seemed a little unusual for collections? Your gambling habit hasn't resurfaced again has it? If so we need to have a talk. DO NOT borrow money from Jimmy "the leg breaker" Malone anymore. Okay, talk with you guys soon. - Mike

I dunno if I'd put it over the Phantom Menace. PM issues aside, it was an "alright" film that should've set the "tone" for the prequel with the political backstabbing being the fore-front. From what I recall (and I am not watching the prequels ever again) it was there in the background and then SURPRISE THE SENATOR IS A SITHLORD! :doge
I've rewatched the prequel reviews over the last couple days, and I have to say, I think the Episode 3 one is the best.
- Stupid Kid Han Solo
- "Where would you rape the Millenium Falcon anyways? ...RIGHT THERE, I'VE DONE IT"
- Commander Nefarious, Captain Imabadguy, and Admiral Bonetopick
- "Mmm... I like to fuck my cat."
- "Like when Yoda is on Kashyyyk, is he like 'Hey... wait a minute... Palpatine's behind it all!'"
- PALPATINE'S BEHIND IT ALL
- "The entire Senate is filled with stupid idiots." <picture of the US Senate>
- Kneeling before Monster Mash and pledging loyalty to the graveyard smash
- Great filmmaking comparison between the boringness of Anakin telling Mace that Palpatine is a Sith, and the excitement of Star Trek 09
I also really dig his suggested improvements and how the Clone War really should have went down. I dunno, RotS is the best of the prequels but it surprisingly has the most material for a takedown review.
The Ghostbusters 2016 Plinkett review is also really good and probably my favourite outside of his Star Wars ones.
Lowkey his Titanic review is pretty good.

No. But they will watch this video and proclaim RLM has now gone fully nazi for making fun of the historic social movement that is Disney's™ Black Panther™ (3D glasses must be bought separate).
I'm too lazy to search the shithole right now - has anyone actually dared to post this on REEEE OT?
Like Jay said comparing a R rated $40 million dollar sci fi film vs a PG 13 $200+ million dollar blockbuster seems off. It just reeks of poorly thought out whataboutism.
I definitely was like "oh no so many nerds are going to talk about DOG WHISTLING" during the opening of that video only for them to wrap it around and point out the hypocrisy of the same nerds who completely ignore movies being made with diversity and inclusion because they aren't part of a big franchise with explosions and jokes every 3 minutes.
I am not proud of this, not proud of this at all. I rewatched Justice league just to listen at the RLM audio commentary at the same time. God, what a terrible movie.
JL was ok. Enjoyable enough fluff, which is all I ask for out of comic book movies, and considering the absolute dogshit that came before, it was a pleasant surprise.
That Don Beveridge part reminded me of the Impractical Jokers. Where the loser is forced to speak in front of a group of people and fake their way through it.
I am not proud of this, not proud of this at all. I rewatched Justice league just to listen at the RLM audio commentary at the same time. God, what a terrible movie. This is the only way I'm watching Justice League. That way I can get one of my co-workers off my back about watching it. He's one of those dumb dumbs that thinks every superhero movie is the best thing ever and doesn't understand why I don't like them. He told told me I must not be into action movies. I said I liked Fury Road. He said well that figures you just like boring action movies.
I definitely prefer when they get random shit like Don Beveridge as opposed to actual moviessurviving edged weapons
I was watching surviving edged weapons I had this feeling of deja vu. It turns out I watched that as a training video when I was a correctional officer in Arizona back in the 90s. Unfortunately they edited out all the funnier bits where people were talking to each other with their shity Wisconsin accents when I watched it the first time. I definitely would have picked up on that because I'm from Wisconsin. So I don't think there's going to be any video that surpasses that for me.I definitely prefer when they get random shit like Don Beveridge as opposed to actual moviessurviving edged weapons
The day may come when Freddy Got Fingered is seen as a milestone of neo-surrealism.
Seeing Tom Green reminded me, as how could it not, of his movie Freddy Got Fingered, which was so poorly received by the film critics that it received only one lonely, apologetic positive review on the Tomatometer. I gave it—let's see—zero stars. Bad movie, especially the scene where Green was whirling the newborn infant around his head by its umbilical cord. But the thing is, I remember Freddy Got Fingered more than a year later. I refer to it sometimes. It is a milestone. And for all its sins, it was at least an ambitious movie, a go-for-broke attempt to accomplish something. It failed, but it has not left me convinced that Tom Green doesn't have good work in him. Anyone with his nerve and total lack of taste is sooner or later going to make a movie worth seeing.

I cant wait to hear their take on the ending :lawd
Hearing about them cutting all the practical effects and replacing them with awful CGI at the last minute is just a kick in the balls.
But I read that the company that made the practical effects ended up making their own movie inspired by The Thing. I'll have to check that out.

I totally agree with them and Carpenter. It doesn't matter and we're not supposed to know.It matters to me in that it's an extra bit of colour to the question of the trust state between the two chars at the end.

O SHIT BOYS
Mike completely trashed this movie in the most comprehensive way.
The Star Trek / Star Wars montage was just painful. Just like him going back to scenes with nervous as fuck Johnson not knowing what the fuck he was doing.
This is one of the best reviews of anything ever created.
It's a work of art.
Cheebs got fucking wrecked.
The deleted scenes took this even further into prequel shit tier than it was already. I hadn’t seen them and I’m embarrassed they were made and also for the actors involved. To be a black main character that uses a lightsaber and has a grand finale in the first film only to be turned into a gay joke. They did Finn wrong.
The TFA review is bad but because is clear he enjoyed TFA and was annoyed of people saying the prequels were “better”...
correctly calling rian johnson out for being an absolute filmschool freshman with a desperation to be noticed but without the talent to make his work stand out organically when everyone was still on his 4 and a half inches is one of my greater forum loser victories.
even his breaking bad episodes were wank.
It should have been Edgar Wright in hindsight
What the fuck are they going to do for Episode IX? Short of a massive time skip that’s 10-20 years in the future after the rebellion rebuilds I’m not sure how they fix this?
How about some movies in the old republic era, or one while the sith (race) is still around.
I agree. More prequels!
Prequel memes >>>>> Sequel series

My Star Wars - Copy the fuck out of Legend of Galactic Heroes and just make the protag and antag force users.

That's where my 30 years war idea comes from. It can't be 100+ like it was in LOGH tho.
I also don't think Yang Wenly works with force powers.
Star Wars is an adventure pulp story. I don't want senates, schools, politics, or anything that seems to reflect our world.Star Wars can be whatever you want it to be. I was hopeful with the announcements of side stories they would do more politics and war etc and do the main crap as pulp.
playing tie fighter as a kid felt more star wars than star wars did. the films became a propagandic retelling that skewed the facts and grossly simplified the complex state of things.you're going to need to expand on this point a bit, in universe propaganda? real life politics? Also what was simplified, I never found anything inside the Star Wars lore to be at all complex, unless you mean real world stuff, if so what?

like watching the patriot after indulging in a deep history of the successes and failings of the british empire.
we weren't the good guys, but shit was complex.
it was a massive logistical undertaking and morality is always going to get muddy when you push the borders of possibility. the empire brought the promethean light of civilised order to the universe. can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs, which was all the rebellion concerned themselves over.Who's going to throw the tea into the sarlacc pit? :thinking
episodes VII-IX should've been about the slow descent into financial ruin and the breakdown of society at the weak hand of the idealistic bureaucrats.
I don't really agree. While I don't agree with cindi that it has to be always be jedis and whatnot. But eh, I'm not really looking for mature adult Star Wars, A realistic and gritty Star wars with realistic characters with realistic problems. I don't want Law and Order Star Wars, 500 Days of Summer Star Wars, super adult Star Wars, and so on.Star Wars is an adventure pulp story. I don't want senates, schools, politics, or anything that seems to reflect our world.Star Wars can be whatever you want it to be. Well then you got the prequels. Hope you’re happy. No, It's treason then.
Writing long ass careposts about Star Wars :mindblownWriting long ass careposts about Star Wars :nope
Writing long ass careposts about Star Trek :ohyeah
The above point is also why Star Wars kinda sucks as a universe and story-telling device. :idont
It took Rogue One for me to realize it, but Star Wars will only ever be lightsabers, Jedi, Sith. In my draft I wanted to limit that but I realize you can't or won't be Star Wars. Star Wars is a specific, very limited sort of thing that can tell only specific kinds of stories. Even Rogue One, which has no Jedi in the main cast still deals with things like Darth Vader cameos.
Star Wars should have just been the original trilogy. It should have never, ever been revived beyond remasters. They decided to not only make a prequel trilogy but also a sequel trilogy and the result? Now almost everyone is tired of Star Wars. Star Wars has been over exposed and shown to be what it ultimately is: aside from a few movies it's nothing special. It isn't Gundam, which can tell all sorts of stories since its main theme is of war and how awful it is. Gundam can be hokey like Wing or Seed, but also deep and depressing like in 0080: War in the Pocket, or fantastical like in Turn A. It's not Star Trek. It's not LOGH. It's not BSG. It's not even Dune.
Star Wars is the Superman of space opera. It has very few tricks and is good at only specific things.
Gotta disagree with the review in that the movie looks great and I'm surprised that nowhere on the internet there's any talk about all the horrednous cgi. Episode 7 wasn't perfect in that regard, but at least tried to look less fake. Ep 8 went straight back into prequel-territory with all the shitty looking cgi animals and goblins etc everywhere cluttering up the screen. Then during the invasion on thesnowsalt planet, all I could think about is how the tanks in ESB look way more believable than their new cg equivalent.

"But it hasn’t lived up to expectations. The Last Jedi outdid Rogue One, but it didn’t match The Force Awakens’ box office turnout, and while Solo certainly set up the potential for follow-up films, it came in at just under $400 million at the global box office, which is by far the lowest-grossing live-action film of the entire franchise. (The pilot for The Clone Wars did a measly $68 million when it was dumped into theaters.)"
How crazy. I mean, yeah, a film a year is a bit much. I'm happy to have it, but I think their reasoning is off. SOLO made double its money back, at least, if it cost even $200M to make. That's a reasonable return, and it showcases Disney's greed if that's considered a failure. SOLO faltered because it was the blandest possible handling of a potentially interesting character.
Including the animated, low-budget, abridged Clone Wars theatrical release among that lot is just bad-on-bad reporting, like including one of the direct-to-video Disney sequel's errant theatrical showings among their tentpole release schedule.
Disney being greedy surprised you?

Why the fuck would you draw this shit out with zero elements of humor
Why is the last panel about smugly patting yourself on the back for recognizing your own entertainment privilege still showing him watching RLM anyway

At the end of 2011, Jay has a list of nerd movies coming out in 2012 that he's excited to see.
Prometheus. The Hobbit. The Dark Knight Rises.
Yeah I know I was hyped for it, too. Just lol'd that all the movies he listed ended up being notoriously disappointing movies. You're not alone.
Although I still quite enjoy Prometheus despite all of its problems, of which there are many and there isn't really any defending them.
I was pissed at first they didn’t do “How to sell thousands of dollars worth of plants from your home, even if your home is surrounded by discount stores and home improvement stores" but the Rem Lezar bit was an all-time classic. It deserves to go on the shelf of fame.
Also, lol @ Mike derailing ( ;) ) the voting by refusing to let Rem Lezar get the sweep.
I asked ny roomate for any specific botw recs, watched #16 edged weapons. :delicious
Poor Jay and Mike never recovered from Man of Steel. That's the real turning point in HITB where they start getting more and more cynical and never ease off the gas again.
They ultimately agreed with Brie Larson's sentiment, just not the way she put it out there, and it didn't impact their view of the movie, nor was any of that involved in the movie itself. One recommended it, the other didn't but not out of thinking it was terrible or bleh women :yuck but out of boredom of an unnecessary story in an already too bogged down with characters and MacGuffins universe. Absolutely nothing for RE types to get their jimmies rustled. The super cut of nothing but people of color/women doing pressers with Star Wars casts right after she said that people other than white dudes would like to talk to the Star Wars people :lol
This isn't anything like their Ghostbusters 2016 discussion where they accused Sony (and Paul Feig) of intentionally publicizing and possibly even encouraging the sexist backlash for PR purposes.
Been watching old BOTW before bed, Jack is clearly the best of the B cast. His laughs of pure joy are :aweshum
Who was the new guy in the latest video? He was just kinda hanging out, I think he said like 3 things the whole time. ???
That dude looks like someone who shouldn't be allowed within 500 yards of a child and I hope he doesn't return because he grossed me outWhy would they ask Rich Evans not to return, after so much time?
I don't get that at all, I get that Mike and Jay have known each other since the 90s/early 00s, and everyone else came along later. I'm sure there's some nerd lore on Reddit or something, but I'm pretty sure Mike and Jay knew each other before they knew anyone else in the group.
Mike: "Rich Evans was involved in my short films since probably mid-high school."
Rich: "We'd come up with crazy, stupid ideas. Things we'd never possibly film cause we didn't have the resources. Then we'd go to his house after school and try anyway."
Mike: "I'd put Rich in costumes in my parents' basement and then throw things at him. And uh, make him embarrass himself for my own amusement. (laughs)"
Almost everyone that's appeared on HITB or Best of The Worst pop up in the Episode 1 review. Pretty sure even the weirdo with the pedo stache from above.
Also :jeanluc at being friends with teenaged Rich Evans

What happened to the broads? There was the red head comedian who showed up in a few early BOTW and at least one HITB, and of course Jessi was around in a ton of stuff then vanished one day, never to be spoken of again.
There are definitely vids long after she stopped appearing on camera where you could still hear her laughing at stuff in the background and whatnot. That actually makes it weirder to me.
Oh yeah, I do remember hearing that some fans were irredeemable creeps in some comments, possibly on reddit

To be fair to Disney this shit actually works.
A bunch of friends already send me messages:
"Wow, did you see the new Star Wars trailer. This looks much better than the previous film"
"Cool they're bringing back the emperor"
"Woah, this looks much better than expected"
etc.
This shit works on the general movie going populace and JJ Abrams knows how to bring this home.
He'll save Star Wars again so the next movie can fuck it all up again.
I wouldn't be mad either. Marvel makes the same formulaic shlock over and over and reviews will always be lame variants of "it was okay, lolol better than DC amirite".yeah this is exactly my problem, they just have to review one as they will all be the same thing with different dialogue.
The worse they are the more Mike loves it. He also loves both Jurassic World movies.
It's kind of hard for them not to recommend a Marvel movie. They're all a baseline of definitely watchable/mostly enjoyable except one or two, they're not individually complicated, all have something for everyone, and then the overlapping part of a 22 movie adds to it. There's really not a legitimate reason either of them could tell their audience not to see the newest Marvel movie unless you're already sick of them and weren't going to see it anyway.
The worse they are the more Mike loves it. He also loves both Jurassic World movies.
He loves 1.5 of the 2 Jurassic World movies. He hated the back half of Fallen Kingdom, while Jay liked it.
Did they love Endgame? I haven’t watched the HitB yet.

By combining the bracelet, the prize inside his friend's old cereal box, and a The Legend of Zelda map featured in the first-ever issue of Nintendo Power, Sam is able to find a location that doesn't show on web mapping where he finds a man and three women in a hut. The man reveals the answer to Sam's investigation: through history a selected few wealthy men like himself choose to lock themselves into underground bunkers similar to the one Sam previously discovered in order for their souls to "ascend" similar to Egyptian Pharaohs, while taking three wives to go with them. He confirms that Sarah and her roommates were Jefferson Sevence's wives, and that their deaths were faked in order for the four of them to ascend. Once they went inside their bunker, it was sealed and cannot be left. However the process takes months and they can actually be contacted via videotelephony. Sam speaks with Sarah, who confirms that she entered the bunker on her own will and that she's at peace with her fate. Since Sarah leaving the bunker is not an option, the two share an emotional farewell and hang up for good.
Sam unexpectedly passes out along with the man and his three wives, just as the Homeless King arrives. The Homeless King captures Sam, and when he finds dog biscuits in his pocket it is heavily implied that Sam is the Dog Killer who's wreaked havoc across Los Angeles. Sam alludes to a painful breakup with his girlfriend and their dog, and the despair he felt knowing they'd never get back together and would never see his dog again. The Homeless King eventually lets him go, stating that the members of the conspiracy probably won't kill Sam, although he is not certain. When he comes back to his apartment complex, Sam spends the night with a neighbor whose parrot keeps on saying incomprehensible words, although she too does not know what words he is saying. From her balcony, Sam sees his landlord and a police lady entering his apartment to evict him because he didn't pay his rent. The two realize that the wall has been painted with a strange symbol, which Sam knows to be a message left by the conspiracy members to remind him to keep quiet.

Man, am I glad I don't watch a ton of films. I feel bad they had to suffer through this slog based on this wikipedia summary.
You're not going to get anything from the plot summary, you have to actually watch it.

What’s the rlm origin story? Did they go to film school or what?
I get the impression Rich and Mike are childhood friends, and since Mike *is* RLM, I don't see Rich leaving unless he wants to. (And honestly, there's probably more of a chance of that happening, considering how cynical he is.)

Pure speculation here but it looks a lot like "blue collar / middle class movie buffs (ascendency nerd / entertainment/ action / horror) from bumfuck land who didn't really try to make a career out of it because of a lack of means, ambition and/or out of conviction."

I think is only Rich who doesn’t went to film school but has a pretty decent past in blue collar work (I think he is the main person who design the sets and the Plinketto/WheelsOfTheWorst.

Jumping back to Knights of the Old Republic times also makes some amount of sense, as it's really the only untainted part left (and probably the biggest EU piece that hasn't made it over to the new canon yet.) And they can easily do a trilogy there, and handwave any incontinuity or "weirdness" with "Eh it's just a long time ago, things were different."

I feel bad for them. They are so done with Star Wars, yet they still have to talk about it because that's how they came to fame.
It's like watching your favorite musical artist have to fake a smile and sing their pop song (they wrote when they were 16 years old) for the billionth time.
TLJ would've been good if it was only Luke, Rey and Kylo.

:idont
They talk about every big trash release on HitB anyway.
There are so many ways it could've gone that would be interesting to explore
Although I will say Luke being a hermit in the second movie sure is a lot like poetry, it rhymes
Would've been cool if he hadn't died and instead realized he had to come out of retirement to be a badass in the third movie or something
Like the old master who only takes 5 seconds to resolve the situation when pressed and you realize not to fuck with him
And then when even he is threatened later on you know it's a significant threat
Maybe that's still leaning too fanboyish but it's something, anything other than what they ended up doing
That scene between Kylo and Rey in the tent was EXCELLENT.
People liked Solo/Rogue One
I think I posted it here, but at an early screening of TLJ, before any impressions were up, I think I said something to the effect of 'this was the first Star Wars movie that I came out of actively not liking.' (Also something about almost bursting out laughing when Leia's body was vacuumed out to space.)
There's not even a honeymoon period with these films like there were with the prequels, I feel like they bring absolutely nothing to the table... it's more of a CW show type of thing where you keep watching to see where they go next.
Did anyone actually like TLJ as an individual movie on its own merits?
Call me weird, but I'd rather watch revenge of the sith, at least it gave me many entertaining memes and laughs.
The only ranking that matters:

Do you think Kylo's hog is as wide as his torso and if so, do you think it's genetic

Shouldn't all these old fucks be able to stay young looking and in shape via force fuckery? Or are you telling me Kylo is the first force user to figure out power lifting?Canonically, Anakin figured out how to make his force ghost stay in his 20s forever, while Obi Wan has to look like he was after 15 years drunk in the desert figuring out how to have an "accident" befall Luke's aunt and uncle.
Perhaps you can point me to a canon comic book that covers exactly how Force Ghosts work in excruciating, unnecessary detail

I had Plinkett TLJ in my recommendations and totally forgot they did that :fbm I also didn't remember anything but the tearing down of the goof tone at the end. Decent enough video, not nearly as bad as the TFA review. Still, there was just too little time between release and review, you can't beat classic Plinkett like that.

Scary times
I got your twisted pair right here.RLM is alt-right not because of anything they say about Star Wars. Their racist attacks on minorities and mocking of women and feminism has tended to not be in Star Wars videos. Most of their most egregious examples of strong racist and sexist views have been in Marvel videos in recent years.
It's okay to hate Star Wars now, though. When is it okay to hate the most progressive media franchise in human existence?
FACT CHECK:
Any show on Fox is, in fact, failing.
Starting to sound like a Ben Shapiro video in here.
Not that it's surprising.

poor clowns
that can't be a lucrative job anymore
between constant beatdown from various Joker portrayals and then the clown world alt incel stuff and now I read somewhere the top 3 R rated openings ever are Deadpool, IT, and Joker
the age of the clown is done
alright so my expectations were a little off, surprised they liked the third act over the early parts, I overestimated their disgust with comic book elements, they seem to be at the point where they take that in stride (though Jay did say he'd have liked it better if it wasn't a Joker film)
however Mike literally complained about this too:Quotewhen his neighbor comes home to discover him and is freaked out and says "your name is Arthur, right? from down the hall?" and it's like we got it, they never really met, it was his delusion, but no they need to show us scenes of him alone to explain:mike
Mike's gotten a lot more positive lately, there've been quite a few recent films where Jay was shocked that he enjoyed it, or he'll argue against Jay negativity
Jay insisting that Pazuzu is inherently a funny name is both hilarious and cringing. I enjoy the “I’m Pazuzu” clip that he posts every time the name come out but my inner woke days “Jay, that name is older than Christianity”.
RLM didn't get drunk as hell this year :( Feels bad.
I heard others say either Ahnold or Linda were the only saving grave :idont
It is ironic that they would've liked the movie more if Arnold and Linda Hamilton weren't in it, but then the movie never would've been greenlit if they sold it that way.
Mike was kind of a wet noodle on this. Weird that Mac made him watch this and record a re:View and even stranger he agreed to do it. Maybe Mac was expecting a better reaction?
They did 3 videos with Mac on the same day, you try to keep your energy up after that without poppers or speed.

New Nerd Crew :gladbronThis is the best proof yet that they're alt-right. Lots of alt-right people have caught onto the whole one story reports a thing with almost no sources and then all kinds of sites report off that story as the source. They also don't trust corporations who create their own fake viral news. Meanwhile non-bigots respect and don't vilify journalists or artists who are the true leaders of evaluating and creating progressive, intersectional and emotionally connecting high cinema.
The movement just needs to rebrand. The Alt-alright.

that's true...and there's also the fact that preceding star trek 2009 they were saying "give abrams star wars, he'll do a good job with that, but he doesn't get trek"I dunno, i think he could've worked, if they started from a solid arc for the trilogy, i'm not sure that was up to him.
this is him proving them wrong
The OG didn’t start as a cohesive Trilogy, either. It was just not made by a bunch of hacks or yes men.People like Kasdan came back for it. :yeshrug

Rey is carbon copy of Luke/Anakin arcs, WTF you are talking about? Kylo Ren was made to be a straight Darth Vader that was so pathetic that people thought his whole point was being a parody. Finn good sidelined hard and Poe doesn’t do anything.Luke & Anakin don't even have the same arc between themselves in the first place.
. Rey grew up completely alone for example, something to use to give her a different twist on how she'd approach the journey,
. I don't even mind Kylo being an angsty fanboy like you do, i think it's something that could've been interesting to explore.
. Instead they didn't do anything with any of it, not in the first movie, not in the following one (and presumably not in the last one).

So these trailers led Rich to "drink" :(
Yeah first time I've seen Rich "drink" "alcohol" on-screen. And I've been paying close attention since that sketchy leaked 4chan post about RLM's backstory.
AVGN said he replaced his "booze" with a non-alcoholic substitute pretty early on in filming, so that's likely what happened here, but you never know...
Oh really? I thought he had a health issue and/or he soured on alcohol completely because of his family.spoiler (click to show/hide)I usually don't like gossiping about people this way but I've always been so curious about these guys for some reason. 😬
In any case it doesn't matter, as long as Rich is happy. :)[close]
I'm annoyed that they mention Jon Favreau so much but not Dave Filoni, most of this stuff stems from Dave's work.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote that there were a pair of test screenings for the film which garnered "negative reactions". The second screening was held on August 6, 2019, in Los Angeles, in which "audience members were again expressing discomfort with the politics" of it, an issue Universal had not foreseen (although other studios had initially passed on the script for that very reason). In a statement to Variety, Universal pushed back on a report that test audiences had been uncomfortable with the film's political slant, and also countered claims that the script had originally had a politically explosive title.[29] "While some outlets have indicated that test screenings for The Hunt resulted in negative audience feedback; in fact, the film was very well-received and tallied one of the highest test scores for an original Blumhouse film," a Universal spokesperson said. "Additionally, no audience members in attendance at the test screening expressed discomfort with any political discussion in the film. While reports also say The Hunt was formerly titled Red State vs. Blue State, that was never the working title for the film at any point throughout the development process, nor appeared on any status reports under that name."[29]
Prior to the film's initial shelving, the film attracted criticism from some of the media as an alleged portrayal of liberal elitists hunting supporters of Donald Trump.[22][30] Trump himself issued a tweet on August 9, 2019, calling "Liberal Hollywood" "[r]acist at the highest level" and writing: "The movie coming out is made in order to inflame and cause chaos", adding "They create their own violence, and then try to blame others". Although Trump did not specify the name of the film, news vehicles believed that was most likely a reference to The Hunt.[30][31][32] Some commentators, such as columnists for The Atlantic and The National Review, argued that the film actually had a right-wing, anti-liberal tone that was misinterpreted by conservative critics of the film.[26]

So eagerly awaiting their final Picard video..
Mike Stoklasa has experience as a writer, director, and actor, mostly in animation. On Smiling Friends, he voices Desmond. He also founded RedLetterMedia, an independent film production company and seems pretty busy outside of his stint on the Adult Swim special. Because of his experience in all things independent, there’s no reason to suggest Mike wouldn't also be into working on Smiling Friends more, should it get picked up as a regular series.
For now, Smiling Friends is still a standalone animation special that Adult Swim aired, which garnered thousands of overnight fans and counting. If those same fans keep inundating Twitter with their call for more episodes, maybe Adult Swim will take a hint. Until then, you’ll just have to watch the special on repeat.
Smiling Friends is available for streaming on the Adult Swim website and app.
And yes, we're also currently working on a follow up Star Trek: Picard video! That one might take a little longer than the other Picard videos.
This is what they said...Takes a long while to scrounge together the amount of drugs Mike will need to review the last ep :lolQuoteAnd yes, we're also currently working on a follow up Star Trek: Picard video! That one might take a little longer than the other Picard videos.

Honestly the cigarillos line is completely appropriate in the movie it is in and the scene it is in with the characters and while I wouldn't think they'd do something like that in 2020 as 50 something year old men, it makes complete sense for two very stupid high school boys to diffuse a situation of genuine affection between each other by calling each other a slur like that, especially in 1989.

Hollywood superstar Bruce Willis has been spotted with his family more often these days — and there’s a telling reason why he's spending so much QT with his kids.
After OK! exclusively revealed that the 65-year-old Die Hard star has been battling early on-set memory loss for at least the past two years, a second source divulged that Willis sold his New York real estate so that he can be with his children and wife Emma Heming Willis full-time in Los Angeles.
“His wife Emma has helped Demi Moore and the children Bruce shares with his ex-wife to make truces because they know he’s fading,” a source exclusively tells OK!.
[...]
As OK! previously reported, while Bruce has not been formally diagnosed with the first stages of dementia, “he’s been waging a personal war for a number of years” with his health and a memory issue, an insider revealed.
[...]
In 2015, Bruce was seen wearing an earpiece to feed him lines when he made his Broadway debut in Misery alongside Laurie Metcalf. Over time, it seems like Bruce’s health has continued to deteriorate.
“While filming Glass [in 2019], staffers worked around him by cutting and editing and having him overdub lines because he struggled to remember and/or deliver them,” an insider reveals. “In most scenes on Glass he’s hooded, and they used stand-in and body doubles to replace him. On set, he wouldn’t smile and was always chaperoned by an assistant to guide him while walking.”
Despite the hiccup, the father-of-five doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon, as he has five films in post-production and will start shooting Die Hard 6, also known as McClane, in the near future.
“The good news is that although there is the real concern of dementia fears, it largely has not impacted his ability to work in Hollywood — and in true super hero form — he won’t slow down because new technology like ear pieces allows actors of his caliber not to skip a beat,” the source said.
Fortunately, Bruce isn’t alone as he learns to adjust to his new normal. “Between Demi and Emma, the family has always ensured Bruce has the support and care he might need at any given time,” the insider added. “It’s sad that people are making fun of him.”
That's actually worse that people are clearly taking advantage of a diminished mind and no one is doing anything to step in for him.
And actually thinking about it they wouldn't probably comment on it unless Willis himself confirmed it. This is all third-party hearsay at this point.
there's a dark side to this particular video...I saw someone mention this in the comments and googled it, and found this article (depends on whether you put stock in reports like this):

The irony with Lucas is that he didn't want to direct the prequels but he was told by everyone that he asked to direct it himself because it was his creation and it would be most true to his vision.
Disney sort of got lucky with Marvel making everyone think they could only make hit movies.
But they've made an equal ammount of mediocre films with flashy visuals (TRON Legacy) to outright trash (Tommorowland).
Even among the Marvel movies there are some stinkers.

I actually like Tomorrowland, outside of the weirdness of whats clearly a woman in her mid 20s playing whats clearly supposed to be a 13-14 year old girl; the idea that cynicism and expectations of failure become a self-fulfilling prophesy that leads to inaction and apathy is pretty good. It has some pretty cool ideas and set pieces.

In the game, the film To Kill a Mockingbird is shown; the player is able to watch the entirety of the film if they remain motionless in that particular part of the game, while the character's girlfriend falls asleep by him. Maximum PC called the scene "the most authentic instance of romance ever conveyed in a videogame".[2] Also included is the film The Man with the Golden Arm, a full episode of Flash Gordon,[3] the film The Street Fighter with Sonny Chiba, and cartoon shorts of Popeye and Gabby.

Really good takedown of collector culture these days.
RIP 1899, but he's right that S1 was mostly self-contained and not a bad place to end the series. Still wish it had continued to see where they would have taken it next.
The trailer for After Last Season was released in March 2009, and rumors began to circulate on the Internet that the trailer was part of a viral marketing campaign by director Spike Jonze, in promotion of his then-upcoming film Where the Wild Things Are.[2] Several websites even called into question whether or not director Mark Region is actually a real person.[2][3] Lindsay Robertson of Stereogum wrote that the trailer "seems like it could only have been made in a parallel universe that irony forgot. Or written and directed by a small child."
